GT2 B , did it only once

Qualification went horribly for me as i gotten penalties during it thus i ended up P13
Race went pretty good , i managed to get from P13 to P5 but those pesky track limit penalties i dropped to P8 and then to final P7

Kinda boring race , i wish it had some strategy so have fun out there :)

Prior race I really fancied my chances based on my practice runs and my fastest laps.

B/S lobby and my qualifying was really subpar, could not get a good lap and was just not good enough, mistakes every lap.
Still got second place behind and Italian in a Lambo, just before an Irishman in a Ferrari.

Start went okay, could follow the Lambo but was pressured by the Irishman and a fellow from Dubai in a Porsche so had to defend for several laps while the Lambo slowly got away. After about 4 laps I managed a small gap from the cars behind and could focus on trying to get to the Lambo who was just over 2 seconds away.

But still my laps were not good enough compared to practice. Maybe focussing to much on avoiding penalties, but could only gain a few tenths on the Lambo.

Then end lap 10 the Lambo crashed in the last corner and suddenly I was in the lead and more then 2 seconds clear of the car in second. Was I going to get another lucky win?

The Irishman in the Ferrari really found some speed and in the next few laps he fully closed the gap . Starting the last lap he was right on my tail. I defended the whole lap but going to the final chicane he got next to me and overtook me, bit of contact, but nothing to bad (see below image).

So lost the race in the last few corners and got 2nd place.

I am i bit miffed with myself that I was not driving as well as I should have been able to, and also think I was in a strong lobby judging the laptimes in some higher lobbies. But full congrats to the winner, he was so much faster in those last laps, he fully deserved the win! And both he and the Porsche driver were good sports, plenty of oppertunity to take me out if they wanted but do feel they did all possible to race clean.

Well, at least i got the CRB, that's 14 out of 31 races, not bad.

Coming race I will likely not be able to to join due to work but that means I can start practicing for Sardegna already, let's see how the Ferrari Gr. 3 is doing there...

Good luck to y'all yet to race. For those still in doubt, try it, it really is an awesome track to race!!

I am going to watch MotoGP and Le Mans now!!!

Asia GT1 Slot 2, door 5. As expected, the Cayman is completely outgunned.

Qualified last after a terrible first lap and then a spin on a kerb on the second lap.

Then drove a really good race. One small mistake through the final chicane on lap 18, but otherwise really consistent laps pretty close to the limit.

Got 5 places from other cars going off during the race, but gave 2 back because everything was so much faster. Finished p13 for 133 points.

The Cayman is so slow it loses around 0.2 of a second to the Supra on the long straight in the slipstream.

Not going again, just too deflating to drive so well and see everyone else drive off into the distance.

Needed a break from the outside heat so jumped into a session with only a couple of practice laps. Euro GT2, on the low B/S backup account with Chevrolet.

#9 board for the Corvette. Usually I wait until almost everyone has gone out in qualification but thought I'd need the extra time today, so got out 3rd. A good choice as I absolutely screwed up the first lap. Had to drive safe lap 2 and only did a 29 but had just enough time for a 3rd attempt - managed a 27.1, slower than testing all week, only enough for P8.

A decent start. One Cayman didn't react off the line, another went wide through the esses so up to P6. Immediately obvious the front few cars were too quick for me so a podium wasn't on the cards. Ended up in free air, a few seconds gap ahead and behind. Solid laps in the 28s, made up a couple of places after errors from the leaders. One of them in a Supra came back up to me, I didn't fight and they zoomed off again.

Kept it clean to the end. A Cayman was catching me by about 0.5s a lap. On my bumper laps 14 and 15 - they rear-ended me at turn 6 on the last lap. An accident as they apologised after the race and I was pretty early on the brakes anyway. Managed to keep it on the tarmac and held them off into the chicane to secure P5 and my target 50 points (plus another rare clean race).

I'm really liking the Gr4 Corvette. It's down on power but very balanced and easy to drive. Still dreaming though of a GT4.R Camaro - and a C8R or Z06 GT3.R for Gr3!

Here's hoping the RSR performs better. It was the main factor in my decision to go with Porsche. I'm probably fortunate being in the lower class where the car's limit is less of a variable in how good of a result you'll get with the Cayman.

How good do you think Verstappen could do in a Williams?

The RSR will be strong. It’s been a bit hampered by recent BoP changes, but it’s always competitive. I’ve been driving Porsche in almost every season. The Cayman has always been an underperformer but this version of BoP has made it completely useless.

To answer your last question, ask yourself if you think Fernando Alonso, at the age 64, suddenly became a better driver in the off season.

