Looks like the La Sarthe could be returning.

Looked like Willow Springs to me... then I noticed the blue and yellow curbs. Maybe it is La Sarthe. I can't tell for sure.
That is part of the esses at the track and a far as I know it's the only track that uses blue and yellow kerbing

@Scaff
Name one track built or licenced in the last decade that doesn't meet the regulations.

Bangsaen Street Circuit, Bangsaen Thailand? Quite number of medium and high speed corners with little to no runoff.

Also the KL City GP circuit from a year or two ago...V8SC was supposed to race there but the promoter messed things up. From what I remember, that circuit had little to no runoff.

Can anyone bring me up to speed on why a virtual track needs paved runoff? So people's feelings don't get hurt?

The FIA has done enough to ruin motor racing in the real world...we're gonna let them 🤬 the virtual one too?

It's got a grade 3 licence, so it does meet the regulations.

As to why we are discussing it, well that would be down to PD and the FIA.

I get why we're discussing it, but why are FIA safety standards even an issue in a video game? I understand making things "authentic", but this is too far, no?

If I set weather conditions to very overcast and torrential rain, will the FIA prevent me from running the race because the medical helicopter can't fly? Do I need to pass an egress test before competing, to see if I can get up off my couch fast enough?

Not questions we can answer, but PD and the FIA made marketing copy out of it, so it's a valid discussion point, particularly for a title that will hold FIA accredited races.

Is there a way someone from the GTP News team could ask someone from PD or FIA why this is such a sticking point? I'm completely baffled why the FIA would insist on safety standards in a realm where no one can get hurt (physically).

The fantasy GT3 Corvette...has it actually been crash tested to see if it meets FIA safety standards? If no, how can one use it in an FIA sanctioned race?

I realize you're just the middle man here, but I think it might be a good idea to get some answers to these questions, as this will have a huge impact on what is possible in the game, if it will constantly be limited by FIA Real World constraints.

Health and Safety culture has dominated Motorsport for the better part of the last 20 years. Are we really going to let it take over virtual racing as well?

If this is the direction GT is going in, talk about a valid reason to NOT buy the game.

I wouldn't worry, it's most likely marketing and little else.

After all we have seen video of LMP1 cars running on short ovals.

I think that any FIA official regulations that go beyond what would ordinarily be found in other racing sims should be centered not on 'driver safety' (which is ridiculous, and makes e-sports about as credible as a hyper-detailed Hornby train set) but fairness, i.e. well considered (and even regularly revised if necessary) penalties/disqualifications etc., because unlike 'driver safety', that's something that genuinely does enhance the validity of the game and its best players.

Driving standards and etiquette are what matters. It's why I never get the complaints about fantasy tracks, they give PD an opportunity to produce great driving tracks, and something other sims can't offer. In time we'll get many of the major real world tracks, but from personal experience, my track rotation is Spa, Brands, Nordscleife and Silverstone. That's all down to driving enjoyment.

Same whit the "fanatasy cars", that makes Gt not only a game, it's art, it's more than a generic simulator just like everyone else

In 12 months I've done less than 10 laps at Barcelona in Assetto Corsa despite it being one of the better built tracks. Just not an enjoyable drive. It's been a long time since I've driven at Suzuka and Interlagos and both are very fun tracks. Will also be interested to try Bathurst in GT Sport. So there's plenty of real life track options to go with PD's well designed fantasy tracks. Best of both worlds.

Nothing definitive but if you look at this video there is no infield.

But are you sure that second BMB layout isn’t a reverse layout? I can’t make out the text on my phone, the resolution of YouTube videos on GTPlanet isn’t that high as on the YouTube app.
