GT 7 Servers are still down...

I know people are joking, and thats good to have a laugh while we wait :-)

But personnaly I wouldent even want a huge price, that would kinda ruin the experience for those of us to want to play the game and earn credits to buy cars as we progress.
I didn't buy the anniversary edition exactly because I didn't want the extra credits to upset progression. Little did I know, that they broke it themselves already. There is no need to give out 20 mil credits, just flip the switch on car sales. Boom problem mostly gone instantly.

When will this endurance maintenance over? It's been 27 hours, 25 hours more than the schedule. My friend and I are going to make a bet on it, if it's not done within 30 hours. He'll bring the number of hours and I get to choose above or below.

Yup, same reason i didn't preorder cos i wanted that gt2 feeling to start with 1 used car and progress up, the gift cars ruined that too.

Looks like they have also lost all of our data, does that mean we will all have to start again from the beginning again ?

Stu

The grammar and punctuation are clear signs it's fake, even before looking at the name. Sorry. I'm late to the party.
At least I can play F1 2021 😂

So on this note, where are the guarantees the GT7 servers will be available in the coming years? What I mean is, the game essentially depends on the servers working for the single player / career mode to even be playable, right? So when Sony decides to scrap the server (whether that be 5, 8 or even 10 years from now), your game basically becomes worthless? Where as you can pop your GT3 a-spec disc in your ps2 with your memory card, and it'll be like not a day has passed. Sad times for gaming indeed.

Realistically, even if something went wrong they should probably have been able to roll back by now. Engineers have backup plans for "normal" stuff going wrong. The length of this indicates that it's probably something fairly severe. Maybe it's fixable, but the longer it goes on the higher the likelihood that there are significant consequences.

The game has been out a couple of weeks. Polyphony and Sony will be ******** bricks having an entire day of unexpected downtime in a new game.

The online situation, which is not unprecedented, is the icing on the cake of this lengthy and sterile management by Yamauchi. In my opinion, if it is true that Sony is acquiring new studios, Hulst should look kindly on Kunos Simulazioni and re-employ Evolution Studios to form an important subsidiary of Poliphony in Europe, leaving Kaz only to manage the business e GT World. Technically, the feeling is that Yamauchi and Poliphony stopped in time!

This is fake.

Doesen't save files exist on console too ?
They definitely do, as mine has had a supposed mismatch when I went to play earlier this week - I had to choose which one to load - weirdly they were both the same date. time and size.. so I'm not sure what mismatch that was. Selected the online save and didn't notice anything amiss.

Nice troll, but in reality, I think they'd not give a 2 star roulette ticket, they'd just "re-adjust" race payouts and say "pray we don't adjust them further"

hope the save games have not been affected as I was in the middle of going for the platinum trophy. Also, don't think I could bare going through that campaign again, it definitely isn't one of the games strength's. Not only was it way shorter than I expected, they just throw cars at you like it's nothing. Really wanted the feeling of earning them rather than been given the Forza experience. Don't get me wrong I love Forza but I thought we were getting something similar to GT3.

They could be the in the process of rolling back, at my place of work we can typically roll back to about 36hrs prior, but it takes a long time to do so. We can't roll back to a shorter time frame because it takes well over 24hrs to back up the servers due to the volume of data on them. It might be a similar situation going on here.

It's not a good look for a new flagship game that's also garnering criticism for the way it's handing and pushing microtransactions. Glad I'm sitting out of this one for now, it might be worth buying when it's less of a car crash.

on the plus side, I got so sick of not being able to sell cars, and the downed servers that I bought GT Sport! I'm new to GT (GT7 is my first), and I think I might actually like sport a little better. The cars a feel more forgiving IMO.

This is my hunch too
I think they went to reboot and test and realised they broke it and now they are either recovering from backups and it's taking that long because they need to do bare metal restores and their recovery hasn't been tested properly for performance, or they are trying to fix the issue and then bring it online. Either way is an incompetent move on a always online game 2 weeks after launch.
Basic change management in IT is you have a rollback plan that is tested, this is just lazy incompetence.

I paid the game completely and I can't use it for more than 24h now due to PD's fault - right? That is a violation of treat and cries for a compensation. The good thing about microtransactions is you can now monetize the damage that is braught to you by leaving the servers down and therefore preventing the players from using what they paid for. I am no alien, so I won't use the Gtplanets 'meta' for calculations. I would have run the 650LP Porsche Cup or the 700LP Blackforrest League on Nordschleife as I did since these races are availlable to me. With my poor skills I need 8mins to run the Nordschleife on both events, so in 24h or 1440 mins I could have made these races 180 times. Let's say I did half Porsche Cup and half Blackforrest League, I would have won 90 times 35.000Cr and 90 times 40.000Cr. Making a total of 6.750.000Cr (not included the clean racing bonus I get for 4 out of 5 races!). Taking the actual microtransaction prize that Kaz wants us to spend our money on, these in game Credits should be worth 3 times 19,90€ plus another 9,90€.
Better make your servers run again fast KAZ, you already owe me 69,60€. That would not be a problem if I was able to play the single player carreer offline as long as you me.s.s around with your servers. But you made the game unnescessarily need to be connected to your servers for playing single player, so you then should make sure that this connection is always available by your side or pay me a compensation for the down times!
