Sooooo....

GT1, High A Lobby, 18:00, Door 4

Tried again after the horrible attempt earlier. Qualified 2nd again. This time, the guy in pole started 3rd in the 4pm race, and both of us finished at the very back. So it was a race for redemption for us both, but who would come out on top, if at all?

I had a PERFECT start to the race. I'd taken half an hour just to watch my previous race replay, and specifically watch the dominant driver who was about 1.5s a lap faster than me. It paid off, as heading into turn one I took the wide line on the kerb, Mr. Peasy took the safer inside line, and I absolutely did him for traction and was ahead into the lead!

I didn't look back. I was pulling ahead an average of 1 second a lap, absolutely possessed after the 16:00 horror show. By lap 15 I was 15 seconds ahead.

As the track started to dry though, I got a little nervous on worn old wets that weren't upto the job. Took a couple of 0.5s penalties in succession, followed by a trip into the gravel Schlossgold, and I decided to pit in for tyres on lap 23 with my gap to 2nd now down to just 8.8s.

However, whilst others all took the softs, I played it safe and went for inters to ensure I kept on the track, conscious of a couple of corners where I knew it was still very sketchy from the previous race. 8 seconds gap with 5 laps is fine, right?

I got nervous as Peasy didn't follow me into the pits (might he try and do a no stopper?), and I emerged about 5 seconds behind in 2nd. However, in that lap, I managed to take 2.5s off the leader before he then decided to box next time round at the end of lap 24.

From then on, it was just about concentration. I managed to extend the gap from 11 seconds after his pit upto 17 seconds at the start of the final lap, and brought it home for the redemption victory!

I am delighted, my 2nd win from 2 rounds at GT1 level, 224 more points taking me upto 451. I feel totally vindicated that I gave this a 2nd attempt because I almost decided not to with about 5 minutes to go before the race!

Disappointingly, I'm working away up north Tues-Thurs, so won't be able to play one of my all time favourite races on Weds (and I believe it was my first ever World series race I did as well), so I wish you all good luck and I'll see you all next week!!!

Took the family out for a day trip yesterday so was unsure if I would get any races in.

Managed to get home in time for the last 3 slots, but only had the energy for one attempt.

Only race in GT3 and it wasnt a high point scoring lobby.

Got a decent time during practice using the Ferrari.

Come qualifying, I've learnt since I joined an online league to just sit back a minute or so to five myself enough space to go for it (which appears in GT3 not alot of people do).

Got pole with a 1.5 second gap.

Started well and got through the first corner without any issues.

Get to the top of the hill though and made my first mistake to slip down to 2nd.

Next few laps I just concentrate on keeping in touch with first without making any mistakes.

Coming around the 2nd last corner on lap 6 though and I get on the power a bit too much and spin it. Luckily enough didn't slide into the pits. This drops me back to 5th.

Get back to 4th pretty quickly, and smash out some great laps to get right on the tail of 3rd (who was 1st when I spun, but he spun at the same time as me when going around the last corner).

We have a great battle for the next few laps with a bit of paint trading but nothing major.

Lap 13 starts and I push a bit around turn one and end up losing it again, but luckily had enough gap back to 5th where I could reset myself and just cruise to the finish line.

Only 31 points.

Hoping the next 2 rounds I can get into some higher scoring lobbies.

Ran UK slot one, banged it on pole and set off like a proper rainmaster... 🌧😎🌧

IMG_9708.JPG

Sadly the rainmaster wasn't that good in the dry. After a few laps on softs a GTR caught up and overtook. Finding I could then match their pace I unfortunately nudged them at the top of the hill as they got bogged down on a kerb and went spinning round.

Thinking it was my fault I slowed and pulled far left off the line... and for some reason they pulled up behind me, and by the time I worked out he didn't want to pass P3 had stormed into the lead!

IMG_9710.JPG

The new leader disappeared and we were left in a group of three with another Ferrari. Now it was my turn to get a bump, turn one the Ferrari was too keen and punted me wide. But they were good enough to stop and hand the place back.

Fighting for a podium place I then spun on the kerbs before the last corner, fell back to P5 and was gifted P4 by the GTR spinning on the final lap... phew.

So an opportunity missed but I enjoyed the extreme sportsmanship! On to the next...

I watched this race on Indian stigs stream, it was a really good battle.

Not much to report, I'm really poor at RBR, the rain only made it worse. 11th and 12 th is the best I could do. Had Super GT and Rory Alexander in my lobby. Which only makes people want to drive faster because they know they might get in a video. Wlimped out with 160 points in the last slot. Left licking my wounds after some seriously intense battles.

That was a fairly fun race! Plus this race went better than Wednesday's race, but once again it's another race where i picked up front and rear aero damage.

I joined the 2nd slot at 4PM, and i was door 14. I decided to go with the Audi R8 for this race. Qualifying went well since i qualified P4.