Verstappen would be better then the current drivers, but no way he would win races. Same for Hamilton, Alonso et cetera.

Maybe the question should also be; How good do you think that Stingray Robb could do in a RedBull F1 car?

Just did EMEA GT1 first slot, that didn't exactly go to plan.

Once again qualifying got the better of me and I couldn't hook up a good lap. I was almost 2 tenths purple on my second flying lap, only to then screw up turn 7. :boggled: I ended up starting P9 with a 1:25.8.

Unfortunately, the start of the race immediately got to me. I've never done an online race at Road Atlanta before, so I was very anxious about surviving the start, not picking up any track limits penalties through sector 1 and not punting anyone. I had no intentions of going for any moves or the like off the mark. I just wanted to get settled in above all else. However, I had a Porsche starting in front of me, and apparently that's a bad mix on this track when you're in the AMG.

The Porsche was so slow off the start that he had to immediately go defensive into turn 1. Just from the run up I'd ended up side-by-side with him and then had to try hang on around the outside. Things got even worse because the Dodge that had started P10 took full advantage of the awful line I was forced into and sent it into turn 3. It's tough seeing the apex there on a TV, let alone in VR. By this point, my composure is hanging on by a thread.

From there things just got worse, almost binning it at the last turn by clipping the grass, picking up track limit penalties etc. Worst by far was when I ended up behind the Porsche again after he'd lost out from some fighting and completely misjudged my position on the track. I'd unknowingly drifted further right than intended and put a wheel onto the grass heading down to the sector 3 chicane when I reached the braking point. The car immediately veered left and spun.

@D_Dragline - If it's any consolation, even if you can't outrun someone in the Porsche Gr.4, maybe you can make up positions by causing mayhem off the start due to how slow it is. 😅

That threw me all the way down to P16, where I eventually got my composure back... with about 5-6 laps to go. I eventually finished P14 after a Silvia and the Dodge from lap 1 made major mistakes of their own later in the race.

Time to go get ready for slot 2...

Ran the 4 o'clock CET race in GT3, in the Alfa 4C, had run a couple of practice runs and worked away the penalties I thought. I hadn't.
Bad qualification, penalty on my final flyer in T2. So started P10.
Had some mayhem ahead of me on lap 2, so finished P8.
no real events for me so I thank the lobby for the clean race and a guy goes "Racing Grandpa, not cool".
Miffed I ask what did I do and the answer was check replay
So I did and his race was destroyed twice but not by me.
And then the game shows me a flaw.
There's no way to know what his PSN is....
The Nickname and PSN is shown on the presentation prior to the race but never in the replay. Clicking on the name in the replay doesn't give the opportunity to go to his page.

Now I don't feel tarnished at all, I know I did nothing but I wanted this to be a lesson to everyone about the importance of checking replay before accusing anyone of something.
He was dead certain I wronged him
Here's the incidents. I am in the yellow/green 4C 2 spots behind in the first and ahead in the second

He is obviously the guy in the Nissan.
If anyone knows him, please point in this direction

first morning slot, say 'Good morning' to @Talon16 and @jimihemmy. Mixed A/B lobby worht 14? pts. I noticed there is an earlier race today, so jumped in. My free practice was a disaster and I considered backing out to clean things up but went ahead and entered. Pulled off an ok P7 to qualy.

Stayed P7 through the first third of the race, no one is making mistakes. Mid race, Had P5 for a bit, but things started to get messy. Avoiding others cars, I ran into the grass at the start/finish to avoid another disaster. Still P6 or 7 but pace started creeping down as the tires wore on. Even lost a place to a cayman!! Fell back to P9 to finish. The last lap+, I had some good side by side racing which was fun even though I gave up the P.

No penalties but the runoff probably cost me a CRB. My biggest problem was tensing up on the turn before the straight; probably the most important turn to get right! Need to find a relaxed way to carry speed through there.

Might run again this evening, it is fun to race here even if it resembles a dailyC. I really think I let 2 or 3 Positions slip by today.

Oh yeah, @Talon16 won, I never saw him on track, too fast for me. Congratulations!

You can narrow it down by going to Game Base, Search Players, and Players Met - most recent will be first (and the game is also listed).
Yes. Unfortunately that gives me a.list of 16 people with different names.than in game. Apart from one they all had a different nickname than PSN.

So I have to hope he watches his own replay, but he is more likely to just go back to the next race and move.on.
Edit: this is an excellent reason never to retaliate.

Let’s hope that your go at it this evening doesn’t let “the science” pick your GT2 field :-)
Would be nice if you can at least have the race with final points landing unswayed.

