I'm assuming the cars are identical performance-wise for this Sunday and it's just a case of picking a badge?

Not a bad race.

Door 9, a good quali lap made me 5th on the grid.

One crazy guy thought he was the chosen one and divebombed the first turn to overtake some of us by bumping. Some more bumps during first lap made me P10. Then people started to go wide (I guess it had something to do with their bumping strategy) and I regained some positions. I also did a great overtake on the outside of a slow turn.

Someone didn't get the memo and changed tyres (the way to go for GT3 and GT2 is no stop on softs), so I climbed to P5.

P6 in the end, since my tyre management is always terrible (to the point I just no longer try to) and made me really hard to defend for the last two laps.

Or something else to do as that is a horrible combo
I've found it to be ok. For the first half of my race people were really close to each other.

If you're in GT3, might be the Chosen One was way off on the braking zone into T1. It can be kind of tricky if you're not prepared. Do you remember where they finished?

Also, taking notes on the tire strategy. I was wondering what I was going to do, myself.

Do you remember how much of the Softs were left by the end?

Problem is the front left tyre. Mine became 100% red with one and a half lap to go. Other drivers made it to the end with 1/3 still white.

I thought this was a great combo, with a couple of strategies working almost equally….

Curiously, I was the only BRZ in my race (and there were only 2 in the top 100 times….I was about 200th overall).

Qualified 2nd in a mostly A+ lobby with a 2.04.5. Pretty uneventful and mistake free race… I couldn’t get the softs to last in the one lobby I did, so I just ran qualifying laps on softs, pitted lap 7, and charged back through the pack. Got held up a couple of times, but was good enough for 4th. The pole sitter (who did a 2.03.9) pitted also, but came up a touch short on someone who conserved tyres! Great mix of strategies here!

Yeah great car to drive once you get the feel for it. I went with the GR86 only because I like the look of it more but in the lobbies I was in (A/S) there was a good mix of both cars.
Also one of the first races I've seen in a long time where both strategies work well. First race I entered top 2 pitted for tyres while 3rd did a no stop and in the second the race the top 2 did a no stop and 3rd pitted for tyres (all SS).
First race I pitted but got stuck in traffic for a bit behind a few cars running SM and only managed a 7th.
Second race I went for the no-stop (which was my original plan) and managed a solid 4th. Tried to manage tyre wear but front left was smoked by the start of the last lap but managed to hold on and not lose too much time.

Almost forgot this was on today! And I had more fun than I should have with this one. 😁

Set myself up a livery and started a bit of practice ready for the 11am lobby (UK) with all B/S drivers. and I managed 8th on the grid and had a bit wide moment in the middle of lap 2, and spent the rest of it trying to keep out of everyone's way.

Turn 1 was ok, but by 2 and 3 it was all very tight and mostly two wide. By the left hand sweeper I was on the outside and I snagged a wheel in the dirt, spun it and ended up 14th. Fight back time! After taking back some places I ended up 10th on lap 6 catching two cars battling for 8th. Got a great run into turn 1 to join the battle and we came out 3 wide on the run to 2. I held on to that and took 8th, only for one of them to knock me off at the hairpin and drop me back to 10th. Very annoying!

By then I was working the tyres too hard, they were dying fast and I couldn't keep up the pace, dropping to 11th at the end. So I thought I'd have another run.

The next lobby was again all B/S, some of the same ones too. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get close to my previous quali time until I crossed the line for the second lap looked over at my sectors and realised that when I left the previous lobby and rejoined, it had reset my tyres to RH. :banghead: The best I could manage on those was 14th, so I got ready for another fight back before we even started! 😆

Someone about 6 places ahead decided not to go on start, so the car in front of me hit him and I swerved and everyone was clumped up going into turn 1. I survived this one a bit better and started picking up places as people got spat off the track. Had some great battles throughout, and managed to save the tyres a lot better too. So by the final couple of laps I decided to go for it and on the final lap I was in 9th catching up to 8th, leading to this great fun battle and stealing 8th on the final turn.

