God damn, the Hotrod is stupid fast.

Haven't even touched the Funny Cars yet

Otherwise, this is properly good fun. No burnout warm-ups (shame), but with actual staging, which is nicely intricate. Pulls the sport out of the doldrums of the GT6 drag racing forum. @anim8r_uk if you're still there this pack is A Very Good Thing. 👍

Picked up black edition last night on ps3. Located the SLS amg to purchase, got the extra liveries. But somebody please help me locate the white ravenwest livery??? I've looked offline and online I'm not seeing it anywhere

Can you choose the cars the AI will use in the single player custom races? i no you can choose the car class, but can you choose the cars individually?

I know in the online option you can fill empty player places with AI, can you choose what car there going to drive or is it set automatically?

Nope, it's automatic.

Does anyone actually enjoy racing at okatuma or whatever it is called? I'm racing it now and absolutely hate CM's insistence with this circuit. The short course is bland beyond belief, but the long circuit is just driving hell. It really doesn't help that I am in the endurance set so it is at night as well. I have to dramatically reduce the AI everytime just to get onto enjoying the game again!

I hate the short circuit as well. The long circuit is exactly the same as the Okutama touge in Grid 2 though, so I have it memorized like the back of my hand :D

It's been in a lot of CM games, I wouldn't be surprised if it's code was included within the F1 game series! It's not memorizing the circuit that is the problem for me, it's just not a racing circuit. The way walls and obstacles jut out mean you are constantly heading for a crash. It hides all of the real corners. But by far the worst thing is how the AI drive it...

Should be the same as the PC patch content. I haven't received the 500k credits bonus though.

I think car upgrades finally work now. I went about 1 second faster per lap with all upgrades applied. It doesn't make the car faster, but it makes it handle more predictably and hold slides better.

I still don't think upgrades work, i went faster without on one of this weeks RCs,

on a side note my tablet finally come today from the Intel challenge.

Hmm interesting. I tested the upgrades on Focus Touring at Brands and Mazda Furai at Barcelona (both in Time Attack mode in Custom Cup) and they're both faster with upgrades. Then I tried this week's RC with R34 at Yas Marina and I got the same times with/without upgrades. It could be that some cars benefit and others don't. In any case, I think we agree that upgrades don't work as well as they should.

@pezzarinho17 Okutama is a great track for racing, more online than offline but those places (let's call it turn 3 and turn 9 after the bridge) you have to pull it in to avoid those walls, and go balls out down the mountain, but slow it down enough to get through the tunnel turn...

Top 6% on the last RC around there in the Enduro class with a loaner

Strange the SP/300 and the RS500 i run 0 upgrades and went faster, but what you say about the Focus Touring car is sounding true, yesterday i had some cat c runs and raced some surprisingly fast Focuses.
Need to test this...

If you say so. Personally, I have always found it to be fairly boring because you're just accelerating through it. If you want a real thriller of a corner, try the first sector of Mont-Tremblant. It's a long multi-apex right taken over a blind crest at 200km/h, and it's much sharper than you think. You have to suppress your urge to brake early for the tight right that follows, or you'll understeer straight off the circuit, then hit the final apex and somehow stop of car in the space of fifty metres to navigate the next corner.

I finally got the game this week and I remembered this post.

What a fantastic corner that is.

I was into shooters lately but i started playing GAS again and it reminded me how grateful i am for this game. I bought a PS3 only in 2010 to have my virtual racing kick satisfied with GT5. GT5 disappointed me and although i also discovered other racers like FM4 later on which truly is a great game, and games like Shift2 and Race Pro; GAS is actually the racer i always wanted from the get go and this just at the last moment of that console period, everything about it is just perfect to me 👍.

I wonder if it's the same for you guys and GAS came out as the victor of racing games on your last gen consoles?

I hope codies just improve the feeling of the open wheelers a bit more (i think physics wise that's the least well done of all the classes, as they don't feel planted but a bit floaty at the front), and just take this entire formula over to the next gen consoles in a year or two.

Yeah, on PS3 my favorite racing games are GRID Autosport, the F1 games, and NFS Shift. Lately I've been busy playing Destiny because my friend let me borrow his PS4. And I also started a season in F1 2014.

Yes for me GAS is the best racer on PS3, i started on NFS shift on a pad and loved that game even more so when i got a wheel. After that it was GT5 and very disappointed, it just didn't give me the buzz that i had with shift, as real racing would. The only thing that come close on GT5 was nord runs with some of the top guys. After that it was NFS shift 2 and the buzz of racing was back big time, even with all of it bugs this game was RAW, intense and you felt like you had been in a real race. It was a very hard game to master but i had a good group of friends who did and the racing was epic. A lot who couldn't get to grips with the game went back to GT and been stuck on that dull lifeless game ever since.

I moved on to F1, FRL and WRC3 but all the time still went back to shift2, then GRID2 was good for hot lapping like the GCs but online racing was poor because of the drift style, but was a ok game really. GT6 come out and wasn't going to bother with it until i seen it on sale, had some good run on nurb24 but that was it, same s**t really.
After getting board with GT6 i had a spell on shift1 again and loved it.