Just completed the middle GT1 slot in the NSX, that race was a frustrating one, involved in a battle with Silvia's and a genesis. Absolutely mugged down the back straight and put of the chicane almost every lap. You can get a decent lap out of it but in races you have to maximise sector 1 and hope a car doesn't back you into the car behind. Qualified p10 finished p7 but was catching 6th if I had another lap or 2

Porsche is so annoying. RSR is a great car. Solid choice of car at pretty much all tracks. As for the Cayman Gr4… Such a nice a car to drive but is so underpowered that it’s useless to drive. Even in a fuel saving race it’s useless.

As mentioned you can see the people you raced in the PSN game search. The only option you have is to save the last hour off your gameplay replay and then you can see the PSNs in the lobby.

Just had my second attempt, went much better. Although the matchmaking on the lobby, good grief. I'm barely in A+ so would expect lobbies in the 250-260 point range. This one was worth 291! :odd:

Qualifying went better with a 1:25.5 but in such a high lobby (possibly highest I've ever been in) it was only good for P10. Definitely out of my league. No Porsche starting in front of me this time, but I still somehow got one hell of a run on the Silvia in front of me down to turn 1. Whilst amusing considering how many of them are around, it meant I turned into the Dodge from my first race as I went to the inside so I could actually see what's going on, except I didn't make the move into turn 3. I've got the feeling the Citroen starting P11 probably won't have liked me much for that since he was right up my bumper.

Unfortunately, I promptly shot myself in the foot by going a bit too wide at turn 5 and picking up a track limits penalty. Serving that on lap 1 dropped me all the way down to P13. What I don't understand is that the Silvia in front of me did the same thing, but didn't get made to serve his penalty with me.

From there I managed to get my head down and go. Eventually was running in P8 because of a few major mistakes along the way. I was fighting a Genesis for P7, but one of the people who'd made a major mistake caught us and got alongside me heading into turn 1 on lap 19. What I didn't know was that there were yellow flags up on the run down to turn 1. I brake a little early to concede the position as I know the game is up, then see the marshal stand after turn 1 waving a yellow flag. The Silvia got a 3s penalty for overtaking under yellows.

He split me and the Genesis up and by the time he served the penalty, there wasn't enough time for me to get back on it.

Whilst I benefitted from the penalty, I really think this reinforces that the VR HUD needs to show more race information. It's not acceptable to be completely unaware of yellow flags because some parts of the track just don't have any digital boards or marshals to look out for! Here's the timestamp to show what I mean.

Ended up P8 for 206 points. I'm banking that!

This has been a complete contrast to the Catalunya race for me. I expected to struggle there, and do well here - but I put out a decent result at Catalunya and instead cannot get the Viper to do anything at all here. It does quite competently in qualifying and in practice, but when you put the race fuel into it it loses all momentum and becomes an absolute slug in the back straight.

I'm losing pace, even in slipstream, to pretty much any car I've had to contend with. Both slots so far have seen me lose multiple positions in the first lap because everything just flies past me. It's kind of crazy.
On the bright side, I'm not the only chump to be bestowed with this problem, and my last race saw me racing alongside a Corvette for the entire race for crumbs at the back, with both of our cars having absolutely no top-end whatsoever. I have heard the Mustang has the same problem too. Clearly a conspiracy going on here /s.

Was good racing with the Vette though. I think we recorded the only example of people going through the esses two-wide (mostly) contact free.

Brought it home in the end in P10 for a meagre ~170 odd points. Debating to go again or not, as I don't know if the car is even able to keep up with the front runners, but 170 is still off my 200 point goal.

Edit:
Didn't run. Made dinner instead. Yom.

Pretty terrible run in the Ferrari for me.

Euro GT2. #5 board, matched that in qualification. Could maybe have got P3 with a bit of a cleaner sector 1.

Got too close to the front cars in the first few bends. Bumped a Supra in the braking zone for turn 3. Only a slight tap but from right behind, enough to push them just off track and give me a 2 second penalty. Dropped a ton of places, ran wide at turn of lap 2 and dropped even further back.

From P13 I thought about quitting but soldiered on. Got up to P9 behind a Lambo but stuck there. They were driving a good defence and the Huracan was gapping my 458 down the straight so I couldn’t get passed clean. Had a few shots at a lunge but driving a bit timid today. Another mistake at turn 1 dropped me back to P13 again and I could only make up 1 place before the finish.

Bitterly disappointed with that race. Looking at the lap times and gaps I had a great shot at a podium. The win was never an option - some madman disappeared up the road in a Swift! The heat didn’t help, I’ll blame that for the losses of concentration. I’m a cold weather racer.