Much happier with that race, so that's where I'm leaving it, with 51pts to add to the tally.

Death by VR for me today. Just had the first occasion where I've missed my braking point because I literally couldn't see it. :indiff:

Started P7 and then utterly binned it on lap 1. The car in front of me had a bad exit from turn 8 (long-left hander at the start of sector 2) so I went up the inside for the hairpin and tried making an overtake, only to overshoot it and end up in the gravel. Didn't hit anyone at least.

That set me back into some fights I'd have been in front of. That said, I'm not sure how much difference it really made overall. I finished P10 and there was no way I was ever matching the pace of the pack in front.

Is making a pit stop in GT1 worth it? I'm horribly confused now. All the Asia races I'd watched earlier seemed to imply that a Softs no-stop is faster even though the front tyres are pretty much non-existent by about lap 11/12, but the race I was just in with @Nebuc72 (grats btw!) just had loads of people pit and utterly destroy me whilst doing it. Having them come through on fresh tyres towards the end gave my already lacking pace a real pounding.

Qualified 6th, had a few love taps all round during the race, nothing to ruin anyones race though, finished 4th.

Was running sports mediums, P1-2-3 & 5 all had softs with dead front tires on the last few laps.

I was less than half a second behind 3rd, I was bumper to bumper in the last corner and knew he had slowed his pace (at the time had suspected he was on softs) and anticipated the braking into the last corner, whereas I wouldn't have braked, but I didn't want to send him off so stayed back and took 4th.

Really enjoyed it.

I am thinking about sitting out this one. I did some practice and I am able to get only 2:09, which seems too slow for this 72% DR-B driver. And on top of this. I am constantly rubbing off my front tires on all the turns.

I have never skipped a special event ever since I started taking part in Sport (unless my real life commitments didn’t let me take part).

Watching this thread and reading reports, hoping to get help in my decision to take part or skip.

Thank you! Was nice to see you on track.

I think the strategies are quite similar in total time, but it's a gamble if you pit as to whether you get stuck in traffic or not - which it's quite likely you will. I would assume with no traffic it's faster to pit (i was about 3+ seconds slower per lap at the end than my best) but of course therein lies the challenge as in reality you're likely to get stuck behind the no stoppers on dead tyres in the twisty bits.

P1 to P3 pit in our race, and only the original P1 was able to overtake and pass me by the end, and the race finished with a similar gap between us as it was when they pit in the first place. The other two got held up in traffic and I'd wager they easily lost 5+ seconds from that alone, P3 was right behind me as he pit but still a few seconds behind by the end.
The original P2.. no idea, he was lost to the void.

I was tyre saving like crazy for the first 8 laps, just floating behind them trying to conserve life. It paid off, though as you say by lap 12 I had 0 front left and by the end I had barely any front right either.

I love racing the road cars in this game. It will never get old.

The tire wear is very high for me in lobby practice, softs last 9-10 laps (I drive in GT1). A clear 1 stopper for me. Could be that I have energy just for one slot, time slot 2 now. Just did 6 hrs in a Le Mans 24 hours league race and did spotting/race engineering for 9 hrs too, only got 2 hours of sleep. Tiredness kicking in a bit despite having an energy drink 😮‍💨

This race wasn't bad but for us plebs it needed something more , like the dynamic weather that is showed in the picture lol

oh well , i did it anyway twice - first try: qualified P6 had a awful lap still somehow in top10 , race - risked with SM which later was a mistake since 10 laps is like exact for soft tyres + i had bad start but i dropped to P10 and later managed P9 meh

second try: qualified P9 had better lap than previously but i got somehow lower lol , race- this time soft tyres and smooth start , so much so i got P3 in the first corner but later in the race as the tyres got red lost 2 positions and in the last corner i ended P5 - should have done better but tyres got me eh at least it was a better racing

Second attempt, somehow went even worse.

I did start further back, but there were a lot of people pitting in this one. Unfortunately for me, I ended up behind a Finn who was also trying the no-stop, but was determined to defend everything like his life depended on it even though I clearly wasn't trying to attack - I wanted to work with him!

