Just completed GT2 Slot 2 @ Bathurst. Went a lot better than expected, I qualified 5th in the AMG '20, spent most of the race in 6th, kept it clean (got the CRB!) and finished 4th thanks to other people's incidents. I didn't really do any fuel saving, the leaders pitted on lap 10. Myself and a few others went in on Lap 8 with like 1.1 remaining so probably could have gone to 9. Quite happy with the result.

Whatever you've had for breakfast, can I have some of it please??? Clean race bonus at Bathurst is an outstanding effort IMO as I fully expect someone to push me into a wall at some stage!
I did scrape the wall a few times to be honest, not enough to get damage though. CRB might be less sensitive with the penalty disabled.

I admit I'm quite tempted to not run Bathurst (and maybe Nurburgring). I've started testing the Audi a bit in preparation for the official season, and it's felt so on rails and fun to drive that it's really tempered my enthusiasm for driving GT3 cars that aren't the Audi, such as the Jaguar I picked. Plus Bathurst is maybe my weakest track on the game, and it makes it rather tempting to skip the round.

@Moose78 @GlockPants
I jumped on this evening and you guys had me boxed in lol. Surrounded!
Took me a bit but was finally able to break free. Barely. 😅

I did feel much better through the dipper tonight which was my 2nd goal of the evening 😂

Good luck to you everyone tomorrow!
🍻
That's a nice time. My optimals were around there, but I don't think I'll be able to make that lap materialize before the race.

Good luck with your race!

This race is stupid.

Qualified pole by 1.7 seconds with a 2.04.8

Take out on lap two twice. Both times by the same driver, he did it once trying to punt me into the downhill hairpin, he let me through at the end of the straight (that's nice, I thought, genuine mistake) and then did it again properly this time into the last corner because he didn't do a good enough job the first time apparently.

Ended up down in 8th stuck behind a blocker losing 3 seconds a lap from. Laps 3-8.

Eventually finished 3rd and consistently setting fastest laps to catch up, to no avail because it's tough when someone has a 20 second head start on you. My god what an absolute waste of time.

Even if I'd won it wouldn't have mattered because only 89 points on offer and I have I think 94 + 97 already, but still a phenomenal waste of an early lunch break.

My Bathurst race was epic.

Q12 of 15 in the 4C. Only did one hot lap and didn’t push because I had decided on a funky strat. I decided I would do 10/9/9 and fuel save for the first 5 laps. This way I would stay out of trouble over the mountain when the traffic was dense and hopefully pick up spots when people were fuel saving later on.

Sure enough I was DFL by turn 2 lap 1. A few cars met Barry in the first couple of laps and, when I’d finished fuel saving I was up to p11.

A lot of cars pitted between laps 7 and 9 and by the time I pitted I was p4.

Rejoined in p11 but at least 2 in front were going to have to aggressively fuel save or do a 3 stop.

The middle stint was solid enough and I managed to climb to p8 by lap 19 when I pitted for the final time.

Last stint was perfect for me and I rejoined in p11 but started reeling in the groups in front.

Sure enough a couple more pit stoppers gave me freebies and then it became obvious who had left their fuel saving til late. 3 simple overtakes and a McLaren going too deep in The Chase on the final lap and suddenly I was in p5 crossing the line.

CRB and DFL to p5 was better than I possibly could have hoped. 210 points and my tally will finish in 410.

If you can stay out of trouble and be consistent there are good points to be won here.

Good luck all who battle the Mountan.

Home from work and jumped right in. What a aweful race 😂

Was happy with P7 in quali because I didn't practice at all.

Got hit 3 times in the first lap, one of those was a bit dirty but ok. Got to P6 in the first couple of laps but it was more pinball for me then anything else. The lack of practice really showed here.

Got to P5 before my stop at the end of lap 8 and finally got into a grove at around lap 11/12.

Had a 12s gap to P4 and 11s to P6.

Got the gap to P4 down to about 6 seconds at lap 14 but hit a curb after the chase and spun hard and hit a wall. Lost loads of time and also P5 but the driver was only .5s ahead and I was clearly faster.

Overtook him but we both were trying to leave enough room for the other and somehow touched 3 or 4 times. He hit me once more in the hairpin and pushed me into the wall but gave me the position back and I finished in P5. So I guess I'm happy with that 😂

2nd and final attempt (probably) of this series, as I'm off on holiday on Friday and doubt I'll play later.

Much better race from me, Grand Slam of pole, fastest lap, win and clean race. Led for all but about 4 seconds on track. 74 points so again useless.