The race got off to a good start but i did lose a place on lap 3, but the top 5 were bunched close to each other during the opening 10 laps. Then unfortunately, on lap 11, a Ferrari behind me carried a little it too much speed into the T3 braking zone and crashed into the back of me, which also caused my car to shunt forward into the back of the Porsche in front of me. So now i had front and rear aero damage.

Thankfully i never lost too many places between lap 11 and lap 21, and i only dropped down to P7. I did drop down to P11 when i entered the pits to put on soft tyres at the end of lap 21. Then i lost another place while in the pits because the car that entered the pit lane behind me, managed to jump me in the pits because i had to get my damage fixed.

I did gain a position as i exited the pit lane because someone had spun at the exit of T1. Then i gained 2 more positions because 2 soft tyre runners ran slightly wide and they went on to the damp tarmac at T6 and T7. Then i passed someone on the intermediates, and then i gained another position because another soft tyre runner spun off at the exit of T1. Then on the penultimate lap i passed another person on the intermediates.

In the end i finished P6, which is a decent result. Maybe i could've got P5 or P4 if i never picked up damage earlier in the race. I also feel like i should've came into the pits a lap or 2 earlier to put on the softs.

Well for todays Nations cup race, could only slot in one race during day and despite a stressful chaotic day, I did the 4pm slot.

Round 2 NCUP - Low B class - EMEA region - 4pm slot - HONDA NSX Gr.3 (car no.14) at Red bull Ring.

I really hated the fact that the timeslots where every other hour, I dont get why PD do this and it seem annoying when you you cant always make specific times. However, With only ten minutes to enter, I dashed in to the lobby to get some quick practice laps, was pacing ok, did some test laps.

Chugged into the NSX and did some warm ups and got into the qualifying for the race. Setoff first and got good pace around the track, but slowly got outpaced by some decent drivers and ended up 7th, then 8th & then 9th lol. OK starting is not bad, lets go, in the middle is where I shall begin.

Race Start - As this was a wet rolling start, I couldnt use the NSX' power to jet off the line. A RSR 911 kept pace with me leading into Turn 1, but I held my ground an stayed in 9th, then chaos at Turn 2 slip sliding opponents and then made up a few positons. I kept battling and padumonium ensued as I made my way up to 5th a few short laps later. Trying so hard to stay consistent in the NSX, the car was definately a handful on the wets tyres. Keeping in 5th some guys spun out in the subquent laps and I was up to 3rd, tried to hold on to this position until lap 7-8, then the car became very unstable and I started losing pace. Served a half sec penatly and one guy pushed forward, then a guy in the Rs.01 Renault was tailing me for a bit. Keep jostiling for 7th place, but he evenutally got further ahead as the car tyres were not being grippy in the wet, it never eased up the rain, so I had to push harder and not lose control.

Overall, I finished 7th, netted about 55 or 65 points and was done with it. Unfortunately, the stupid in-game storage for replays failed me yet again, had to clear it after the race, so no pics I could take to show my race which sucks. I really hate how PD havent fixed this to allow more control over storage options for replays, it is ardous to clean up a messy replay allocation system.

Well heres hoping Round 3 is better as I found this race tough, maybe due to my lack of preparation, who knows, but lets go good for next time.

Well, it went much better than expected, started 3rd with the RCZ, but was bumped into a slide in the Remus (?) corner, 12th place from there, drove as best and as clean I could and ended up on 6th place, my goal was around 10th place, so I'm more than happy with the race and I'm done for the weekend. :)

Edit.

In GT3 League, it was wet the whole race, no pit.
I will be going with the rcz as well at GT1 8 or 10 pm slot, I find it behaves pretty well. My fastest lap (1:41i sh) was with traction control #2.

Was a bit eager for the next round and did some laps on RA. Jesus you get one corner slightly wrong and lose about half a second until the next turn 💀 This is gonna be fun 😅

Checked the standings after that and was a bit shocked.. Still 2 rounds to go but right now I'm pretty happy. Never finished with all 4 gold. Hope it holds 😅

What might have been...

First GT1 slot (6PM EST) in North America. I was in door #16, driving the Ferrari. There were 185 points up for grabs in a low A/S lobby.

Qualifying went as well as I could have hoped. I posted a 1:39.744. That is about as fast as I've been able to go in Free Practice and landed me in pole.

gtws-nc-rd2-start.jpg

The race got off to a good start. The driver behind (@Bobvita, was that you?) was right on my tail for the first few laps. I started to build a decent gap, but threw it all away on lap 8, when I got some power oversteer on T1. He got by me as I recovered. Now it was my turn to chase him for a while. He made his mistake on lap 18 -- going wide at Wurth -- and I was able to retake the lead.

