I’m sooooo tempted to do the race on Sunday. GT4 Supra is ready, but not sure I want to get involved. Nice combo though. Bet it’ll be fun.
Do it mate. I ran a few lobbies and it's pretty straightforward, and even with only 3 people in the lobby, the racing was really good.

The final round has been revealed to be the GR Corolla at Road Atlanta.

You'll also receive the car as a gift on August 28th if you did any of the races. It will be added to Brand Central at the end of September.

Ohhh my Super Taikyu grid is going to look loverly

Not sure I can do the 25 laps with the numbness of my hand. Broke my fifth metacarpal about seven weeks ago. I’m on the mend with my grip strength, but still having some discomfort. Most I can do is 5-6 laps. This last 8 lap stretch was a bit much. Shaking my hand on the main straight. Nearly three seconds off the top.

If I do it, I’ll make sure to be at the back of the GT1 grid.

Ugh, Road Atlanta. No custom liveries or ability to do a practice race either.
I'm moving home in August so my broadband may not be up and running for this one - a good excuse to skip it, will still receive the gift car anyway.

For this Sunday I'm going to be the odd-one-out and race the 86 against the hordes of Supras. Might be able to pick off a few who shred their tyres.

I'm torn on which car to use. I like the way the 86 handles more, but the Supra is clearly much quicker. I haven't done too much practice, but 10 laps in both cars around the sprint circuit and I'm easily a couple tenths faster in the Supra.

The race length in GT3 may not be long enough to fully use the rears on the Supra, but I haven't done any tire wear tests myself.

I'm definitely going with the Supra, I'm much faster and more stable with it than the 86. I've done 4 practice races, took the 86 to one and spun it a couple of times, and on the clean laps my pace was just slower by at least half a second. All my Supra runs were clean, I'm just much better with that car.

Tires are fine on both cars as long as you don't spin. Front left will be the problem tire, usually ends around 25-33% or so if I had to guess.

VR is the best, man. 16:00 event. Started 12/13. No qualy(my fastest practice lap would have started me P2). P13 sat in the pits as well. I delayed my start to make sure I was last. Stayed in the train while there was some shoving ahead. Nothing dramatic. Some discomfort with my hand every four laps, but I managed.

Then, P12 got a bit loose out of T3 and dropped way back. A few more cars ahead were holding each other up, but everyone were pretty much gentlemanly/gentle personly for the entire race. Someone went off at the Sprint hairpin. Couple early stoppers had to pit again. I think the winner/pole sitter(1:31.957) pitted one lap earlier(Lap 12), than the rest of us on Lap 13. Good race.

GT2 B Went only once , it's too hot here lol

Qualified P13 - 1.34.749 slow lap meh , Race went okay but after first turn some people started to punt thankfully to me they only rammed my rear multiple times , for whatever reason 5 or so people went to pits which was interesting as theres no requirement also being GT2 , because of that got into top10 , then some spun out and get myself into P7 where i ended - that's good for me :D

Just had an awful race. Qualifying time didn't register so started 16th, if it did I would have started 5th, 1 second behind pole which is also 1 second of usual pace so would have been a good battle.

There was a pile up on the first corner getting me into 10th by the second corner.

Got to 8th and P7 & P6 were battling constantly, I managed to make it past but they were both very pushy and kept hitting on corners no matter how wide I went to give them the line.

Was constantly 4-5 seconds off my pace.

Ended in 7th, half a second behind 6th.

Everyone had sportsmanship rating S but seamed to divebomb at any chance.

Lots of people with bad signal in the lobby causing jittering which didn't help ☹️

Think I'm going to run again.

So glad that I ran again.

Qualified 2nd back on pace again, stayed there at 1.5sec behind lead until the end of lap six when, for some reason, they pitted (GT2/3).

From there took it easy until the end as everyone else also started pitting, I think someone even pitted twice.

13sec ahead by the end.

Some testing data with S01 weather, time of day is afternoon. Mediums pace drops after 6 laps like 1 sec per lap, then after lap 10 another 1 second per lap (my left front was dead after 10 laps). Definitely a 1 stopper in GT1.

how good are you at tire saving? Would this be different for the “average” tire saving skilled person?

A mess of a race in GT3, only CS drivers but lots of dirty driving, started on 13th place and ended up on 10th place, I let it be with that, I really don't want to go back... 😂
Come on man, get back in there and kick some ass and leave those losers in your dust. You know you’ve got it in you.

Feelin' pretty good about myself, honestly.

Oh, and I think this is worth sharing as well

It seems any time I’m debating a car the whole world says is quicker vs a car that I feel more comfortable with, invariably I am faster in the car everyone is using. I think me feeling more comfortable with a car has nothing to do with being fast in it.