Although I got chirps from another driver after for "taking him out on lap 1". Hopefully you can see from the screenshot, coming into the chase, he is overtaking on the left hand side, but he suddenly decides to drift right without being fully ahead, and ends up going off.

Genuine question - if I've stayed in in straight line and have made no movement and given loads of room on the left, am I in the wrong - and if so, what would I be expected to do here? If I'm wrong, I apologise to the other guy if he's on here.

You can see above, I'm on the right, he has loads of room...

(in my opinion) he has just cut across me without being fully in front. I end up clipping his rear left with my front right and he goes off. So should I have (somehow) backed off completely or was I right to assume he could have held his line instead of moving across?

Anyway - this was much better than this morning. Nice way to sign off I guess!

Are people fuel saving using the green dial or by short shifting? How many pit stops are you guys aiming for?
Thanks!
my custom races, I am short-shifting. And in the audi, it doesn't take much to get 10 laps. I've been practicnig 10/9/9, and I'll likely do the 10 on my first stint because you can save even more if you are in a slipstream for a few laps. At least, this is what I've found in my custom races, real humans are a lot more unpredictable.

Difficult to say for certain. If you can upload a video of the incident, it would be easier to judge.

But just from reading the description, if they hadn't fully overtaken you and moved into you, sounds like they took themselves out.

Heading up to the breaking zone, they should've just stayed on their line and they'd hold the inside line through the turn, forcing you the long way around.

On the cappucino race quali at Atlanta, the guy who already clocked his pole lap tried to overtake me on the last chicane on hot lap 2 with a super aggressive dive and then pull to the right for the turn. All I did was brake at the normal braking point and stay in a straight line on the right track curb and he flew past, across, and away from me and my car didn’t even react to the contact. He didn’t quite clear me before his attempt to widen the turn and took himself out.

Was pretty funny and he didn’t try to accuse me of anything and he got pole anyway.

First race GT2 B driver
I quali p4. Moved up to p2 after a couple laps. Pitted end of lap 8. After pit exchange p2. About 2 seconds from lead. Spin out on two consecutive laps in fast left hander at top of mountain. Ended up p7 for 100 points. Will have another go.

Just did the race with my alt. Boy oh boy. That was more like a destruction derby 💀

Lots of B/B drivers in this lobby.

Door 16, Quali was wild, got hit in the last corner by the guy who ended on pole. Finished with a 2.16 on P10 (lol).

Race was more like who survives and doesn't get damage. Hit the wall in almost every lap (again) and finished in P4 in the end. Had huge problems with the Porsche. Usually I am good in it but this was nothing.

Next time Bathurst is in the Nations or Manu Cup I'll definitly skip it 😂

For all it's flaws in packed races, I genuinely love bathhurst. I used to hate it, but since the Genesis time trial recently (?) forced me to spend some real quality time with it, I appreciate it so much more now.

I think it's one of my top 3 tracks to drive in this game, if not top.

When you absolutely nail a lap, it feels so better than at any other track. But when it all goes wrong....! 😂

Did the 12PM EDT GT2 slot in NA. I was the lone DR B driver in a field of As, including @GlockPants (nice to see you again!). Door #16. 164 points up for grabs. Driving the VW Beetle. I needed a P7 or better to improve my score for the season.

I qualified with a time of 2:06.758, well off what I was hoping for, but good for P9.

Lap 1 of the race was generous to me. I came out of it in P6, just picking up positions from crashes and offs.

gtws-mc-rd3-lap1.jpg

The BMW behind me was right on my bumper for the next little while. That changed on lap 4, when I got so distracted watching them in my rearview mirror that I got the entry to The Esses completely wrong and gave the lawn a mow.

gtws-mc-rd3-off-track.jpg

Thankfully, I managed to maintain control of the car and get back on the track without spinning, but I picked up a track limit penalty. The BWM easily got past as I served it. Down to P7.

Not much happened after that. There was a decent gap to the cars behind, and the BMW was faster than me so they slowly walked away from me as the race went on.

I did end up picking up one more position from a car ahead that crashed some time later, putting me in P6. And that's where I finished, for a 130-point haul, and a slight improvement to my season score. I'll take it!

Off to the ring next.

Just thought I'd warn you, just because you're on target for 10 laps easily with no fuel saving in the first stint, so pit on lap 8. Then have enough to get to lap 18, again with no fuel saving. Don't assume you'll have no worries doing the remaining 10 without running out on the run down to the final corner.

