Meanwhile, 11 months with the same four tracks. The beta is a step in the right direction but there is actually nothing new about GTSport. Nothing concrete like features, career mode structure... Almost a year of vague news.
Good marketing waiting until closer to release before showing off what you got IMO, worked out well for GT5. Keeps it looking fresh and creates a lot of hype for release window.

Marketing what marketing everybody has forgotten about GTS (besides the people in these forums)

There are two schools of thoughts
-Forza: in 3 or 4 months, you know almost everything.
-games like PC2: the time between the reveal announcement and the release date is longer but a lot of communication, teasers, articles about new cars, features, tracks...

And there is Poly.

Yes. Western vs. eastern business culture. Which is understandable in my opinion.

I was racing around with the AI earlier on Arcade mode and thought to myself it would be cool if they had DR/SR system. Obviously not tied to the online, but I think it would help in driving habits and maybe if you bull rush through the AI for a win for - SR you lose a second for every - SR. Just my thoughts what are yours? It would make the offline more interesting at very least

GT5? Sure. GT6, not so much because the end game didn't back up the hype. More than a handful of folks here originally dubbed it GT5.5.

Good marketing requires a solid product to back it up, and Kaz unfortunately, doesn't have the most spotless record about promoting what the game will have and what it ships with.

Seems like a contradiction here.

I like the suggestion that showing 95% of the exact same content for 11 months is a way to keep something looking fresh.

The designer house is fully modeled, a possible photo location? (the same for the garage in some cutscenes?)

I noticed that too: a more traditional Photo Travel approach? It'd be a shame if that location is only for background menu fodder... I like how accurately the Eames chairs are rendered. Seriously — I want them.

If only Poly could make a non-racing game... Too much artistic skill in this studio, I'm sure they would be better at making a non-racing game.

I dunno, did you see Jeff "Dead Eyes" Gordon in GT5? :P

There's an obvious passion for recreating the automobile and the environments its found in. I like that.

...and now @RaY29rus has made me sad thinking about all the wonderful stuff PD created that we couldn't use over the last decade. Banned. ;)

True. (Still better than Mass Effect Andromeda :P )

Crazy to think we may only see on GT title during this generation.
That really is the killer. With the delay and unknown release date that could be a near year later than original release time, they cant afford to do another GT6 and release a new, full fledged GT at the tail end of the generation. Had GT Sport come out last year, maybe there'd have been time to release one a year or so before PS5 hits.

GT Sport is gonna be a potential disaster. Decent or great for a lot of us enthusiasts who like online competition, but they dont sell millions and millions of copies based on the highly competitive online aspects. I dont know what on earth possessed them to think this would be a good strategy and why it's taking them so long to do a pared-down GT game that's severely limiting their options for the rest of the generation.

I don't have much invested into the series anymore; I've moved on to Project Cars. But from a mere historical standpoint, it's interesting to note this will likely be the first generation without a second title. GT6 came late to the PS3 and sales suffered accordingly.

Imagine if they decided to make an open world game... it would be fantastic. Really want to roam city like Tokyo (cause PD office is there and bunch of stuff to explore) or other cities just like we did in GTA series. Other alternatives they could go for Forza Horizon or TDU style of gameplay if they want to stick with car racing but less restricted and giving player opportunity to explore the game universe. So you can find perfect spot to take pictures of your car by driving through the map, unlike GT where it is already available as an option (Photomode/Scapes) in main menu. That would be nice :D.