Looks like it does. Especially in low light races where the actual flags will be worse to see.

It was still quite humid for the 9am slot. But then my body temp was still rocking around the place after my illness so it could have been that. Try a desk fan placed near you. It really helps. I have one with a clip I can put on most things nearby.

Anyone else had their last race (EUR) just crash on them on the results board? 2nd place + fastest lap...

I know all Polyphony cares about is how many units they can sell, but some people should really be banned in this game. I know we have been belly-aching about this for an eternity, but my god man!
Not sure how these two things correlate. You have to buy the game to be banned, and if you're banned you'd have to buy another copy on a separate account to keep playing. If anything it'd be beneficial to sales if they started to ban people. 🤔

So went again, ended up in a tougher lobby ( according to the number board anyway ) although it appeared to have far more Caymans than the previous one which were a far better match for the NSX.

Qualified 8th, although the top 9 were only separated by 3 tenths. Looking to be a good race, only for chaos to ensue.

I was punted at T5 from 7th to 15th, someone else forced off at T3 were the only car behind, so the recovery mission started. The race pace of the NSX really did show, although overtaking was hard I was able to put in multiple 25.xx laps. While working my way up the field.

Ultimately finished 6th, second was only 4 seconds up the road, so a missed opportunity if not for lap 1...

Get the feeling Porsche drivers are going to be punchy in the GR3 races to make up for these first two rounds

My point was and is, they don't care about the quality of game play. I can almost guarantee if the ban hammer was used quite heavily, a lot of people would shy away from buying the game because they know they couldn't get away with their shenanigans.

Ugh, took 3 tries for an acceptable result today.

GT3
DR/SR - C/S

Race 1 - 0900
This lobby was worth a lot of points for GT3. Qualified P5, less than 1 second behind pole. I was expecting just to race to the end and take my points and go. Around lap 2 or 3 I go wide on T1 while attempting an overtake. Bungle the reentry and spin, after I let traffic by I'm P14. I manage to make up a few places, but after all my practice on this track, I know I can do better.

Race 2 - 1000
This lobby was worth much less points than before. Qualify P3, 2 tenths off pole. Ok, a little bit better, I think. Nope. Coming into the chicane on lap 1, I'm following a Lamborghini and they brake much earlier than I expected and a lot harder than what I could react to. I punt them off the track by my mistake of probably following too close, I follow off the track and let them continue ahead and reenter after traffic is by. P15, it's ok, I deserve that. Get up to P11 by the end. Ugh, worse.

Race 3 - 1100
This is my last chance to race today, I have to make it count. I'm feeling pretty fatigued by now after 2 practice sessions and 2 races. This lobby is about the same as the last, 1st place is only worth 46 points, I've got the 12 board.
Qualifying round I manage pole, but there is a Cayman behind me not too far off and a B driver back in the field with the number 1 board, could be trouble.
The race starts and I'm off to a decent start, P2 passes me lap 1 into the chicane but gets a slower exit than me. I'm passing them down the front straight into turn 1 on the inside. They brake too early and I make the move clean while they exit wide and run off the track, reenter cleanly but I'm too far out ahead now. From then on, I run away with the race. I finish 31 seconds ahead of P2 ... Hardest I hope I have to work for 46 measly points

My race went great this morning, GT3 US

Had an awful qualifier, I waited 21s which I thought was enough, but I ended up catching up to a slower car lap 1. Took it REALLY slow through the chicane to give myself some space and get a good exit, but ended up catching them regardless near the end of lap 2. Lap 3 I was trying to get around them but deviated from my line, went off track, crashed. Tried to exit and retry, but didn't have enough time to finish my out lap.

Qualified P10 as a result.

Laps 1&2 were me trying to survive the pack, and gain positions when I could. By around lap 3-4 I started making my way through the pack, a lot of my lobby couldn't stay on track, racked up penalties, etc. I stayed focused and kept pace.

Through the rest of the race, I slowly climbed up to P2, and finished with a healthy gap P2. I felt like I'm definitely slower than a lot of the crowd, but felt like 1:27.4 as a best practice lap was good enough for GT3 as long as I had a consistent pace. Turns out I was right, very happy with my race results.

A couple of people gave up early, one guy may have disconnected because it looked like he was still racing, lagged out, then disappeared. Another guy quit after getting a 1s penalty for cutting the turn at the entrance into the downhill S curves too tight.

But all in all, very happy with that result. Congrats @GlockPants on P1 in that lobby!

Uploading a recording from my POV to YouTube now, will share it here later once it slowly processes it.
