Same as me but I gave in earlier and pre-ordered from what I saw in videos. I really liked 2019 too so I think you will enjoy it and the handling. It is a thoroughly enjoyable 'simcade' racer that will fit nicely alongside GT7 if you just fancy some fun. If anything after watching the latest GT7 videos it kind of looks too clean and sterile now! But I know I will enjoy both.Originally said to myself I’d hold off and pick this up in a sale at a later date being released so close to GT7, caved yesterday after reading some of the positive reactions on here and have ordered myself a copy. Guess it’s different enough from GT7 to justify having both 😅. Plus I quite liked Grid 2019 and my main gripe with it was the lack of content and tracks plus with the career mode feeling like a checklist with no depth. Sounds like those gripes have been addressed with the new game so looking forward to giving it a go this week.
I would just do the career mode without any grind. You will end with all the cars and still tons of money by the end of it. Off course that also means getting the expensive ones last.Did anyone found an effective way to get money considering how expensive some of the cars are?
That’s really encouraging to hear. Hopefully the handling out the box is a lot better this time around as it took some tweaking to get it to feel great in Grid 2019. Only other gripe with 2019 was the lighting bloom when in dash/cockpit cam as it make certain corners impossible to see anything. Really curious to see how the adaptive triggers feel on PS5. Really does make older games feel numb without the effect now I’ve gotten used to it with other games like F1 2021 and Dirt 5.Same as me but I gave in earlier and pre-ordered from what I saw in videos. @wicken From quickly playing so far it looks like playing the story through first then starting the career should unlock plenty of cars and money. I have already unlocked and purchased 3 cars with just the story and a few career races so far.
Yeah, the bloom isn't as bad but the rain is quite heavy and tough to see out of sometimes but I did get round the track in cockpit cam fine and the lighting has been better placed this time and not too much sun in the eyes. That’s really encouraging to hear. There are mechanic and driver perks that decrease the cost of cars and upgrades and reduce the amount of money you lose from using loan cars or teammate expenses. Get all those when they're available, and most if not all cars have a tier 2 upgrade perk that lets you earn more money when you use them, so invest in those on the cars you like to use most. Beyond that, as other folks have said you'll get a lot of cars for free just from doing career events, so doing the opener event in each discipline will give you plenty to work with.Did anyone found an effective way to get money considering how expensive some of the cars are?
Ooh good shout. Check the credits (though maybe do it after the story incase there’s any spoilers) as I’m sure it’s not Rory.Enjoying it more and more, especially after completing the story which had me hooked all the way through and had an incredibly satisfying ending! 👍
And by the way, who voices Inel? I always think it is Rory Reid because they sound so alike.
That bug report form is not working properly. I used it once earlier today, not going to do that again.FYI to everyone by the way, the official tech support area is here:
Worth logging stuff there as we have a team of support people who can collate it all and relay to dev team for (potentially) quicker fixes.
Not exactly, no. In the advanced section at the far right you can change the way the field is ordered and there are a number of options, but nothing that lets you pick a specific spot on the lineup to start from.in race creator, is there a way to pick what exact position you want to start the race in? maybe i"ve just missed it?
I’ll let the Answers team know about the form 🙂That bug report form is not working properly. I used it once earlier today, not going to do that again.
You can’t submit something from the get go, there is only a preview button available the first time. If you then preview it, some weird miraculous way I managed to enable the submit button but I had to type in all fields of the form a second time since they were all erased, and my “preview” is then added a second time as plain text… This is my earlier reported issue where I literally had to fill in the form twice: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/Visual-bug-with-sponsor-cards/m-p/11322039#M77
Anyway, just wanted to let you know i had an achievement to do 5 races in the snow unlock after… purchasing a tier 3 unlock from the mechanic. Clearly a bug as the trigger for the achievement is all wrong. See the screenshots below.

