Yeah that Toyota… that went well… or not really. Half the horsepowers of those Group C bastards and whatever aero tricks. Was fun though until I literally couldn’t keep my eyes open. To think I go to bed before you old farts do. 🙄

Speaking of Group C bastages, if you have the Mazda 787B, detune that bastage and take it to the Spa 1 hour race. Be sure you have wet tires available cause you will need them. Watch the weather radar - it usually starts raining shortly after it gets dark. 1,500,000 credits (with CRB) in an hour.

Hi Geezers, because our good friend Luiz needs to be at his hacienda this weekend I have volunteered to take over as Guest Host tomorrow morning, same time as usual. ***NOTE - Changes I will be making from Luiz' formats are in 'bold' size 18 font.

Note: If you have set in your car Wide Body or light weight, the game will not allow you into the track. **** I will be making a slight change to this rule. We'll open tuning so WIDE body and modified hotrods can join IF someone wants to call out for a race in one of the above mentioned PP category's. Just this Saturday racing,, when Luiz takes the reigns back next weekend we'll return to his formats. I will be modifying and driving the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series.

Race and Track conditions:
Weather: Sunny and Clear Day (we will try a few different formats but no rain for now)
Laps: 5 to 12 depending on track length
Grid: Standing or Rolling (HSR and Daytona) starts

This is the wireless headset
I'll vouch for the quality of this product. It was an item I received for review, although what I had was the newest version, the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen2 MAX headset which has longer batter life. Very nice piece and at $129 MSRP, I think it's a good value. Much better than the PlayStation branded headset that was released as an accessory to the PS5. I did give it to a friend because a couple days ago I received a Razer Kaira Pro headset to review.

FWIW - I started out with the TB Stealth 700 Gen2 when I got my PS5 because my Stealth 500 (which I loved) was no longer compatible with the PS5. The 500 used a USB with an output to an optical port on the PS4 that gave complete control over the game volume vs chat volume while racing (there were 2 volume controls). The headset was very comfortable and battery life was well over 12 hours even after a few years of use. The Stealth 700 was very uncomfortable (I wear glasses) and was painful to use after a half hour. Battery life and sound was great. I did return it for an Arctis 7P wireless. Battery life of over 25 hours and is very comfortable.

This coming Sunday (8th) after our Geezer racing, for those that are interested, we are going to trial a 30 minute race. This will involve 10/15 minute practise, 10/15 min quali (after room reloaded) and then the race. So about an hour in total. If all goes well we can make this a regular event.

The events will be one make racing with tyre wear and fuel usage in play. There will be 2 different grades of tyre and everyone must use both during the course of the race.

Because of our limitations with the lobbies and until we can find a workaround, for the moment, BOP will be on and tuning prohibited.

This trial is basically to gauge interest and to test the idea to see if it can give us some enjoyable racing.

Sunday 8TH May 10:30 ET, 15:30 UK. Lobby Name GRC

We will race the GR3 Subaru BRZ GT300 21 @ Trial mountain for 16 laps. The tyre multiplier is x9 and the fuel is x6. We start with a full tank. Tyres for the race are RS and RM. Both sets of tyres must be used for the race, qualification tyre is open choice.

Other Lobby Settings: Preset Weather, S01 Dry Cloudless and Pleasant, Afternoon
Grid Start
Slipstream Strong
Shortcut Penalty Weak
Pit Lane Cutting Penalty On
Flag Rules On

Moving forward

If this is successful and you guys want to continue having these races my idea is to have the track and car announced at the beginning of the week along with the tyre and fuel multipliers. This will allow for practise and to buy the car if not already owned. (Practise and finding a strategy may be better to do online in case of there being different ‘conditions’ offline??)

It would also be good if we all have a chance to choose a car/track combination for the following week, including the fuel and tyre multiplier numbers. This would involve some testing by the person who is choosing so may not suit everyone. Ideally find some numbers that will mix it up a bit.

Car choice. For now this will be one make from GR3/4 only. Main reasons are most drive ok without the need for tuning and they are affordable.

Track choice. We are all going to have different tracks we like or we loathe and some tracks are better for racing than others. Some too narrow, some too short, some too long, some just a pain in the arse. I have chosen a selection of tracks to choose from that I think, in the main, we all find enjoyable based on our racing history. I have put the number of laps we will do next to each track.

These are not (nor anything else) set in stone and input from anyone is greatly welcome. Maybe we could have 8 races over 8 weeks then add or remove selections etc etc. for Season 2.

Any thoughts from you guys would be good. We all know the lobbies are crap at the moment and the lack of boost etc has taken away some of the fun we used to have. If anyone can come up with other ideas, great. We have what we have and we should try to make it work for us albeit with a different format. We are here for the friendship and the banter of the Geezer club, we are also here for the racing. Thoughts on a postcard!

I really enjoyed racing with you guys last week. Look forward to doing it again.
Somebody asked me what headset I had and I really couldn't remember at the time. It is
a Fnatic React

I got it to replace a Razer that was at the same price point and the Fnatic is much better quality.

Well done Steve! Whether or not I can hang in there will only be discovered in some practice then joining in the race. I do know that IF my tired old eyes just can't manage it I cn drop out and hang out to the finish. As you said, the hanging out with online racing buddys is what we enjoy,, the racing is what we do because we're like minded old guys who enjoy the GranTurismo series of sim racing games and we'll hang in there trusting that one day they will 'FIX' GT7 back to as good as or even better than it was in Sport. They know how to do it,, cannot understand why they tossed all they have learned over these last few years. Ohh well,, I will continue playing the game because I like it and I want to. :)

If you haven’t done the Autopolis Kei Car 1 hour mission yet, go get the Suzuki Cappuccino ‘91 from the Used Car Dealer, then throw Praiano’s tune on it. Yes, it looks ridiculous with the maxed out ride height, but it is also ridiculously fast (for a 400 pp Kei Car). Lapped everyone at least once.

Thanks for the tip Eric. 👍 Edit: Only managed 3rd. Not used to manual (on DS4) & no tach in hood view, but I'm satisfied with that.