Then GAS came out and it hit the spot, RAW, intense racing like shift2 but without all the bugs, CM got it just right with this game its just a shame it come at the end of PS3, a lot of very good racers on my friends list are still stuck on GT and won't even try this game, they really don't know what there missing. Some friends have moved on to PS4 and got drive club now, but a few have come back to GAS. For me the only game i will move on for is pcars, am more than happy with GAS till then, im glad pcars has moved back :)

The problem I had with Shift was when I got to Tier 4, the AI got too aggressive and kept trying to take me out. It got kind of frustrating when I was trying to do a clean race.

I got bored with it, something that usually happens with the Formula 1 games as well. I never drive a circuit or car where I think "Oh, I haven't driven this in a while" so I put the game away for a month or 2. I'll come back to it, enjoy it for a week again, and shelf it once more after... It's a shame because I think the game is brilliant, but the Grid 1 & 2 careers are far more involving and adaptive.

GA is very good. As I have said before (and many have seen already) the billing by people it was gonna be GRID 1 but better wasn't the case, and that hype is why I bought it, BUT CM stated that the game was going closer to the sim-side than ever before, the OP has the statement. Having played a few F1 games, and calming the heck down, it's as close to that as you can get before "Official Game of ____" starts being tossed around. I love GRID 1, but I see that it's one of those rare strikes that I adore, whereas GRID 2 was a massive fully arcade racer that wanted to claim the Ridge Racer fanbase, and GA, while quite good, can go from mind-numbingly easy to infuriatingly hard for no apparent reason. The biggest adjustment to make is that in GRID 1, you can win in almost any car on any difficulty from go, depending on skill, and while yes the cars did float SOME, drifting felt fluid, and you could tell where the line was between drift and spin, and all the cars had little quirks that set them apart from the others, not so in GRID 2, and so far not really in GA, but don't hold me to that because I've not gone past level 2.

and so far not really in GA, but don't hold me to that because I've not gone past level 2.
There you have it :D

ps. one tip; if you are fast enough put the AI on hard because on medium they are moving chicanes that get in your way all the time. Also tweak around with the audio options because i remember i did and changing the output setting (TV/stereo don't remember the naming), made a huge difference and spiced up the audio immediately. The default setting numbed the sound if you play with a simple stereo system.

It's really interesting to see how different people like different games. Personally GAS just doesn't do it for me. I've maxxed out all disciplines at level 10 offline and I'm still not hooked. It's a step in the right direction from Grid 2, but it still doesn't recapture and engage me like Grid 1 did. The handling is still too vague and floaty at the limit. The career mode, although long and challenging, is too repetitive. It feels like they added races just to pad out the game. Many times I've driven a race and just simply got bored on lap 2 (even on Hard difficulty). In Grid 1 I can't get enough and wondered why career ended so quickly.

In retrospect, Grid 2 I feel was a better overall package than GAS (as crazy as that sounds). I feel CM should not have named that game as Grid. If you view it as a purely arcade racer it's actually excellent. The menu presentation, career pacing and the drifting mechanics are actually quite solid. My mistake was trying to compare it to the original Grid. I realize now that if it had been called something else I would rank it as one of the best arcade racers on PS3.

So in summary:
Grid 1 - Best CM game to date. Way ahead of its time.
Grid 2 - Worst Grid game, but excellent arcade racer in its own right.
Grid AS - Better than G1 in some ways, but not enough given the time difference between the two. You can tell its rushed and overall experience is lukewarm.

For PS4 I hope CM can innovate with career mode like they did with Grid 1, and completely rework the physics engine. And PLEASE no recycling past contents as DLC. Unless they do that I don't think I'll buy anymore Grids in the future. I recently got into PC sims and it curbstomps everything on console in terms of content, physics and racing. Their Dirt games are still excellent though (except for Showdown, but that's a clear one-off), so I'll still buy those. F1 games I only buy once per generation since they are all so similar anyways.

Fingers crossed CM can recapture their glory days 👍

Ok all I have to do now is one more online lvl and I will have the Grid Autosport platinum. Man this game was a really long game to plat I've been grinding out the online for the last 5 months so glad it's over and I can be proud of my platinum :D

I downloaded the Sprint DLC today, but I kept getting a message saying it couldn't download, even though I have been charged for it. I had a similar problem with the Touring Legends DLC, but got it to work; however, I still can't get the Sprint DLC.

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how did you get around it?

I'm with you there. I haven't even finished all of the final championships offline with Ravenwest yet. Online I'm up to level 120ish now just by doing the weekly Challenges. I'm aiming to get to level 250 by middle of next year. I'll probably just boost the 100 race wins to get plat since this game isn't holding my interest anymore.

I just got my platinum today :). Yeah the game got boring for me so I decided to boost the online. It took a few months but you will feel accomplished once you get it. Keep at it this is a pretty rare platinum to have in your list.

Probably because not a lot of people bought the game in the first place

Just recently got this for PC. This game is everything I hoped the first GRID to be, which is awesome by itself.: cheers: But I guess I must suck really, really hard, because even on easy AI (all assists off except ABS and no flashbacks) I have a hard time winning. Any pointers (except: don't suck :P)?

How do I put my own club livery on my car then race with my livery on the car? Or any other club livery
Club liveries have one livery which only the club manager can alter, but if you want to make your own livery you have to buy a car and when it is in the garage slot select it there and edit it.

Note: only applicable on your online cars.
