@PJTierney on PS4 I have been having multiple "hangs" of the game when loading a race in semi-pro. The game doesn't respond anymore or crashes to dashboard. Very noticable in trackday and GT class in the second half of the list. The last GT race doesn't even load. Screen stays black.
Oh dear.

Definitely post that on EA Answers (or reach out to EAHelp on Twitter) with as much info as you can.

Tried the races again this morning and all fine. Maybe it is due to the info being send to the EA/Racenet servers. Was able to get in every single race that failed yesterday evening.

Edit 2: not a single crash this afternoon. Issues must be linked with the online services

After playing the Trial I need to admit that the game is quite a refreshing breeze on Xbox now during slight boredom period that Forza Horizon 5 is in (in my opinion). Also playing the Trial reminded me that I've never really dip in Grid 2019 career so decided to come back and wait for Legends to be on sale - as fresh as it is I can't really justify paying full price now 🤷🏼

Once again I found myself with issues entering some races. I unplugged the network cable and all was fine. I think I'll leave it unplugged. Races load faster and I get in every single one of them :) Maybe something to check with your team.

One other thing that is worthy of praise is how lean this game is. A 32.2 GB installation in this era of 100 GB behemoths. And you go from the booting screen to a race under a minute in an Xbox Series console (and under 1:30 in a One X). No fluff, no distractions, no unskippable videos, just the RACING.

Yes, really enjoying the game as well. It is a good game to just play for an hour after a day of Work. I have put quite some hours in to the careermode and I have not even unlocked the last 2 Tiers of events. There is a lot of content on offer.

I'm happy to report that the spatial sound option is now enabled (Microsoft Sonic, Dolby Atmos, etc.) and works as advertised. On headphones, the default mix is rather flat but with spatial sound now you get effects like reverberation in the tunnels and crisp localized sounds (engines, tires, curbs, crowds, fireworks, etc.). It is not loud, however, even with the master volume at 10.

I will test the sound on a soundbar later.

Note: I have played about 34 hours since launch. I finished the story events and I'm still doing the rookie-level events! I do make the race length 2X though (highly recommended!)

No change to engine sounds (still way too low IMO) and buttons on G920 not yet fixed.

Let me know when the next patch drops.

I don't have a site to upload the video for the moment but I posted this on twitter. My favourite car/combo. I am really enjoying the races, the sound seems better in cockpit for me (not sure if it was my end) also I am not sure after playing GT7 but has the Ai had a tweak as I really had to push to get anywhere near the front on 'Hard' :scared:

Finished the story mode, loved it to be honest, agree with torque99 in car cockpit view sound is the best, but wish it was louder still, some cockpit views are better than others, maybe seat adjustment in a future update?.looking forward to getting deeper into career mode, great that you can try before you buy for the cars, maybe some other new releases might try that idea 👀

i am so much more impressed than i thought i would be. really enjoying the myself. just wish the multiplayer wasn't such a kamikazee wreckfest.

3 more Achievements and I’ll have 100% game completion :)

Currently about halfway through Pro Career, where I need to complete all events to unlock The Gauntlet.

About 55 hours playtime at the moment on Xbox. Done most races on Legend difficulty.

It’s to be expected really, more casual playstyle, no penalty system, plus AI that (sometimes) bite back if you hit them. This isn’t GT Sport that’s for sure 😄

If you can get a private group of friends together you’ll have some decent action though, I remember being in a really good touring car league in the last game.

you are right of course :)

I watched all the cutscenes for the game story as I don't have a console to play it and was expecting a so bad it's good story from the trailers.

...and oh boy they delivered, how hard they tried to villainise Ravenwest and Nathan McKane is hilarious and was laughing at nearly every moment. Ironically one of the best stories. Though in terms of genuine quality, the other characters seem likeable enough.

One thing to note in the story, is that actually Ryan McKane from TOCA Race Driver 1? I find it really hard to believe the man who had overcome his father dying from reckless and dangerous stunt from a bitter, malicious driver. Would be endorsing the same thing from his Nephew after all these years . Even if Ryan was always a ****

EDIT: Seeing the end credits, making the continuity with TOCA Race Driver 1 almost certain. When are we gonna get Kat, Ceaser, Stellan and Five-0 from TOCA Race Driver 2?

