this was my experience as well, almost exactly. I had to follow someone in through the last sector that really held up my natural pace to avoid being 'that guy'. Also, you think you have space and someone clips the grass and there you are....

I had really low scoring lobbies this morning, I think raceC incidents have done my dr in for the week (even though I enjoy that race a lot, I keep trying, expecting it to go better!). I've had some wildly different lobby points in all of these recent series. And there were only 13 in my race, not much participation this morning? Fighting from bad qualies and then when I did get though traffic, I was in a pretty deep hole. Might try again tonight.
Right. Hindsight being 20/20 I should've just waited and went for one clean lap and brushed off trying for two. As, my second one got FUBAR'd before T2 so it was moot anyway.

The flip side of that is, the people "getting in the way" are also trying to get their lap in. Am I frustrated they're in my way? Yea. But what can I expect when they're trying to get their lap in too? Heck, there are a lot of tracks where you only get one shot.

I've said it before but the quali for GTWS and the like needs a revamp. I like the format but all the cars should be ghosted, or you not on the track at all (as even the ghosting can be very distracting). I do like the live updates as people cross the line. But it really sucks when you can only make one race, of a one-shot setup and it's over before it even starts due to quali issues.

Ran again, glad I did. Did the GT2 slot 6, I figure all the A+ players are in the race they belong in this time. Door 8, mixed A/S B/S lobby worth 136 points

Used the soft tires this time around, lined up in Q3 and was in P2 by turn 1. Nothing to report after that as the leader gradually pulled away for a 15 second victory and I brought it home from there 5 seconds up on 3rd.

130 points and my biggest haul of the season.

That was a kind of interesting race....could've been better, could've been worse.

Did the first GT1 slot, all A/S drivers. Had a decent Q session and actually went a tenth faster than my previous best in practice which was good enough for 5th on the grid. I decided to go for the 1 stop strat on SS tires. Start was fairly clean but a little cozy in T1. I managed to slip up into 4th place for a bit, but then slipped back to 6th and stayed there through the first stint. At the end of the 6th lap a couple of people went for the undercut and dipped into the pits to change their SS tires out moving me back up to 4th until I dipped out at the completion of the 7th lap. Took a set of fresh SS and came out in 12th. Passed a couple people and a couple more pitted. By the end of the race I finished in 8th. Front left tires were fried at the end of each of the 2 stints. I historically suck at preserving tires so I knew this one might be a bit tricky. A couple of guys that started behind me ended up finishing ahead of me doing no stoppers. I'm kind of curious to try maybe going with SM and see if I can do a no stop but I'm worried that with the way I fry tires I'd still have to pit.....I'd probably have to use SH tires to do a no stopper, though not certain on that since I didn't do any race practice runs.

I think it'll be 1 and done for me tonight.

Sadly I had to miss this round. Didn't think Remote Play from the middle of a field would be up to the task.
I'm useless in road car races anyway, so probably a lucky escape for my DR.

Not sure if I'll do the next round either - I like the Gr4 Toyotas but the race is at Nurburgring Sprint, just horrible.

I'm curious, is there any reward or prizes for where players end up after the last round in the lower leagues? Not talking about the participation award of the GR010.

But I noticed today after looking at the points results that a player in my region has 3 accounts, one in GT1, GT2 and GT3 ... All conspicuously named as such with the same "first name" so not really hiding smurf/alt accounts. They were pretty high up in the GT1 and GT2 league, and in first in GT3.

I'm wondering if there's some other motivation other than just to stomp on lower DR players, seems rather unsportsmanlike at first glance.

Maybe the Final have a big credits reward? @Famine probably knows more.

I wouldn't have done this round if I didn't hear about the free online multiplayer weekend period. Joined the last slot and qualified P6. The start was okay until the first corner where I nearly binned it. From that point it was a recovery from P10, with a few overtakes here-and-there.
Coming to lap 6, and the only Singaporean in the lobby decided to drift the entire course. Not so sure why, but I will keep it as a question. Then come lap 7 and someone thought the game would reset them on the spot. To which it didn't work, gets punted by a green GR86 and left after.
For some reason at lap 11, I was on podium and managed to gain P1 after the two decided to be aggressive with each other. It was short-lived however as my front tyres died 2 laps later. Ending the race in P3. Not too bad I guess. (199 points. Missing out on 200 points is something that is common lol)

I am not sure if there is any kind of reward for winning the GT3 or GT2 leagues other than bragging rights. At least I've never heard it mentioned before anyway...

That's what I was thinking, too. At least, I haven't read anywhere that there was any kind of reward for it.

Though, I imagine the bragging rights feel much more shallow when you're a GT1 DR-A+ driver competing against B or C drivers. I don't know, I avoid stepping on bugs when I'm walking around outside.

I completely botched my round last night at Autopolis. I was doing some free practice on hards to see how the car would handle before the match started, but I forgot to change back to the softs for the qualifying. I tried pitting after the initial outlap to change them, but I didn't have enough time to do an actual lap. So I didn't really qualify. Thus, I started in last. I also didn't know you could do the whole thing on the softs instead of opting for the mediums as I did. So I was a bit slower than most of the field, too.

Yet, in spite of all that, I got a clean Q14/P11. What's more, is that within my state's GT2 entrants, I scored the best when it came to this particular round. I wasn't in a good mood to enter the previous rounds, so my plan was do my best in these last four rounds. Although the current scores are already being calculated from the best three rounds, my singular entry from last night has already put me in 5th out of the ten GT2 entrants in CT. Funny stuff. And I think my standing will only get better from here.