If you do run out on the run out going down to the final corner, don't in a desperate attempt to preserve your remaining momentum brake too late. If you do brake too late and run off track, don't assume getting back on track that just because you're out of fuel you can put your foot flat to the floor without spinning the car out.

Good job I'd already decided to go again at 9pm.

GT2 Aston Martin High B/S 1P NA east slot with @GlockPants.
14 A/ 2 B drivers. Door 16.
Quali after lap 1 @GlockPants better me by .001 for provisional poll.
Had a better second lap and quali P2 with glockpants P3.

Started P2 behind a vette. I got a run on him out of turn one. He takes a defensive line into T2 in the uphill. I get past him in a switcheroo into the uphill for P1. Running clean laps till the pit window. Decide to stay out and pit end of lap 9 this race but I need switch to FM6 for this lap. I come out and have ~7 seconds? lead after everyone pits. Just need to get it clean and the win is mine.
I bring it home for 158 in P1 with glock in P2. As always, I do best when my races are basically time trials.

I wanted to do this race and practiced for it. It was all going well until............... I got towards the end of a fuel stint. The Renault turned into a 🗑️ 🔥 on 1/4 tank left, and is nearly undrivable up and down the mountain always trying to kill me. Think I'll sit this one ;). I should probably practice for the 12hr of Sebring on iRacing anyways :scared:

Well it's not going to be fun reading your race reports. Let me tell you why.

The week hasn't started the best. A cold moved in on Monday and yesterday I had to have a problem tooth out meaning I've been suffering a little the past 2 days. So what better than a good old semi endurance at one of my favourite tracks. Managed to put in a good time for me in the few laps of free practice I had with a mid 2:06. In qualy I went wide as the car refused to turn out of the chase. I kept in a straight line but lost time. On my second lap I spun out of the cutting. However my poor lap was still good for P11. At least I knew I was faster than some of those ahead, so a good tactical battle might have been incoming. Lap 1 and a car mucks up Hells corner and I gain a place. I hold off a Ferrari who promptly outbrakes themself into Griffins. As soon as I leave the cutting I disconnect. Frustrated and with a long time before the next race I go into the 900 race now that I have unlocked that menu to pass the time.
Time for the next slot.
My first qualy lap is looking o.k. Then I leave the dipper to find another disconnect! I mean seriously PD! Why is this still happening after a couple of years? And why when it happens do you still loose DR and SR. The first disconnect left me with 1% B DR. So now I have been thrown into DR C through no fault of my own! I'm going to have to risk the chaos of the dailies before Saturday to try and get back into B to try and salvage my manu season after a poor couple of rounds at combos I'm not suited to. (My fault yes)
Really frustrated after looking forward to this round and Nurb of course.
And now I don't have the time to try another round tonight.

For anyone looking past Bathurst (or is already done with it), I did a six lap stint in the 'offical' TT for Nord on Saturday (on the AO account since their Bathurst stint is over).

The whole thing was quiet cloudy. The GT2/3 drivers won't have to worry about rain at all, and even though it did rain in my one session on lap six, the GT1 folk won't have to worry about it either. It barely rained enough for the wipers to come on and not even enough for the grip bar in the lower left to even register the track was wet.

What I can say is it 'felt' cold. I didn't look to see if a temperature was given but with the clouds and generally gloomy weather, the car just didn't want to have grip, specifically on turn-in and accelerating out of slower corners. This was in the Jag. Maybe it was all in my head. Best lap of the six (no tire wear because they were just TT laps) was an 8:00.9. Felt like a good lap but definitely a lot of time left out there (but when isn't there at Nord?). Currently fastest [only?] Jag time out there (of AO people).

I'll be doing more of these, but that is what I know thus far.

Vaguely wretched race, but then I guess the RX-Vision is always on a hiding to nothing at anything hilly.

Weirdly I was going through T1 purple just about every lap, but even my fastest race lap was two seconds off the fastest overall. Did manage to gain four places but with one disconnect and one parking after running out of fuel (after he swerved to block me on Mountain Straight, ffs) it wasn't all that. Probably gained the spots by using far less fuel than anyone else - I pitted lap 11 for 55 litres and could have managed with 50...

As predicted, interesting set of races today. I ran twice and the two couldn't have been any more different! It is taking me a while to get to my report, immediately after my second race I had to go to an appointment with the dentist.

Shout out to @Moose78 from my first race and @flip6981 from the next! Good to see you both and glad to read you had good results.

GT2 - A/B Lobby 164 points for the winner.
Door #8

Two words describe this Race: Error Prone.