I am pretty annoyed it has gone on sale (XBox) already. Paying £16 more for 3 weeks use is a rip off. It is the last time I will pay full price for a CM game at launch. They should have waited at least 3 months.

So, some things I've noted recently, including some things I hope'll get changed over time:

  • The Capri Group 5 desperately needs a buff to its straight-line speed. While its handling is absolutely amazing, it's lack of acceleration cannot make up for it. It's legitimately dangerous to take that car on non-corner heavy tracks, it's so slow.
  • The first race in the Skyline Time Attack Finale is hilarious. It's set on one of the Yokohama layouts (which also has a couple small dirt sections), however the AI seems to have a particularly hard time avoiding the various corner obstacles on the track like the parked trailers and some of the lamp posts. Combine that with the games attrition system for opponents, and a x2 race length (which makes it a 12-lap race), and you're going to be spending a lot of time weaving around both lapped traffic and wrecked cars, which is surprisingly enjoyable.
  • The sponsor event that unlocks the Porsche 935 is a true test of concentration and patience. The car likes to swing its butt out quite both often and with major violence, and it's on Okutama GP, which has a lot of elevation changes and undulating curves that go up and down quite often, meaning that you're basically on a rollercoaster with a very power-heavy car that is slow to respond from changes in its suspension travel and steering input. Do not be ashamed to put the race length at X1 and Assists at the max, as that was the only way I could complete the event.
  • With that, I do feel like the 935 does need a slight buff in its handling. I get that its character is to have poor handling, coupled with immense straight-line speed, but the handling is so poor that, much like the Capri, it's not a practical choice on a lot of tracks. I'm also a bit biased since the 935 is one of my favorite classic race cars.
  • The Nemesis system needs a bit of a tweak imo. It seems that once I've made a Nemesis with the AI, they're pretty much stuck as my Nemesis permanently, even if I manage to stay away from them and not get into any contact with them for multiple races. Sometimes my very presence near them will re-activate their nemesis status. This issue is further exacerbated by the game putting me at the back of the pack for championship races, and the AI's tendency to basically block the entire road and slow to a crawl during the first couple corners of each race, creating a lot of moments of unintentional contact. I think your Nemesis status should expire much more quickly, and I still maintain that Hot Lap Qualifying and/or random grid starts for races need to come back.
  • There really should be more Stadium Truck races with more track layouts, as well as a Championship in the Pro League. Honestly, a few discipline-specific multi-class races in the Pro League would also be kinda neat (i.e. Pro Muscle vs. Time Attack as an event type in the Pro-League Tuner Discipline).
  • The ability to "rent" cars you don't own is a wonderful addition, and really helps with the accessibility of the game, while also giving players the ability to "test drive" new cars.
  • If the vehicle tuning section is gonna get any love, I'd like to suggest having an Aero Tuning option. Driving the Renault R26, I felt like the car was a little too understeery, and had a too much of a tendency to powerslide compared to the AI which seemed to have perfect grip at all time. I really felt like it would be a much more enjoyable experience if I was able to give the car more downforce.
  • Racing in the snow on an oval in stock cars is one of the most enjoyably sketchy experiences I've ever had.
I know this post is mostly complaints, but I'm still very much having a great time with Legends. I'm honestly putting a bit more time into this game than I expected to, even when taking some small breaks here-and-there.

This is exactly why I thought that I shouldn't be tempted by preordering or buying this immediately 😎

That event was so tough; I think I spent an hour trying to beat it (Legend, No Assists).

You are a significantly better driver than me, then. I love the car to bits, but it's pretty much the only car in the game where I feel compelled to at least put Stability Control on max power whenever I jump in it, especially on undulating tracks like Okutama.

AI awareness!

People I wanted to share this Xbox network video with you that shows how great (at least compared with other games) the AI can be. Scenario: Paris race in the rain at night. Notice how the Alfa Giulia and the car two positions in front go for the gap after noticing the pile up in front, while defending my advances! (And the Porsche brakes and gets stuck.)