If you purchased the Xbox Deluxe Edition, but your game shows as the base version (!) Go to the store, select Grid Legends (it will show as owned, scroll down to see the add-ons for the game, select show all, then the Deluxe Upgrade will appear there as owned. Select it, click on manage (grrrr) and you will see all the items. Select all, install, and voila, next time you lunch your game your content will be there, but, as with GRID, there is no visual indication in the game's digital cover that you own an upgraded version.
That’s not what I ment, but nevermind, its probably my silliest joke ever on this forum. 😅If you purchased the Xbox Deluxe Edition, but your game shows as the base version (!) Another thing to note about multiclass races is that in the advanced options of the race creator, you can manually change the starting delay of each class to cause even more fun chaos... I mean, race balance. Yeah. That's it. Balance. Also something really fun about the game (and especially using the race creator) are the multi class races. I needed to grind some km’s in my Elise Cup R to unlock the next Track Day event and figured it would be cool to put it in a multi class race with other cup cars. And so we did:

I wasn’t sure how they would all balance out, I figured the Ferrari’s were the fastest and start last, and then probably the Clio’s or MX-5’s be the slowest and start first. With the Ginetta’s and my own Elise Cup R class somewhere in the middle.
Below is a screenshot from early during the race, what’s really neat is on the hud you can see also the distance to the cars ahead of you and after you which are in different car classes. In this case, the pack of Clio’s is about 6 seconds ahead of me (you can also see them on the mini map) and the pack of Ferrari’s is 22 seconds behind me. I guess that also means the Ginetta’s started before the Clio’s, so I guess they are slower than the Clio’s after all.

Now I would have figured the Ferrari’s would just get stuck in traffic and barely pass a few cars, but ooh boy I was wrong! Look at the scoreboard:

As you can see, there were 4 Ferrari’s in the game (they started places 19 to 22) but they all finished in the top 11. That means they did manage to overtake cars pretty decent. This was on the Zhujiang GP circuit which has 2 decent long straights but also a long section of corners into corners. I was really impressed how well the AI cars ended up mixed by the end of the race.
Also if you look at the first and last place of each car :
Ginetta : 2nd & 17th
Ferrari : 6th & 11th
Clio : 7th & 19th
MX-5 : 4th & 22nd
Elise : 9th & 20th (excluding myself)
That’s one pretty awesome spread of finish positions of 5 car types that have different performances.
Really looking forward to go way deeper into this multi class system. If you take a circuit with some long straights to help with overtakes (Sepang GP Circuit comes to mind) and set the number of laps a lot higher (10 or more) I wonder how it will end up then.
Also I now picked 5 cup cars (AKA race cars made for single-make races) but you can handpick any 5 cars you want. Now the downside seems to be that there can only be 5 different cars on the grid. For example you can’t do a multiclass race with GT Class 3 & 4 and have the full arsenal of those classes available. There are 3 GT Class 3 cars in the game and 6 GT Class 4, you’ll have to pick aforehand from those 9 cars which 5 ones you select. Still for a race of different cup cars like I did or perhaps single-brand races (all Mazda’s for example) it’s a nice feature.
I was struggling with it for a bit until I figured out that you're not supposed to actually touch the brake or handbrake to initiate a drift; you just let off the throttle for a bit and steer in until the car "bites", then get back on the gas and use the steering to keep from scrubbing too much speed off. After that it's mostly just figuring out exactly where in the corner you need to start and making sure you don't carry too much speed going in.I really try to avoid drifting in games on a controller, I need to practice to get anywhere near 400,000!! and not sure how I will win that one.
Overall it's Suzuka, just because I have so much experience with it that just about anything I run there is a good time. The short city courses are lot of fun with lower powered cars though, Wabash Run in Chicago in particular as it's quite wide for a street track and cars like the MX-5 can be chucked around 90 degree corners with reckless abandon. What is your favourite track so far? and time of day?
@breyzipp I fully agree with the sound. I am on PS4 and I can barely hear the actors (using headphones). First thought there was something wrong with my ears. Had few stuttering issues during the cutscenes and for the rest nothing major. I do hope they add another difficulty level for the AI.
After trying to race with the music for 5 races, I switched it off. Just not my cup of tea.
Excellent, I haven't played the Chicago one much or many races in the snow and will give them a try. I always press the brake or handbrake for drifts so will try them on the accelerator.Overall it's Suzuka, just because I have so much experience with it that just about anything I run there is a good time. And it goes without saying that doing night races at tracks where you normally wouldn't see a night race is always fun, though adding snow into that just makes it a special kind of terrifying (but I'm from up north so driving in snowstorms at night is something I deal with in real life, your mileage may vary).