In qualifying, I exited the pits among too much traffic. I'd exit out and get back out but I only had time for one flyer, and it wasn't very good. A 2:06.967 placed me Q11, over 2 seconds slower than my best FP lap. But this is Bathurst and anything can happen, so I wasn't discouraged by the placement.

The race started fine and I can at least say I was not the first Porsche to have an error. That honor belonged to this fellow at Turn 1 on the opening Lap.

18e5d57bfec32-screenshotUrl.jpg

So, pressure is off, right? Hardly.

At this point, I was behind the Corvette but got a slip steam down the Mountain Straight and made a good pass into Griffins Bend. Now behind a BMW who was all over Moose's rear bumper.

There would be some bumping between the two of them up the mountain, but didn't look overly bad.

18e5d57bfec84-screenshotUrl.jpg

Unfortunately, the first Lap was probably the only one I didn't make some mistake. But among my deficiencies driving through this race, I had two instances where my PSVR2 lost tracking while racing. A very jarring error to have, especially at Bathurst.

Today it was The Esses, though, that had my number.

18e5d59a11817-screenshotUrl.jpg

It was otherwise a straightforward race. I would take on fuel and fresh tires after Lap 8.

I'd cross the finish line P9 for 109 points. Not really the result I had hoped for.

GT2 - A/B Lobby with 158 points for P1.
Door #7

After regrouping my thoughts, I tell myself "Just be clean." I don't care how slow it feels, slow is smooth.

Qualifying was much better this time around. Smooth was indeed fast. I set a 2:05.409 on my first flying lap. Good enough for provisional pole. But on my second flyer, I was up a bit at Skyline but ran into traffic at Forests Elbow and that was that. The Corvette from the last race would go on to set a 2:05.302 and Flip a 2:05.397. Q4 6 tenths away from the Top 3. Pretty pleased with starting Q3.

Time to race!

18e5d5a0f3943-screenshotUrl.jpg

No one up front makes a mistake in the first turn this time. But Flip gets by the Corvette as we make our way up the mountain. The Corvette would get too wide going into The Cutting and pick up a half second track limits penalty.

18e5d5a26149-screenshotUrl.jpg

This would create an opportunity to get by them down Conrod, Flip just a little ways ahead. But he'd be gone and never seen again, just off in the distance.

I still was just trying to keep it clean, a good gap has opened behind me as well. Perhaps I got too relaxed on Lap 5, where I made my only mistake of the race. The Esses, again.

18e5d5a3fa643-screenshotUrl.jpg

It's really the Groundskeeper's fault. They missed a spot. But I'm sure those stewards back there were shaking their heads in disappointment seeing me smack the wall again.

The gap behind had closed now. I lost one position and I was exactly where I didn't want to be. Sandwiched between the Corvette from before and a Jaguar also from the last race (and winner from my Grand Valley round).

A couple laps would pass like this. The Corvette would get by somewhere. Then exiting The Chase, the Corvette ran a bit wide and put some tires on the grass. I think the pressure from me behind caused them to panic a bit and briefly lose control.

18e5d5a5a1643-screenshotUrl.jpg

We came very close to touching, but after review, the error was all them and no contact was made (phew! I was worried).

Now to work on the Jag ahead. And my chance to overtake didn't take too long. Lap 8 at the top of the mountain, the Jag ran wide and onto the grass just before Skyline. I was so focused on their bumper I followed them a bit but I managed to keep control of my car. They did not.

18e5d5a6ece3-screenshotUrl.jpg

I'll take P2, thank you very much! I'd again pit at the end of Lap 8 for new tires and fuel.

The rest of the race was clean and uneventful. After everyone had pit, I was back up to P2 and on the last run down Conrod Straight I could see Flip way in the distance clinching victory!

18e5d59d5aa26-screenshotUrl.jpg

It was a good race and P2 would earn me 152 points. My best haul ever, the promotion to A rank has been a boon to my results. CRB, too which is amazing in its own right.

I think I'm in a good position going into the final round. I'll likely only have time for one attempt at The Nordschliefe this Saturday. So if I can't turn a good result, I have two good scores now to fall back on.

EU GT1 SLOT 9PM

Absolutely binned it in qualifying.

Started 16th. Fantastic race all around with no mistakes no fighting no quitting no one taking each other out.

Got up to 4th despite the early traffic and shared some fantastic racing up and down the field. Rarely does a race line up so perfectly for both a)your own result b) the quality of the racing and c) the clean race as a whole.

185 points for the beetle. Time I concentrated on getting to A+ ...

AND ...

I DIDN'T TOUCH A WALL ONCE 🤣

MIRACLES HAPPEN