I don't want to think about how much time that cost us, and I ended up getting caught and overtaken by a train of 1-stoppers coming around the final sector because of it... :banghead:

Also wondering how much time I lost to a ridiculously aggressive Polish driver. He made a mistake after the second hairpin and I got past on the run down to turn 11, only to then find him attempting to stick his nose up the inside of turn 12 when I'm on the kerb, which pushed me wide and nearly binned me. Not amused, especially since I had no idea it was coming with that being a VR blind spot!

I think I'll go again on the final GT1 slot, but I'm going to pit this time. After two attempts on the no-stop, I'm fed up of driving around on dead tyres...

Well despite being a bit tired after 24 hr Le Mans League racing and race engineering, the driving was still consistent and my mind was sharp. Pace wasn't that great overall, so just a P11 in qualifying with a 2.05.9. The positive side was that except for the top3-4 my pace was not massively off a lot of drivers ahead, so anything could happen in the race. Also thanks to this forum I got the vibe that maybe driving on dead tires wasn't such a bad idea, it all depends on track position and consistency, while having enough pace.

Anyways the first few laps were chaotic as you'd expect in these types of cars on a technical tight track. Got up to P8 after a few corners, then got almost spun around by someone a little later on lap 1, but managed to catch the slide and only lose two places, back down to P10. But the chaos didn't stop there, apparently in the lobby was a dirty driver. Which normally would annoy me a lot, but I thought this as an opportunity to cash in a good result, if they kept ruining a couple drivers races, and if I managed to somehow sneak by them. I've been in a few races like these races before, so the key was to stay calm and not provoke the dirty driver.

So yeah it wasn't pretty up ahead, the dirty driver kept shoving people of the track mostly by side contact and not leaving any space. Around lap 6 I was up to P7 thanks to the chaos ahead and my consistent driving, and I was now chasing an UK driver and the dirty driver. They went side by side up ahead and barely left any space to each other, so I think the UK driver either had enough and pit and/or they were not sure how their tires could last the whole race. So I stayed out, up to P6 start of lap 7.

Around lap 8 the dirty driver started to struggle a lot with the worn tires, my tires were almost fully dead too, but I managed to have enough pace still to challenge them for P5. The main reason being that the driving tires (rear for rwd cars) were in great shape, despite the fronts were almost dead, and I had good feel for the car still. Anyways got a great run out of the last esses and got side by side with the dirty driver. For some reason they did not decide to hit me into the side, so I outbraked them into T1, up to P5. They did a slight bump into me, around T2. Totally unnecessary, but could have been worse and they couldn't get past. A few more corners and they were almost 1 sec back, so basically they weren't a threat anymore, during lap 9.

Btw I did have an earlier fight with the dirty driver around lap 3 or 4, and they went for a small gap which was not really on. But having seen how they drove I decided to let them have the place just for safety and also hoping that if we get another battle that they won't consider me as someone deserving a shove or punt. And yeah this analysis proved to be correct.

After that on lap 10, yeah the front tires were dead, but I still kept okayish pace in the 2.09-2.10s, and 2.11s last two laps. Without the dirty driver, 1-3 drivers behind, who went for a 1 stopper could have potentially caused me trouble. But the dirty driver acted kinda like a "rear gunner" unintentionally, so the chasing drivers behind them probably lost 6-7 sec in the last 5 laps, and the chasers also fought themselves. So yeah eventually the chasers got through, but they could only make like 4 sec back on last 1,5 laps, which was not enough. So in the end a fairly easy P5 and 166 points.

Very consistent and mature driving, even if I say so myself 😄 Let the others do the fighting, don't fight too much and just focus on your own driving are racing mindsets I use most of the time, and while they are clichés too, well they are that for a good reason. Yeah that is all, time to do something else than GT7, I think I have had enough for a while and thanks to the Olympic event, no need to grind credits for a while. Should be plenty of credits for the new cars next week, which all seem interesting.

