Gran Turismo Sport Livery Thread and Discussion! (Read Original Post!)

Since we all have to use the Clio RS on the GT League Clio Cup, I think it was my turn to give it a proper livery.
I've always like ToCA and ToCA 2, so I decided to give it a BTCC look, but I couldn't decide which one. The yellow and blue '96 (for the 1997 season), or the green Nescafé '97 (for the 1998 season). So I've made both, but on the same car.

Link to the livery in my gallery

I had to make choices : the wheels are blue on the '96 and gold on the '97. Since we can't paint them with different colors, I thought that a metallic yellow will suits both without denaturing the liveries.

For the junction, at first I was thinking about doing a zip, like in the BAR Lucky/555 F1 livery, but it didn't look good on the front bumper, so I've made a clean cut and added a shadow effect on the yellow side (since the green side is dark and metallic, the shadow did not show well.

Now I've just have to decide whether or not I do the two "full" versions, and/or if I duplicate it on the popular Megane Gr. 4...

I present you with three Proton Porsches.

You can find them here: My Profile

Dempsey Proton Racing #77:

This Turned out OK, it's hard to keep the pattern seamless in this game, I even made a pattern on inkscape to save space.

Proton Competition car #88 and #93:

I actually did this as a request for the #88 car, but I happened to also like the #93 car, so a few recoloured decals, and new decals to upload and finding said decals on the internet (the most frustrating part for obscure sponsors), and I actually bought a second 911 RSR for this, but I'm pretty proud of it.

They are great. I've always like the Dempsey Racing livery, well done !

Can anyone please tell me if I am doing something very basic incorrectly. I have uploaded this LG Chem logo (With transparency in the face) as I need it and another (Ravenol) to finish my Audi TT Cup livery.

The file is a 3.2kb .svg image and it shows up on the GT website but invisible in-game. I am getting p'ed off with this Decal Uploader now. Thanks!

It's hard to tell, could be many reasons.

1. Is the image really a vector or just a picture saved in svg format? Can you see the outlines of the vector?

2. Are you using a tool for compression? Try playing around with the settings there. If you aren't using a tool, try one. Maybe it fixes it.

For it to upload, without erroring, it's likely that it's either a problem with the way the line/fill styles are applied - or maybe the viewbox/size settings. In any case - as with pretty much ALL uploader issues - if it's an SVG file, and it's less than 15kb, it's nothing obvious. If you zip the file and upload it here, or perhaps copy the SVG code and post it here in code tags

Was the original file supposed to be all black fill?

I've just uploaded the Red/White version.. and a black version just in case

Here are my most recent shared liveries. All these are somewhat based on real liveries from across the globe but I've tried to emulate them racing at Nurburgring with the specific plates and stickers. Enjoy!

Love it, especially the Vipers!
One thing, how did you make the numbers?

If you are using inkscape you MUST save as filetype "optimized svg". Do not save using the default svg filetype.

This evening I've made a “Lightning McQueen” themed livery for the Daihatsu Copen VGT. I came across the iconic “95” graphic some time ago and a few related logos, but never used them on a car, so this evening when I had the urge to make a livery, I went with the Copen and just started without much of a plan, I eventually ended up with what you see here, but hadn’t thought of a theme or “title” sponsor to go with it. I messed around a bit with a few different logos but then remembered I had the Lightning McQueen logos, so I decided the car would get a Lightning McQueen theme. It’s not supposed to be a replica, just inspired by :)

Check the decal link in my sig...

There's 4 files unfortunately, each one is a quarter of the file. It's just much easier to draw it this way even though it takes a few minutes to compose in game.

Sorry it took so long ;)

____

On a side note, between this and one I was working on for @VanessaMagick I've probably spent about 15 hours on two decals. Both of these I've chosen to draw from scratch because in both cases I wanted to test how efficiently I could draw them... so I'm NOT complaining about spending the time doing it.. no worries there... if I didn't want to do requests I'd just say so... however, the number of failure instances in either 'server error' or misinterpretation of the file is just utterly crazy. I'm not a noob, I know about drawing vectors and I know a bit about XML, I've read up on some of the W3C SVG guidelines... I know how to work around some of the shortcomings of the decal uploader and I understand some of the limitations, so I'm not just raging when I say this, but PD really need to sort out their game server implementation of the uploader. When files work in an application, when they work in browsers, when they work in the preview, and when they work in SVG generated by PD's own webpage... for them to then not work in the game is a problem - it might not be a major one in the grand scheme, but it makes me not want to put the time in to an editor which pretty much was the reason I bought a PS4... mini-rant over... 👍

I am floored you're still working so hard on this. After your last message I'd frankly accepted the fact that there was some kind of magical force working against me and there was nothing you can do.

It frustrated me to the point of giving up - I've done graphic design. I know what a SVG is. I know how they work. But I'm completely stumped. Everything I tried didn't work. Everybody else can do it just fine. It kills me not knowing how to do something I should know how to do.

Someone else sent me a lineart version of the pic. He said he'll color it soon, but if that doesn't pan out, I'll use yours even if it's more tedious to do (no offense, btw).
