Does the earthquake damage the server more than we thought considering how long this has been down? I dont remember Sport being like this with the maintenance

Whole world can't play. Servers are located in datacenters around the world, not just in Japan.
Looks like PD messed up big time while patching the servers to 1.07.

Tried jumping on at 10 a.m for a quick go...not possible.

Still, it's a beautifully mild March afternoon here in southern England so I'm outside, catching up on some home maintenance, walking the dog.

Its the same for everyone mate, servers are down. I’ve also been waiting 6+ hours to play a single player campaign mode that needs an online connection

They need to fix the bug, test the update, and push out the update. These things take time. The bug wasn't caught until right around the time maintenance was supposed to end, so it's going to be a while.

I agree, but removing online requirement from the game would probably require more than 6 hours. It shouldn't be there at all for the "career" mode. But in the long term it's an absolute must, if for nothing else game preservation. Of course who would want to preserve this atrocity at this point.

Trying not to overreact, because I was generally enjoying GT7, but this just feels like an awful day for this game.
Really got me thinking what it is I actually want from a GT game.. and why I shouldn’t just boot up GT2 or 4 to get it. All this microtransactions stuff, not being able to play because of patches and maintenance.. it’s absolutely dog ****.

I played GT Sport most of the afternoon as GT7 was down...it ran fine...and I did think it was more fluid than GT7....just a carnage fest at Nurburgring ....no rubbing ...just block passing and shunting though.

Wow, got back home thinking for sure the servers would be up now, then I remembered PD are based in Japan.
Original maintenance end: 8:00am GMT (5:00pm Japan)
Considering it's 3:30am in Japan now, I imagine they've not even started fixing the bug unless they're paying their guys overtime to work into the night, which I doubt.
Best case scenario then, they get back into work in about 5 hours, spend all day fixing/testing and aim to push the update by the end of their workday again.
This means we likely won't be online until tomorrow morning, 8:00am in the UK, at best.
At least I can have a day off right?

I don't wanna tell you how to spend your money, but please don't tell me you bought a PS5 purely for one game. 😢
The PS4 version is almost identical, minor graphical difference that a lot of people probably wouldn't notice.
I bought a PS4 for it which was a stretch for me, because I know damn well that I'm not gonna buy any more games for that console, but £180 is better than £550-600.
Wrong! After patch is made they MUST test it, and when they are sure that everything is fine push it out.
The truth is that this game was born badly and is getting worse and worse. Big disappointment mate.

If you go to PC World ie and ask to be put on their list you get delivery after 6 days...thats how i got mines.