Oh, and I suppose getting a free GR010 with the 2023 livery is nice, too.

I did two attempts yesterday (GT3). First attempt was a bust, made 2 horrible mistakes that caused me to end up with P11. Tried again on the last slot - joined the lobby and the server took like almost 15 minutes to start qualifying, as a result only 11 on the grid.

I qualified 4th, and was in third going into lap 2, then caught some dirt on T1, and comically lost control, cut the corner, and ended up facing the wrong way, and hit a car. Hate that that happened but I stuck with the race, and had a blast from there. I gradually worked my way up to P6 by lap 7, and there was probably like a 6s or higher gap ahead of me. By the start of the final lap, I had closed the distance enough to be in striking range. I tried to push a few times in some of the later sections of the track, but opportunity presented itself on the final turn of the final lap - P4 had a bad entry into the final right turn, bumped into P5 trying to move to the outside, opening the door for me to take the inside. I took that chance, stayed on the inside, got a clean exit, and ended up with a double overtake on the final turn of the final lap. Ended P4.

Very happy with that result, hate that I screwed up again in an embarrassing way but feel great that I was able to make it back up with what I felt was clean, solid racing afterwards. I love this car, one of my favorite road cars for sure, and I do enjoy Autopolis. It's a quirky track with a few turns that can be very difficult, especially turn 1, but I find it a lot of fun trying to figure out the exact points I can push to try and maximize my exits. Fun race all in all

Just ran a race practice for the Nurburgring Sprint race.....looks like it'll be a pretty straightforward 12 laps > pit for fresh RM > 13 laps for GT1, at least for me. Perhaps there might be some who are amazing at tire savings but I damn sure am not one of them lol.

Plenty of fuel for GT1 as well, you only end up using about 1/2 the tank by the end. I ended up decently quicker in the Supra as its less twitchy than the GR86 and its at the top of the charts for most.

Just had a one and done on sunday. Quite enjoyable rate. Started 9, dead last after the first turn, finished 5.

I notice only 3 out of 4 results are used for the standings.
What is gonna happen going forward? After all events will be completed how many will count for the final result?

Total of your best 4 scores will count for the final results.

Good projections, I need one more good round. First 2 categories easy in Finland but even just those last 2 are worth it for the casuals even if just for bronze in all you get 3 million 😎. So start doing all GTWS races now. I rejoin manu for season 2 and continue the rest. This is very good, you feel like a racing driver in the virtual world now with good payments.

Honestly besides the Valkyrie, this is the best with this update and apparently you can adjust brake bias and gearing now with bop on. May require owning the fully custom gearbox and brake balance. So all and all update is 8/10. New track and better payments in some races or new races was needed though.

So it changes as the series goes on? Toyota says three will count and Manu says two will count... when the season concludes they'll actually count more than what they're saying now?

ETA: NM, just found the answer which is exactly what happens...

Yeah it updates the standings after certain rounds. I don’t have the exact rules in front of me but it’s something like best score after 2 rounds, best 2 scores after 4 rounds, best 3 scores after all rounds complete.

As ever, there seems to be different information in different places. This is from the Sport mode webpage:

2. Effective Points

The points from the best Rounds from half of the total Rounds will count towards the final score.

■ TGR GT Cup 2023 Rounds and Effective Points
 - At the end of Round 2, points from the best Round will count towards the final score.
 - At the end of Round 4, points from the best two Rounds will count towards the final score.
 - At the end of Round 6, points from the best three Rounds will count towards the final score.
 - At the end of Round 7, points from the best four Rounds will count towards the final score.

I just ran a lobby today, it was the same for me - front left was dead after 12 laps. So 12 laps, pit, 13 laps in the Supra for me. Haven’t tried the 86, but surely it wouldn’t be faster running around on dead tyres for at least 10 laps and doing a no stopper….right?

GT2/3 is only the 12 laps (thankfully, horrid track), so looking like a straightforward sprint and hope the tyres don't die right at the end? Maybe the 86 will be competitive, it is usually lighter on the wear.

During my first test last week, the tires for the supra last no problem. It might get sketchy a bit at the final lap or two but they will last the whole race.

I also did a run (GT2/3). I think the tires are safe unless you get cought in a dogfight for the whole race. In that case the last 1-2 laps may become quite difficult

I'm going to set up a lobby today with max tyre wear, and try to figure out what I'm doing wrong. It may be carrying too much entry speed (my front left always gets destroyed, and even with full rear brake balance, my rear tyres are totally fine).

I'll try a few things, more coasting, not using 100% brakes... any other tips?

edit for context, in the lobby I did last night with two friends (who are also A+), I had more speed (about 0.3 sec) in free practice, out qualified them both, but faded faster (one guy was able to do 13 laps in his first stint compared to my 12, before his front left was fully red)

I really don't know. Driving style maybe? Which I know means all and nothing...

Try to set a reference time for your laps that is half a second slower then the time you feel you can achieve without tire wear and stick to it. See where you end up

Brake balance and exiting corners in a higher gear helped quite a bit. I'd recommend running some laps with higher tyre wear - I made it 21x....3 times as much as the event has....and did 4 laps with a few different settings and methods to figure out what works best for me.

I’m sooooo tempted to do the race on Sunday. GT4 Supra is ready, but not sure I want to get involved. Nice combo though. Bet it’ll be fun.
