So they said close to 400-500 cars total. Obviously the initial list is very short, but, how do they release the rest of the cars? Little by little or the rest at launch?

There website still says:
The full lineup consists of 140 vehicles, including original cars.

I wouldn't be surprised if a couple extra cars get added in with the delay, but I don't expect that number to triple.

Kaz said that few months ago in some interview, there is an article about it on news page.

It was an interview where Kaz stated that the game could eventually have around 400 to 500 cars. This means that, with DLCs post launch, the game might see the car count come close to those figures.

Thanks to @Marron most of the known road cars have now been placed in the correct N sub groups. I've left the two safety cars in their own group because of their uniqueness.
 
I wonder if all (or most) the vehicles will habe interior layout (premium mode). I was also hoping to see more vehicles being includes under the performance brand (such as Spoon, TOMs, Mugen, Nismo etc.) when compared to GT6... but I guess that won't be happening. And what's up with just one Honda?

Lastly, does anyone know about the sound qualities for this game? Will they actually put in effort to utilize the actual sounds of the real vehicles? Or will it end up being similar to GT6?

I am planning on getting the PS4 × wheel set up for this game... but so far, I am not sure if I will just end up grabbing the GT6 for PS4 instead. It seems like the GT Sport seem like the idrive game and moving away from the treditional GT series (just my opinion from what I read so far).

The creator of this thread would prefer if posts were contained to evidence based findings, as opposed to general chat or speculation.

So with that in mind, I'll simply say what you have suggested, that other versions will be in the game, certainly has merit. 👍

Definitely more in the future, since we'll never see the Hyundai and the Bugatti in GT6 (we'll see them starting in GT Sport instead) and as said before, Vision GT will continue in GT Sport with many more to come, according to Kaz, he says that Vision GT isn't even halfway done.