I think what makes me like a car or feel more comfortable in it is more do to it being more forgiving, so I am more consistent in the car with fewer catastrophic errors. But not faster.

If I were to describe my racing style it’s success by attrition, lol.

I focus not just on pace, but specifically on a style that results in fewer errors. I’ll sacrifice a little bit of time if it reduces the risk of a costly error, then I just wait for other people to make mistakes and move up the field. It really is amazing how much success you can have by just not ****ing up.

Once I get close to the leaders with a real opportunity to finish high or win, I will start focusing more on pace and start taking risks.

After more testing yesterday, I decided to go with the Supra. It's speed is undeniable, so I see that being the best advantage in qualifying. Which in GT3 I usually qualify somewhere in the top 5 and my Free Practice time is in the top 900 currently. Just have to try to keep from making a mistake.

We'll see how it goes.

As a VR player I swear sometimes it seems like the pace of a car is directly related to having ****** visibility. It can be a bit frustrating when every car at the top of the leaderboard means driving like you are looking through a periscope with roll bars and ducts and **** obscuring your view and the side mirrors are 4 centimeters wide and all the cars just look like dots.

I hate this track so much 😤😤. Tires won't survive enough with anything other than +5 brake bias, but then I have 0 pace and car slides all over the place. Was going to be a P12 from P11, but I decided to sandbag and drop last to hopefully get a slightly easier split for the next race. Best I could have done without mistakes and two 1 sec penalties was a P10, which would have been acceptable score (144, over 50 pts higher than my 4th best score). Going to try once more, hopefully it goes better.

Didn't get the opportunity to run the last round at Autopolis, so if nothing else I fancied running this round for some racing and general entertainment. Given I'm unsure if I'll get to run 4 or 5 rounds this season, the points are of little concern.

With that in mind, I planned to use the GT86 for this. As I'd much rather be slow driving a car I like, instead of following the herd/sheep and driving something faster, but not that interested in. After some practice last night, my race pace was pretty consistent if rather slow and average, but that's something I'll take. So I was keen to see what my little Daihatsu could do ;).

Unsurprisingly I was the only GT86 in what was a strong 235pt lobby. I was more focused on getting clean qualifying laps in, so my best lap was perhaps on the safe side, with 1:32.4 putting me 14th. Though I felt staying out the way towards the back was my better option anyway, as I didn't want to be a rolling road block for those more focused on the race ahead.

As the race started, the early laps were pretty hectic, with everyone bunched in a group jostling for position. That allowed me to stay in touch, still in 14th, for perhaps longer than expected. Good racing though. However, by lap 8 I stared to fall back as tyre wear became an issue, and cars behind overtook. Jumped in for my stop at lap 11, but I incurred a 3s penalty on entry. My race was fairly lonely by then anyway.

So I was on my own for the rest of the 2nd stint, still enjoying how the 86 is to drive. Though feeling a little bored I decided to wear my tyres down deliberately, to see if I could induce more more oversteering action. 25laps done, and 1 lap down in 14th (2 people left), but entertained and I can confirm that 100% worn Mediums make for good Drift tyres :D

I hate this track so much
Yup.

GT2, no stop on mediums. Having qualified in 15th, just behind the only other GT86 and just ahead of someone who didn't set a time, I finished 7th courtesy of:
Overtaking five people in the pits
Overtaking three people who'd crashed
Overtaking one guy who had zero front tyres left and nearly killed me at the chicane but did his best to avoid it.

That'd be 6th, but the guy who was the leader before he pitted overtook me on the last lap after boinking the back of my car three times and then taking the chicane like I wasn't there as I defended the inside on the approach. Or, you know, that's how it looked on my screen.

95 points is probably enough to win me gold-level credits, but I'll have a think about doing one of the remaining rounds.

Sometimes I think the same thing too :indiff:

I'm the person who didn't set a time 👋 (intentionally, I didn't have much pace and I was trying to avoid mid-pack carnage into turn 1 that didn't really materialise).

The pitstopper coming back through the pack at the end definitely had his fair share of overaggression getting past 8th as well, so hearing that doesn't surprise me.

Then hi! :D

Yes, it was relatively clean throughout. I had a bit of contact on lap one through turn four as a car who'd slid over to the outside turned into me, but I'm not sure what happened after that. I think someone crashed at T5 and fell off the back of the pack, so it may have been them. By and large, apart from some sliding, there wasn't anything obviously nobby. I did see an entirely pink Supra and a blue Supra having some kind of tussle behind me late on that gave me a bit of space, but I think on knackered tyres it could just have been control issues.
