Bug tracker doesn't work and I just want a lot of people to see it and make sure PD will be aware.
I was able to get into the bug tracker for the first time just now via web. Won't be able to try on PS4 but I suspect it will also work there - it seemed like it wasn't set up for me before but now I have access. So keep checking the site and clicking the "my projects" button until GT Sport finally pops up in there.

I would raise this bug (couldn't find anything like it in there) but I honestly don't understand it enough to input it. Would need more detail about how it works.

Also it sounds like a flaw rooted deeply in their physics strategy, and might be difficult to address without impacting the drifting experience. My first thought was to arbitrarily slow any car a little if the e-brake is even tapped, but yea, what would that do to drifting.

💡 Get rid of the E-Brake Button?

I know, I know, the drifters may revolt. But seriously, you could make it so it would not work once the lights go out in a non-drift activity.

I don't have a PlayStation 4. I don't have GT Sport. Let me just chat on impressions.

For one thing, GT Sport looks like it will be like its own spinoff of the GT series. It seems all too different and more professional a title than any traditional GT. And to many, that is a refreshing thought. I always felt Gran Turismo tended to lack in the racing department. The different changes I've seen from seeing streams of the GT Sport Beta make me think this is probably what Gran Turismo should have been on the racing front. I also still think the customization elements penned for GT Sport are also what us GT folks have probably long wanted.

I won't say too much on the cars, but I do like the selection as a whole. I'm sure many more interesting cars will surface and be raced with when made available.

Northern Isle and Tokyo Expressway are among the newer courses in the GT realm. Northern Isle is basically Bristol Motor Speedway in looks and layout. Tokyo Expressway is rather interesting. The environment looks like it is a Ridge Racer course, but it also kind of has a Tokyo Xtreme Racer (or Kaido Battle) feel to it. Or as one person called Tokyo Expressway in a Twitch stream- "Tokyo Wallbang." There seems to be very few places to execute passes. So drivers will need to find proper places to make passes here. As for the other tracks, they are all detailed nicely. Brands Hatch is competitive whether it's the Indy circuit or the GP circuit. The Nürburgring Nordschleife is... Nürburgring Nordschleife.

What impresses me most is the presentation of GT Sport. So many times I want to imagine I am watching TV rather than seeing a game with some of the scenes in GT Sport. Graphics are no problem with this game. Even when the race starts up to a peppy dubstep style song, the presentation is amazing. It is a sheer joy to watch. I even like the more professional sort of take with the HUD and the various bits of information shown. You can even adjust certain elements with the on-screen gauges. I even noted the arch bar indicating when to shift.

This is a much different Gran Turismo experience than any other. And to most of us, that's a GREAT thing (not just a good thing). Maybe this GT Sport will be that little kick needed to keep Gran Turismo fresh and relevant for years to come. I can't wait to test out Gran Turismo Sport myself someday.

As strange as the change :D feels, GT needs it. I'm going to miss having so many cars to choose from. That's the main thing for me.

If anyone from the forums was apart of this race, I thank you for racing clean with me! Racing like this is why I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Gran Turismo games!

There were four occasions in which you would've crashed out and took an opponent with you, if there wouldn't have been that ghosting. You even won because of it, or you'd have simply bumped into the Nissan. Jeez, I know it's there to keep out the crashkiddies but it also takes away a lot of what makes racing.... well racing. There was also some serious corner cutting without any penalty.

I agree with you about the ghosting, I got very lucky with the ghosting but there was also times where it did not work for example the gtr getting into me. The Gtr in the last half of the course on the last lap was running very conservatively, which gave me the shot to go through him because of him braking much earlier than he should have. I agree with the corner cutting needing to be improved, but when you're in a hyundai you need to take every advantage available to you.

I'm sure it was a fun race for you but same as @GTAce, corner cutting and ghosting kind of ruined it for me. It would be a game breaker for me if you could not turn the ghosting off and if they don't improve the corner cutting penalty system. Once you get tens of thousands of people playing on a regular basis, every race will be about which corners you can cut and who can ghost at the right time. That's not racing to me. This game lives or dies by the quality of the online racing as I don't see it offering much more than that for me. They absolutely have to get that right.

Put it this way - it has to be ready straight out of the box. Otherwise the racing will be highly frustrating for a lot of people. That cannot happen.

There's the incentive to do better. Higher DR/SR races won't allow that kinda stuff and players won't build those stats with luck.

That did look like a super fun race, kind of like a less aggressive DC Online with real tracks.

But damn, that ghosting totally changed the outcome of the race, multiple times. Seeing lengthy runs of one car inside another is not great at all. Collisions are part of motorsport, arbitrarily removing them seemingly at random ruins the spectacle a bit.

But yeah, despite that, looked fun, and a pretty respectful bunch of drivers too!

(Spotted @fortbo i think!)

hi guys! What is SID?

I assume this awful ghosting feature will only be included in the sport mode/quick match?

Wouldn't worry too much about this issue at the moment, as I'm pretty sure once private lobbies come in the full game we'll be able to turn off ghosting like in GT6.

But yes, It's very annyoing, it ruins the racing completly from what I've seen in the videos.

I agree with this, I was in that race and it seems like some people have even been taking advantage of the ghosting. It wasn't in this race, but in another, someone kept intentionally flying into the corners to trigger the ghosting so he could just go through me and the rest of the cars in front of me.

That race was a farce. PDI can't be serious with this can they? In a game where they claim you can get an FIA approved racing licence?

You are talking about the "FIA digital license" (you win after you compete with the very best in the two FIA certified championships aka esports part of the game)?
I think they might not have the "ghost car" options in that part of the game (or I hope so,at least).

People gotta start somewhere, man. Ghosting is disabled in higher ranked events, developers said as much on beta forums and you can see it in the races (look up the appalling Tokyo Expressway Gr.3 pileup video )

Ghosting really shouldn't be in Sport mode.

I guess it could be in the normal Online mode, but it should be able to be toggled on and off.

For example, if someone was to create a cruising lobby online, they could leave the ghosting on as it doesn't affect the racing experience all that much. On the flipside, if someone had set up a serious racing series, they could turn ghosting off so that people can't gain advantages that are normally gained when ghosting is done (i.e. pausing the game in an online race on GT6 caused you to ghost, meaning that you could pass through a collision with little loss of speed).