I pitted on lap 20 for RS tires. P2 stayed out and took the lead. I came out in P2, ready to push for some gains on the undercut. All I had to do was keep the car on the dry line. But then...

gtws-nc-rd2-spin.jpg

Despite following the driving line assist, I caught the edge of the wet stuff braking into Rindt and went into the wall. Picked up front bumper damage and dropped two positions. I did the same thing again on the next lap, but thankfully didn't lose any more positions. It dawned on me that I couldn't trust the driving line assist there and for the rest of the race, I decided to trust my eyeballs instead of the assist.

By then, it was too late. One of the cars ahead pit, and I found myself running out the last few laps in P3 with a large gap ahead and behind. I brought home the bronze medal, but I can't help feel a little disappointed about it.

That gives me 170 points to add to my total. I'll take it.

First slot, primary account. Lobby worth 315 for P1; board #3.

Don't know what it is with me and quali but I can't seem to stop dropping the ball. Was practicing and hitting mid-39s pretty consistently (39.124 was my best), but when it's time to qual I can't seem to get close.

Q8 with a 40.3.

Ended up gaining a position lap one, and grabbing another lap two. Sitting pretty in P-Steve for the next number of laps. P7 is catching quick and goes for a move on the last right hander. I didn't fight it, and even gave him a bump draft on the front straight. He was tenths quicker per lap and fighting it would've cost me a lot of time still within the first 25% of the race.

The next 10 or so laps were pretty lonely, a few seconds from the guy ahead and a few seconds from the guy behind. After watching Digit, SuperGT, and other aliens within their respective streams (like Konsta for example) go with the RS tires and spin or go off track, I decided to play it safe. Pit at the end of lap 18 for IMs (still P7). A few laps later I'd see myself as high as P4 as others pit. I figured it was a faux P4 as one of the cars I passed spun while still on Wets; I knew his pace was better than mine so eventually he did catch and pass me once he switched to RS tires.

Fortunately for me, what I was hoping for ended up happening, and a few drivers who decided to brave the softs clipped the wet bits - either on their own or while fighting with others - and went off and/or spun. I was nursing my IMs as the rears were dying (I was running more on the dry line in this race vs the EMEA race). While I did some practice in the rain, I didn't drive long enough in the TT to practice in the drying conditions, so I was figuring it out as I went. Not ideal, but so it is.

Anyway, saw myself as high as P4 again with ~half a lap left, but an RS runner's push-to-pass in the infield would see me finish P5 for 263 points and a DR gain. Would've been nice to have that P4 but I am not upset about a P5. To start Q8, be one of the few (maybe only?) to go IMs, finish two places ahead of where I pit, and three places ahead of where I started... I can't complain.

Fun race that makes for some sweaty palms; exciting while it's happening but glad when it's over type of thing. Done for the day but will miss it come tomorrow.

Went very well driving the RCZ, on a 8pm GT1 NA slot
Q3
Lost 1 position on the first lap on an aggressive overtake... Go for it man, it is all yours.
Ended up finish 1 lap ahead of that guy...

Nice battles, switching to p3,4,5 back and forth during the race.
Most of the lap I could see P1 far away ahead on the long. Straight. Very cool view and feeling that it is within reach, maybe..
Gran Turismo® 7_20250125225449.jpg

I went for a pitstop at lap 24 for IM. exited 4th.
P3 is on RS. He is struggling a bit on wet area and I over take him.

On the final lap, I am closing the gap on P2.
We both are on IM, he has TCS, I have not.
I finish P3 .5 second behind... For 140 points.
What a race!

If I had gone for a pitstop 1 lap early....

Well, that Red Bull ring race ended up being much more fun than I was expecting! Top split in Aus / NZ this time, with the world series guys A. Lee, G. Barbara and co. Also a few big names on alt accounts, including Grove Street and a few others I can't recall. I was door 14, so wasn't expecting much....

Qualified P8, getting into the 39s, but had a big wobble that probably cost me half a second or so.

Again, as is usually the case with Nations here, super respectful and clean driving all round. Worked my way up to p5 in the rain, with a massive smile on my face....until the track started to dry. The guys behind me pitted for inters so I did the same a lap later.... but was considering going direct to softs but thought to go cautious to protect my p5..... Poor choice....1 more lap and the others pitted for softs and drove around me at the end while I sweated like a mess trying to keep overheating inters on the track.

P8 finish and 220ish points. Pretty happy but could have been much better!

Yeah that was me. Great racing with you. I stayed out until lap 23, I wanted to see if the dry line grew before trying soft.

Reminder to all - a penalty around Road Atlanta in a Cappuccino isn't just a 1 sec penalty - it's actually about 2.8 seconds here in real time!!!!

Going off line/slightly cutting just once here is gonna kill some people's races.....
Yeah, not sure what's worse, the Cappuccino race on Road Atlanta or the X2019 on Grand Valley. :nervous:

Honestly, I'm gonna skip this season entirely, mostly because I wasn't able to do either of those first two rounds but also because I'm really just not interested in the races for this particular season. Hopefully the next season of the Exhibition Series will be far more interesting.
