I wish there was a registration for driver with etiquette. Like a place to enter your name and only be placed with people who respect others, maybe a peer rating system too. Too many down votes and you're out

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: I'm actually laughing.
"It's a beta, no definitive opinion. Just placeholders, the track itself is a placeholder. R246 will be back in 4k resolution with an amazing atmosphere."
Are they really bringing R246 back? When was this said? Tsukuba is one thing. I'll crap Skittles the day they decide to leave that out. I haven't heard about R246.

I've tried to post this but it looks like it didn't stick? IDK but talk about a ghosting problem coupled with erratic driving... 5:00 min in

Just curious. Would that love tap into the guardrail you received at 0:42 result in a SR point deduction for the other driver? If so, do you know how much?

Nitpicking, the shadows do let it down sometimes. I've noticed it in some of the other screenshots as well, with overhead sun the shadows from spoilers on the rear of the cars can have the same stripey effect. Here it's the curve of the door...

Also the resolution of shadows cast onto cars is quite apparent sometimes...

I'm not complaining, just saying that these are some of the few minor things that reveal that it's a rendering :)

Thanks for the screens @DaBomb330 đź‘Ť

No problem

Has anyone won the yellow or gold Renault R.S.01?

Sadly that Renault R.S. 01 you're referring to is an N600-class "road car", therefore it's not in the beta.

It's only the black, blue and red one, the 2016 Renault #14 Renault Elf Sport R.S. 01 GT3 that's in the game.

Shadows seam to be a problem for every racing game.

I wish anybody knew this was true or not. The word beta is thrown around in games and end's up totally different

I remember when they had some early videos of GT5 and people said "It's just a demo, they'll fix that before the actual game comes out." And they were very sanctimonious about it lol, like they were some sort of authority on video game development. And then of course the game came out and it was EXACTLY like the demo, because Polyphony Digital takes ages to do anything. If it's in the demo, there's no way they're going to re-design it from the ground up before launch day. As experience has shown, there's probably no way they're even going to do a minor tweak on it before launch day.

And then of course we listened to the same nonsense with GT6.

And now...well some people will never ever learn obviously

Is it just me or is it the Nurburgring that is causing massive laptime discrepancies? Earlier, my best N300 time I could put down was 8:32 in my WRX. Someone in my friends list was at 8:19, and on the best lap time of all players was like 8:01 in an Evo X. 30 second differences are insane. I haven't noticed that yet for other classes, but in the Gr.4 race today, the time differences between my competitors and I was about 6 seconds. Granted, the Gr.4 race was on Brands Hatch, but if N300 is constantly varying, then I'm going to stay out of that class forever.

@JackC8 Good point, games rarely go through significant changes from a beta. They're off to a good start though in my opinion.

They also haven't shown us most of the game yet (ie: livery editor, the campaign, night racing, rain, most of the tracks, cars, Online mode, extra unannounced stuff we haven't seen yet).

Guys are probably doing some tuning. I'm running my Evo stock except for the trans, managed to run some 8.29s, and there's plenty of room for improvement. That track is so long theres a lot of chances to lose or gain time.

That seems about right. N300 lap times at the Ring are over 5x as long as Gr.4 Brands times. 30 seconds is 5x six seconds.

Proportionately, practically the same.

I tried tuning the Impreza. Nothing major since I don't know how to properly tune, but enough to let the front wheels turn in a little more sharply, but the rear of the car to not feel so tight. In the end, it just wasn't enough.

Its definitely transmission tuning bro, im just ignorant because I wont put a race transmission on my stock evo, Im doing 8:30

One of the things I learned from RSR Live Timing boards is that, measured as a % of laptime, my laps are very consistent in relation to the aliens measured in that way, all that changes is the length of the track.

I pulled around an 8:20 and it wasn't even that clean of a lap so there is plenty of room for improvement. It was with the stock TT as well.

A huge lag during the last race of the last event on tokyo tonight, with everybody all over the place spinning drifting slaming each others . Very crazy thing. The precedent session was alwright.
I jump out of the race before the end and when i went back to the sport panel , they had change one of the 3 races available.

Out the ring N300 to let the place to Brands hatch N300 at 20;00H
Tokyo raceway is now for Gr4 no more Gr3at 21:00H
Northern isle speedway take place for Gr3 at 22:00H

Perhaps this change during the last race have something to see with the huge lag. Bug report in game is not accessible.

Related to the lap-time thing, I'm a long time racer but not particularly serious, or fast. My technique is basically guesswork.
So I'm probably the only one looking forward to the 'career mode' as it may actually give me some good tips on how best to tackle certain circuits.

That sounds brilliant to me, I hope it's very in-depth.

I'm not 100% on that because everything is so frantic in these races and I try hard not to hit anyone. That and the rating system seems to be inconsistent, I can't tell you how many times I've been put into a wall by an idiot and I get the penalty:censored:. But it seems that the SR system is aimed at reducing the number of wall hits and corner cutting. Car to car contact doesn't always result in an SR downgrade. I think their solution to bumping is the ghosting feature.

I just got some great advice from the PS forum and that's to race but stay out of the battles, i.e. concede positions if needed to reduce the number of hits during a race. The idea is to build up an SR rating of over 40 (?) so you get placed into a better field of drivers. Then get back to competing.

Yeah, light contact with other cars seems to not affect SR at all. Anything more than a few mph, and the red arrow appears. Walls are much more severe though: I've seen a slight brush that resulted in no more than a 2 mph difference still lower the SR.

Can confirm. Me with controller at Tokyo, hitting zero cars but lots of walls got my safety rating lowered from mid twenties down to 3 within 2 races. :ouch:

Glad I have my wheel working now, just need to get some online racing in over the weekend.

I would encourage anyone with Beta access to visit the playstation beta link they get in their email. I don’t know what I’m allowed to say in here but I personally would love to see more people logging in and speaking up.

How many races did you have under your belt at that point? Will your safety rating go down quickly if you have a couple of dozen races and then have a couple of bad ones?

I've only run 10 or so races in total. I REALLY suck with the controller and was still working on the GIMX for my wheel.
