Codies must focus all of their key assets and strengths on GAS and Dirt. Period.

I'd rather they fall on the realistic/sim side of the spectrum.

They'll be welcomed with open arms.

Arcade lovers can always fall back on NFS, Drive Club or Horizon.

If you're going to do something, do it right. Rather than trying to please all gamers at the same time.

I think it's high time Codies join the GT/Forza ranks. You don't need a huge budget to make a realistic track or rally game. Just clever coding, experience and a LOT of passion for cars and racing.

IMO they did, GAS is a fun simcade racer that doesn't have much negative points and is accessible for everyone due to the huge amounts of options to customize the game towards your needs. If you want it more sim crank up the difficulty. The physics are a nice mix between realism and fun too.

Under the motto of "don't change a winning formula", they should just tweak the game a bit, improve on the points that need improving and make a next gen GAS with next gen eye candy 👍

The latter isn't their strength. Never was, and probably never will be. Instead, they should keep it at the simcade side of things. That's exactly where their strengths lay. They have a great formula that just needs to be improved upon.

Agreed. The full arcade and full sim side of the market is already saturated. If Codies are going to join them they will get murdered in sales for sure. If they can remove the floaty feeling of the EGO engine, their physics would be perfect. No, they're never going to be as popular as GT/Forza, but if they can create a solid game like Grid 1 again the fans will come flocking back.

The problem isn't with their design approach, but their last few games really haven't been great games at all. It doesn't matter if it's arcade, simcade or sim, if it doesn't make you want to pick up the controller to play it's not gonna sell well.

Agreed... with one major exception, two actually: Dirt 2 and 3.

To be fair, It's been 3-4 years since D3 was released. Lesse: Showdown, F1 games (hit & miss), G2, GA, and that F1 kart racer, I think anyway, have filled the void since. Dirt 3 is incredible, soundtrack and non-car selection of D2 was better but D3 has the overall, and had they not locked the initial five cars on the disc unless you had the new pass, I'd be hard pressed to call it ferpect, for me at least.

GRID AUTOSPORT Limited Black Edition PS3 29,99€
Is this a good deal?
Does it have proper t500 ffb suport?

Yes, I'd say that's great value. I'm not sure whether or not it supports the T500 fully, maybe someone else can answer that.

I only have the PC version, which fully supports the T500 and T300. When I say fully supports I mean that it will let you use the D-pad and PS buttons on the rim to control menus, and those functions are not able to be mapped (in the PC version) to a custom controller.

I assume PS3 version support is a given, it's listed on the Thrustmaster site:

In my opinion, no. The FFB is pretty lame (TX here) but the control with a wheel does beat a gamepad. The FFB feels like you are driving on a cobblestone road.

As for the game, it's done pretty well and can be fun - worth the current discounted cost.

I've been having a hard time deciding if I like Grid Autosport or not, and I think it's really just because I've been bouncing from discipline to discipline to level up. Between Ravenwest's idea of racing etiquette and the caffeine-addled steering response, the Open Wheel category is a tense grind. Then, later, I'm smoothly skipping over curbs with just a dab of opposite lock in an S2000 and having a great time again.

I'm curious -- do the Codemasters F1 games handle similarly to the Dallara in this game?

I saw clips of this game and looks pretty good on how its racing 1st, and really want it. Though the switching cars in championships seems a bit annoying.

Though I heard there is a Custom Cup mode, can someone tell me in detail about this mode because it looks like something I would use often?

Nope, their F1 games handle much more stiffly. It's like the cars have no suspension travel at all. Loss of grip is also quite sudden. The Dallara is floaty, but at least its progressive. I only have F1 2010 to make comparisons from though, so the newer games might be slightly better.

It's a Championship editor basically. You choose how many races (up to 5 I believe), which tracks, how many laps and car class. You can also set grid order to random, based on championship standings or previous race results.

Key word there being 'slightly', and that's probably the best word to use, so spot-on LeGeNd.

Good thing I didn't buy into the hype and buy them every year then  IMO the best F1 game for me has got to be EA's F1 Challenge 99-02. I played the hell out of that game back in the day, and I still like to take a spin from time to time. I spent hours analyzing my laps with the telemetry feature. Codemasters F1 games have great menu atmosphere, but the driving doesn't feel like F1 at all. Even F1:CE by Studio Liverpool drives better, and that's a game from 2006  And it's got classic cars all the way back from the 50s, instead of just from the 80s like in F1 2013.

Anyway, this thread is supposed to be about Grid, so I'll stop here :P

Ok, this sounds like something I'll use a lot. I'm going to get the game when I get the chance :).

I actually kind of hope they don't go ultra realistic like F1. F1 was pretty hard to get into and this would also enter the problem. The accessibility is what I liked in other Codemasters Racing Games.

Question: how many XP do you need to get to level twelve and the 'Legend' milestone? I have been going through the game trying to win every championship with Ravenwest, and I have gotten everything up to level eleven with a few championships to go, but I haven't gotten close to level twelve. My best is Open-Wheel, with 2.8 million XP.

It is immensely satisfying to join Ravenwest, because then you can order your team-mate to drive extremely defensively. Or, as I like to think of it, push the YOU SUCK NOW button. Particularly in Formula C and Formula B, where Arron Westley is your team-mate. It's not as pronounced as it is in other teams (join Razer in Formula C and you'll pretty much lap your useless team-mate), but he's still forced to be second. And on some circuits, I've even figured out his line at the start, and I can force him to lose a few positions.

Mind you, I can regularly take pole, fastest lap and win the race with no aids (except ABS) and forced interior view on Very Hard.

You can extrapolate based on the bar graphs under "Career Progression". I know you get level 11 on 2 million XP, so you can check how much more you've got to go on Open Wheel to fill out the bar. I'm guessing it's 3 million XP.

I already have - it shows you after every season. I'm currently a shade over three million in Open-Wheel, so I'm guessing that it's going to be five million to get to level twelve. So it's going to be a while; even running the final Tier 3 championship with Ravenwest and a 43% XP bonus, I'm still only getting about 350,000 XP per season.

Maybe I'll do it after I finish getting the Ravenwest awards in Touring and Endurance.

Holy crap, I know those bars are exponential, but I never thought it's going to be over 3 million to max out  Good thing I decided to stop at level 11 and concentrate on online then  If you do unlock unicorns at level 12 let me know :P

Does Ravenwest team actually make a leap on performance compared to other teams!? I am level 9-10 on all categories but I did not compete with Ravenwest yet, thanks in advance.

If level 12 is 3 millions aprox I think I will not bother to get that far to be honest.
