Yep, as expected, after lightning went through my router and into the PS3 (killing them both) I have to start all over again with a new PS3.
Telco has now sent me a new router and I also have a new 500GB PS3, loads on top instead of from the front, not sure that's better or not.
Anyway the girlfriend is back in town so I have fired up the new PS3 and found I have to redo some licences before I can get back to the Seasonals. This time I won't worry about getting gold, just getting through them so I can restart the Seasonals.
And it was so much fun doing the race, which took a couple of minutes, driving the Bugatti Veyron and getting gold. Oh well, may get gold again there one day.
One thing, Cargo won't see me behind him, or even occasionally in front of him, for a while and some of my other friends will gain a position or two.
Will get back into the Seasonals as soon as I can. Watch this space!

Good to see nature hasn't put the dampers on your zest for GT6, sometimes it's good to do certain games from scratch, gives you a certain and sometimes new perspective on the game as you go through it.

Well yes, Showmethepupp, I can see how that could be beneficial.
Thing is I have 5 (five) PS3 boxes inside, all of which once held working PS3's which means I have, since PS3 came out, started GT5 at least 4 times and now GT6 the 2nd time.
I'm totally over starting from scratch, you might say I've been there and done that. And that, and that and that etc.

One thing which really gets up my nose about this latest PS3 death is that I now cannot connect the PS3 to my big TV, the 50 inch one which I play on as the HDMI cable won't send the game to it. Now I know the HDMI cable is OK as I tried it on the boys TV and PS3 and it works fine, but it has damaged something on my TV so I can't play on it anymore.

So, in future, if I can't catch Cargo, it's all because I'm driving on a 32 inch TV rather than my usual 50 inch.

I should also add Showme' that I have been finishing Seasonals in a sub 500 position for a while now, so know my way around here a little.

Don't you do regular save backups to USB storage?
That was my question. About the HDMI cable, I'd still try another new cable in there and not assume the one you have is ok with everything just because it works in another device. Stranger things have happened.

That's just another one of your piss poor excuses. I play on a 27" moniter. The size of your TV has nothing to do with how well you perform, it is not a limiting factor. I've heard it all now...you've always got some excuse, but this one really takes the prize. I mean really.....the size of your TV.

not trying to defend the dude but i play on a 55 inch and when i go to my friends place and play on his 32inch tv and i am slower aswell ... it actually has nothing to do with size but its about the "getting used to" factor
if i would have played on a 32 inch all my life and not much on a 55inch i would probably be quicker on the 32inch one and vice versa, its really diffrent, you gotta adjust to to it and get used to it.
if my friend comes over to me and play on the 55inch screen, hes slowers aswell, because hes not used to it.

Ha ha ha, there you go Cargo, true to form old son.

I said, "So, in future, if I can't catch Cargo, it's all because I'm driving on a 32 inch TV rather than my usual 50 inch."

And guess what, Cargo took it as gospel.

It was a joke son. Fair bloody dinkum, tch tch.

Just went out and bought the GT6 Anniversary Edition for $64 Aud. Because it gives you $1,000,000 credits and 20 cars, with 'Special liveries and enhancements', hoo haa. Came in a nice metal cover too.
I found last night when I was able to access the Seasonals that my friends were there also, along with their blue lines.
There were none of my cars or my $15 mill though.

Is good you got the GT6 Anniversary Edition Dalone, I only play the time trials forget about the career mode.

You should always backup your save game to a USB Dalone.
Too true Hall, it's just that I'm not confident about doing it myself. Funny thing is I was going to do exactly that a week or so ago, at least one of my adult sons was coming over to do it for me/show me how, but that was when my main water line crapped itself and I had far more serious things to attend to.
I did save the HD out of the dead one though (like FarSideX suggests, thanks) so maybe my boy can still get all my stuff back for me. We'll see.
Anyway I'm back on the Seasonals again and guess what, I'm not doing as well against my friends as I usually do, usually only Cargo beats me, but now I'm down about 6 or 8 in the first two. Can't be the size and/or placement of the smaller TV, surely.:P

And like yourself Hall I only do the Seasonals now too, not worried about the rest of it.

I've been playing GT6 on a 21 inch tv but i recently got a new 42 inch 3D one so I setup my PS3 onto my new 42 inch and wow, what a difference but not in a good way lol. It seems to respond to my DS3 a little later than usual. I had to look at my settings just to see if i had AS on because it felt so weird. Anyway, i think i'll stick to the 21" for now lol. 3D was kinda cool though :D

I'm amazed you did not start backing up your saves after so many PS3 data losses. Usually I think one GT data loss is enough to make someone start backing up but to go through so many times and still not back up, I find it amazing. Good that you keep playing on at least 👍.

There can be some high input lag in some TVs even in game mode so always good to check out the reviews and see if anyone has tested it regarding gaming. I need to get hold of a CRT and compare to my 24" TV to see how slow it is. Maybe best to get monitor only, less likely to have as much processing as some TVs do. That I think is one good thing about using wheel over a normal control pad, you can react to force feedback. When I used to react to what was on the screen in cockpit view using wheel I was much slower but once I changed to bumper cam with wheel I became much faster.

Yeah, even scrolling through the menu's i felt some lag. I thought it was the screen being twice the size of my 21" but like you said it maybe high input lag.

What is model number of TV and brand? Some LG TV's, changing input label to PC from HDMI name can improve things a lot.

Its a 42LA620V LG tv
Similar TV to one my family have, 42LM620T (Low as 31ms). Did you try game mode on your TV, going by review went from 143.7ms to 43.4ms when switched on. Also maybe changing label on HDMI for PS3 to PC might help it be even more responsive. Also always good to update to latest software for TV, might improve things further.

I'm only using it for watching tv anyway mate. I just wanted to see what the 3D was like thats all. But thanks for the heads up 👍

No problem 👍, I haven't tried out GT in 3D yet so might check it out one day.

Highly recommend you do, I ran the last TT in 3D and from the cockpit cam it makes a massive difference, you get a better idea of where the braking points are.

Does give you eye strain after a certain time but that may be due to too much 3d effect, million different variables.

I think the data on a ps3 is encrypted to only work on a specific ps3. If you swop hdd's it formats them. I could be wrong though

I think that is correct, it would be re-formatted in the new PS3, however, I think with any one of these it would allow the HDD to be plugged into a PC and would possibly help to recover the all important game saves. 👍

Well, the absence of any kind of smilies and such would indicate that you were serious and just making excuses, which is just par for the course with you. (lol smiley, see how that works. :sly:) First it was the controller, then the ghosts getting in your way, and now its the TV. Can't wait to see whats bloody next mate. (done in my best Australian accent.) Gud day mate.:lol::lol:
