GT 6 pre-orders very low

So you're telling me an entirely different physics engine, lighting engine, and rendering engine could be added to GT5 through downloadable content? Wow, great logic you've got there buddy.

The GT6 replays look exactly like GT5 on HDR-crack, it's very easy to see it's the same game at it's core with some added polish, the tracks look virtually the same, not much in the way of detail, draw distance or atmosphere, some people probably liked GT5 so much they would buy it again rebranded as GT6, i'm not one of those people.

Pre-orders are a fairly reliable (though by no means concrete) measurement of sure-thing purchases. Sales numbers do affect a game's support from Sony - look at how All-Stars Battle Royale's team was disbanded after that title's lukewarm reception - but as this is GT we're talking about, even if GT6 sells noticeably less than previous games in the series, it'll be a high seller for the system itself. It's unlikely Sony would yank support for it unless they stop receiving a return on their investment.

A high seller of PS3 systems?! In a few weeks the PS4 will be current gen and the PS3 will be rightfully forgotten, GT7 could certainly move PS4 systems, but in reality the PS4 is doing much better than even the most optimistic would have anticipated, this could be bad news for PD if Sony realizes that they don't really need GT anymore as GT6 is panning out as a disappointment and PS4s are selling out faster than they can be produced already.

Woops, didn't mean it quite like that - meant that GT6 will be a high seller for PS3, not that it'll necessarily move a lot of hardware. I can't see that happening too much. "Rightfully forgotten" is a bit strong, no? If history's anything to go by, the PS3 will sell well for a while yet, much as the PS2 and PS1 did before it when they were still on the market with their newer successors.

How can you see GT6 as a same ga

PD supported GT5 more than any other game I've seen, even if they released the game early it's Sony's fault. I can see them supporting GT6 the same way they did with 5. If you see GT6 as the same game don't even think about spending 60$ on a game

Lol with over 80 million PS3 sold I don't think this console will not be forgotten.

So what you're saying is you think this console will be forgotten or was that a grammatical error on your part?
Or a really unlucky attempt of a using a double negative.

(In my eyes the principle of double negatives is nonsense anyway, but that's just me.)

It could have been sarcasm or I could be implying that, why would the PS3 be forgotten if it has a huge fan base? Its like asking a person why do they still play N64. It may not be the latest and greatest but it still has fun games on it, same goes for PS3.

Just look at GTA V over 15 million copies sold and it won't be released for PC until spring of next year so many I mean many will still be playing current gen.

Expect preorder numbers to explode.

Why? Just because a lot of info was released that was already known? Because pd released a trailer video for gt6? Because pd released video showing some stars moving on the night sky? Because we get to see some screenshots that don't show anything we already did not know? That's all what it takes to make the gt6 preorder numbers "explode"...?

Despite poor sounds, poor AI, and perhaps even graphics performance that is a step backward from GT5 in some respects based on analysis by Digital Foundry, GT6 will do well in all likelihood due to an extremely dedicated and loyal fan base.

Just because pre-orders are low doesn't mean much for GT. Where i live there's never been a midnight for any GT. When i went to pick up GT5 at walmart at midnight when it came out. There were only 3 other people waiting lol. GT is a game you're happy to wait for and just go pick up the next day after it comes out. There's no point in pre-ordering.. Well other than that 1,000,000 credits lol.

I already pre ordered back in may of this year because gamestop offering the 15th anniversary upgrade for no charge. The series is meant to have fun with the game, not take it literal and call it a failure when the game isn't even out yet LOL

Waste of a thread where there is no supporting evidence of this. If after today the pre orders don't rise dramatically then there is something wrong. PD seem to be well back on course. Still work to be done but there is major improvements shown already

Did digital foundry do an analysis of the finished product?

Good question, in all the updates today it said 3D support was coming later. So I'm curious about DF findings on anything... As they did praise PDs implementation of 3D in GT 5...

Yes. I sent the links to some guys that play GT at my place once in a while and they think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread now. Remember, the majority of fans are very casual players, unfamiliar with the issues we often talk about here. One or two spectacular trailers is all it takes to hook many of them. Some nice looking cars, some new tracks, the day/night stuff and dare I say it, the moon vehicle. Sounds silly to me, I'll drive it once or twice probably like most of the novelty vehicles in GT5, but it makes for great marketing.

And since we know that it still isn't (for starters, regardless of if GT6 replays look "like GT5 on HDR-crack", we know the rendering engine is completely different than GT5's) despite the appearances, and have known that virtually since it was announced, I'm curious how what you're saying constitutes proof that what is in GT6 could have been patched in?

It was a rhetorical question. I know the answer and it's no. So until Digital Foundry gets their hands on the final code their analysis doesn't mean much when comparing GT6 performance to 5.

Please explain how 6 is panning out as a disappointment?

Damn, when did you get your GT6?! You got some hot videos of the poor sounds, AI and graphic performance, right?

Looking at the pre-order charts, gt6 is scary low. Sony will end up regretting putting this on PS3, people wanted to see a marked improvement from GT5, but simply are not seeing it with gt5. Sony would have been better off letting PD take 1-2 years and really put out a killer next gen racer. instead, people are just seeing it as what it is, what GT5 should have been, which is not good enough.

Sales of G6 will be by far the lowest in the series history. What was sony and PD thinking? They cannot do anymore with the PS3.

Because day 1 sales are the only thing that matters?

Are we, the players, caring even more about this than companies now? The day 1 sale phenomenon has killed quite a lot of games and developers...

Explanations for the low preorders:
- Comparing to GT5 isn't really fair, given the situation - A much shorter time between games.
- People are holding off as GT5 wasn't the game they were promised.
- People are waiting for a PS4 version.
- It's got more competition.
- Might be that people are waiting for a collector's edition.

Expectation:
- GT6 will sell less than GT5, though still more than most would expect. In the long term it may be one of the games keeping PS3 sales alive.
- It seems to be much better out of the box than GT5 was. I'd expect sales to soar around/after christmas when the reviews come in and word of mouth spreads, as people will have more stuff to compare it to (driveclub, forza 5).
- It's still a GT game, so it will sell regardless.

People wait for info before they pre-order.
Simple, but great answer.

I personally am still undecided if I should preorder the anniversary edition (to a damn high price...) or better wait for a possible collectors edition.

I'll simply wait until a few days before release.

I have pre-ordered - but that can always be cancelled - no doubt a review will come out before Dec 6th anyway.

I've been a huge GT fan from the start, but there have been many factors for why I didn't pre-order. Some of which were: car-lists, features, improvements over previous title, different editions to be released, etc. I would say that a lot of people are just approaching GT6 with caution. Not that its being released on the PS3 so much, which I think is a good call market wise, but because there were so many issues we ran into with GT5 that we want to be certain of the details before purchase. I'm planning to preorder within the next week, so long as they don't announce another "limited edition".
