Crying laughing at people genuinely saying they have "emotional hurt" and "discomfort" at the new art direction of the track.
Why? Just because you disagree with them?
Absolutely bewildering - there's a whole world outside your front door I recommend you check on every now and then. It might do you some good.
Point being in relation to Grand Valley?
If you want everything to look like the PS2 games you grew up with, go and play the PS2 games. They're still there. The rest of us will enjoy a beautifully done rendition of an iconic track.
Trial Mountain and Deep Forest don’t look like PS2 models, do they? Their remasters are problematic in different areas, but PD preserved most of their original feel. They could have done the same with Grand Valley at least. Turning it into a specific coastal environment that has been overused by games in recent years wasn’t necessary, and not “original” at all. The old Grand Valley location had its own character like all the other tracks in GT1. The new one looks generic as hell. Not bad, but generic and that’s a pretty big deal for something that got reasonably preserved across six GT titles.

GT7 feels like it’s on a mission to simply piss you off. No real campaign, no features, lacking events, insane economy and divisive art direction for classic circuits. Strange way to celebrate 25 years of something good.

Got to play Seaside Street Valley route 1 today. It honestly reminds me of the Daytona USA course with the massive bridge in it. This thing is Grand Valley in layout only, the visuals are totally different. I like it but wish it had been faithful to the original. Oh well, if I want the original, I'll fire up the PS1. The new track is welcome, it looks nice and plays well.

The server hasn't come back online yet, so I'll dig back in tomorrow.

Lots of, off track SUVs. Cayenne, SRT Cherokee, Mercedes X-Class Ute, Audi A7, Normal F-150.

Ferrari f12 on a tow truck, yellow R8 Spyder, new Nissan Leaf, New Beetle, older C-Class Coupe., what looks like a White Holden Commodore/Chevy SS. Edit: just a generic sedan.

naked dirt and jersey barriers

some of the track (especially the main straight) looks like a construction site

Love the track, the “vibe” is different. I think that has to do with the crazy grandstands the old version had? That made it more “arena like”.

I hope that the racing on the track is still exciting. Grand Valley was for me a curbstone track. Control the curbs, get the best times. Really hope that’ll be the same.

But if not, I like it anyway for it being back.

Everything I have to say about the new design (and that also definatly applies to Trial Mountain and Deep Forest Raceway) in one picture:

So far, of the three re-vamped circuits, this is the worst of the bunch.

The First Sector: Brilliant. I can't fault it at all from a racing perspective despite the re-profiling of Turn 1 and the left right sweepers with regards to the elevation changes from the previous version of the track.

The Second Sector: Very technical but it's pretty close to the original in feel. Not too sure about the tunnel personally but I can live with that, same goes for the updated bridge.

The Final Sector: This part of the track is where they messed it all up. The corner through the tunnel after the bridge. Yes it was always tight. But it was never a hairpin. The chicane after the tunnel, I love it. However. It's too close to the exit of the tunnel now that you don't see any reference points for braking or turn in (at least not in the conditions during the Circuit Experience). And seriously why ruin the final corner by plonking another damned tunnel on it.

As for the races they opted to launch the track with. Who in their right minds looks at that layout as a whole and goes "You know what class of racing would be brilliant here? Group 1."

Overall this track (at least for now) will be another joining the list of tracks that I will skip when they come up for online races along with Alsace and the two variations of Willow Springs that aren't the main race circuit.

Pretty much my exact feelings on this whole classic track fiasco, and genuinely wish they just hadn't bothered and left them in the past as this aggravates me far more than if they just weren't in the games anymore. All I see in this new case is a skinwalker wearing most of the flesh of Grand Valley, that really just should have been a new course entirely. Props to anyone who does like it but this approach is the most anti me stance a developer can do with legacy content.

I already didn't buy Sport or 7 due to various reasons (lack of content and always online in regards to Sport, those plus a bunch of others for 7 of which only car selling has been addressed) and was mostly just following the updates at this point for fun and the rare chance that I finally convince myself that 7 is worth grabbing, so yeah people can argue that I didn't have a horse in this race anymore anyway. But this has cemented further that I really shouldn't even bother paying attention anymore and stick to the games I do like in the series as I'm not going to get the GT game I've been hoping for (which being honest is essentially a hybrid of 2 and bits of 4). At least GT2 mods are really starting to get somewhere now so I've got that.

The best thing about the subtle differences between the old layout and the new is in sector 3.
I always hated that last chicane after the tunnel. I’d always run wide there and in endurance races it used to especially piss me off.
Now the chicane comes sooner after the tunnel and it’s much friendlier. The track still flows nicely everywhere else but now sector 3 flows better as well.

I always thought the final corner on GV was one of the best bits. Banked and mostly flat out but for some cars it was a lift before turn-in and messing the timing of the lift could easily mean running wide or not carrying enough speed through onto the long start/finish straight. You could easily mess up an otherwise decent lap or end up starting a with a speed or drafting disadvantage. Taking it perfectly was really satisfying IMO.

Aside from what looks like a lack of banking and now being situated inside a tunnel, i wonder if the different approach and lack of run off on the exit make the corner less important than it once was?

It’s a nice track but it’s not really Grand Valley. All the corner profiling and cambers are off. It’s also just too narrow in places which will make the GTWS race a potential headache.

It’s basically Grand Valley if someone hadn’t played GT in years and drew it from memory.

I don’t mind the scenery changes to the ‘remastered’ originals, I just wish they’d have kept the track profiling the same.

I've not been more excited for anything GT7 since the day before GT7 came out! This is going to be a long day at work... can't wait.

There will always be haters, but the track looks amazing. The BoP updates are great! Sophy looks fun. That new Honda F1 car is supposed to be super fun and it's not ridiculously expensive (I'm buying that and the Porsche right away).

I've said "Thank you, PD" a lot in the last 11 months, many of which have been sarcastic. This one is not: Thank you, PD!

I don't like that they moved the tunnel back and changed the design in Sector 2. I liked that if you ran wide you'd hit the entrance.

Cannot complain about the scenery though and gives it a "place" in the world other than the arena set up of previous iterations