Ran the first timeslot, GT2, mix of A & B drivers. In with @afc5150 and @Talon3. Door #16, Qd 11th, Finished 10th, right behind @afc5150, yes I believe we would have fought for position in another lap, I ran softs and still had 20% left on my left front, 25% on the right. I was around 2 different skirmishes, which got retaliatory, but I was only able to gain from one that held out till the end. Overall, I raced everyone I encountered cleanly and they all were clean and respectful with me, even the ones involved in the skirmishes. Enjoyed the race because of the respect of those I raced with, Thanks to those folks.

Two tries today. First is hardly worth a mention, but qualified P4 finished P10 due to a couple pretty bad offs.

Second attempt went better. Qualified on pole with a 2:06.300 (PB in practice was 2:05.575 - Pos. 877 on the leader board) about .1 or .2 seconds ahead of P2. Probably had some of the best racing I've experienced so far in Sport. The top 3 was very close until lap 6. By now I've dropped to P2 with P3 keeping pressure on me but I'm still on P1's bumper and they're beginning to slide around and get sloppy. I get a tire in the dirt and spin.

Here's where it all went wrong ...

188f3c1aac844-screenshotUrl.jpg

I drop to P6 and try to salvage what I can. Ultimately, I finish P5 after a long two lap fight passing in the final sector of the last lap. I'm disappointed, I should have finished with at least a podium. Oh well.

188f3bc68d644-screenshotUrl.jpg

Some very good and clean battles, but I just ultimately couldn't shake the pressure.

Qualified 7th in an A+ lobby with a cautious first lap. Would have improved quite a bit on the second lap but I spun on the second last corner. D'oh!

I was unsure if I should go for a no stop so I just decided to use soft tires and see how long they last. After 8 laps my other front tire was already completely worn so I pitted for new set of tires. Dropped back to 7th but thankfully there was no traffic ahead so I was able to catch most of the drivers that didn't pit and were on completely worn tires. Finished the race 3rd with a clean race bonus + fastest lap (2:05.0).

I'll take that!

Nicely done, I was waiting for an active A+ driver to catch me at the Finnish TGR GT Cup leaderboard 😄 Personally I need a 160-170 pointer in one of the next 2 rounds and that is probably best I can do, in the 680 point region with 4 best rounds.

Was debating even doing one of these but I had the itch to play the game and nothing else was interesting, so I went for it.

Out for quali and got caught up in traffic. They give you five mins, each lap is ~2:05ish, thus if you get out on track within the first 30-40 seconds you get two laps. So, rather than sit and wait like I usually prefer to, I went out about 30 seconds in. It didn't work as my first flying lap was a little it held up and my second was dead before it even got started.

Started P6, and dropped back to P8 by T2 as I was on the outside of both turns. Back to P6 by the end of the first lap. Pretty much stayed there for a handful of laps with P1 never more than 3.5 seconds up, and usually between 2.5 - 3.0 seconds. I was able to make a pass going into the second hairpin and got another place a lap later. A place I "lost" when someone dive bombed me into that hairpin and pushed wide. Karma got him back as he went off later in the lap.

Last part of the last lap were pretty exciting. Made a pass into the second hairpin and now in P3. Stayed right on the tail of P2 and got the inside on the last right*. Ended P2 by less than .200" (and P3 was right behind too). One more lap and I'd have won it as I would've been on the inside going into T1 and my tires were in way better shape.

Not my favorite combo but it was fun none-the-less. Kinda felt like that SSRX Daily A a few weeks back where it was just waiting for the last bit for everything to kick off.

*Yours truly is in the yellow car on the right here.

this was my experience as well, almost exactly. I had to follow someone in through the last sector that really held up my natural pace to avoid being 'that guy'. Also, you think you have space and someone clips the grass and there you are....

I had really low scoring lobbies this morning, I think raceC incidents have done my dr in for the week (even though I enjoy that race a lot, I keep trying, expecting it to go better!). I've had some wildly different lobby points in all of these recent series. And there were only 13 in my race, not much participation this morning? Fighting from bad qualies and then when I did get though traffic, I was in a pretty deep hole. Might try again tonight.
