Just a question, i belive Maz knows it cause i think he is working or in touch with the gt academy organisation.

I am finishing my driving license still have a few driving lessons and the final exam to have the drive license, i belive i can have it in about 1month, between 17 april and 25april, do you guys think they will let me go to the next stage if i have it in that time or will i be kicked out of the competition??
PS:embarrassed:f course this only aplys IF i can keep improving and entering top 20

Aussie fast drivers not getting a go at this. I'm not one of them, lucky to get top 200 but Australia have some guys who whould top the table, we seem to be the only country not getting a go. Sorry for the whinge not expecting any sympathy from those who are in it cos they probably been thrashed by an Aussie at some stage and wouldn’t want the extra positions taken from them lol.

For last years competition, you had to have a full license on the day the National Final took place... howver, in reality you need it a week or 2 before the final as the organisers are unlikely to give you a place on the chance you pass your test.

Well first run of the day got me into .263, still losing half a second on the last last sector.

Since Sunday I have had to put my dfgt back in the cupboard so I can get some college work done :(
If I fall out of top 20 I may do a few more laps. Anybody got any guess's on what will be a qualifying time? I'm thinking the top 20 will be within .5 of the leader.

Whao! Great time dude, what sensitivity are you driving with?

Im also losing alot of time on the last section, on my 17.416 lap i thought i was heading for a 17.0 or 17.1. Its so hard to nail that last section

Cheers, Im on sensitivity 7 although I could do with 8 or 9 If they ever introduce it. As for qualifying I would say 17.5 and your safe. As it will be down to about 25th I feel. (My driving test is this week, and a contingency test if I fail early April, so im not eligible yet and its also confirmed quite a few ineligible in the top 20).

Once I hit sub 17 I'm switching to my wheel though so hopefully that will be today or some time this week :). I started following TurismoGTI's ghost yesterday to nail last sector im slowly getting there with that, but its a bit annoying when you see his ghost behind you coming to the corkscrew :P, made me a little giddy and messed up lol.

Good luck with the test Tidgney and great time. Keep chipping away and I'm sure your sub 17 will come.

I think a 17.2 or below should be enough to qualify. Who in the top 20 or just outside are not eligible?

Cheers :), I know moose is ineligible (And me atm :P) but I was just quoting from a week ago perhaps where I think Maz had said there were 5 ineligibles he knew about in the top 20. Some might have dropped out, but I'm not 100% on who is and isn't.

If it's anything like how the UK model will function, as long as you have your full licence on the day the time trial finishes and the organisers start contacting people, you will be fine.

However if your test date is after the time trial deadline, as Stotty has said, if the organisers contact you and ask you about your driving licence and your answer is "My test is in a week" they probably will not accept you. I believe the same thing happened to GTP_DustDriver last year.

All the best
Maz

Well just knocked of another tenth today thats 2 tenths already with still my sub 17 still to come down to 17.119 now on a pad! :). My first 2 sectors were no where near my best, but the last sector was picture perfect!

Nice to know that Maz should have my licence for then! Unless I get done by my examiner again (Twice) :/

I know I'm a long way off you guys, but I managed to get down to 2:22.956

I've achieved my short-term target of getting inside the top 1000. Can still see more time, so roll on 2:21:xxx, and hopefully a slot inside the top 800 or so.

The right hander after the corkscrew complex is a right pain. I'm really struggling with that one, and could certainly make a lot of time up there.

I just never know when to brake for that one, or when it's safe to get on the power again. The car wants to push so wide on that corner.

Steve

Moose - definatly cant
KronicGT ?
EBK ?

So thats 23rd a guarantee? relying on everybody else is able to make it and is eligable (quite unlikely), but expect i-plume to come through maybe?

Itching to have a go, i might... lol

Good work Tidgney....

this is hard.
I'm pretty amazed at everyone who is under 1.20
I thought I was quite fast LOL!
now i just feel like a retard chasing a ghost of 1.22.08!

need a break now. well done everyone who has these fast times by the way. amazing times.

Hello, Planet GT drivers! considering that your team is one of the most important team of Gran Turismo over the world and in the various editions of GT Academy, I have prepared this HTML widget filtering your drivers.

http://creator.zoho.com/turbodeif/gran-turismo/view-perma/HTML_GTAcademy?edicion=2011&equipo=GTP

It also can filter the drivers of two other major English teams: GTLeague and GTDrivers by changing the url string query parameter equipo

It is updated every 30 minutes. Hope you like it.

(Works fine in Firefox, Chrome and Safari. Not in IE...)

Thats awesome dude, how did you go about doing this?
Im studying software

Wish I had GTP in my PSN, or if GT supported Tags

Well after getting 1:19.9 using the pad (with directional buttons) I've finally (after my entire gt career!) switched to using the stick instead with R2/L2 for throttle/brake and WOW what a diference it makes!

I struggle with that one too. Best thing to do IMO is to try and get yourself a system to follow. What I am currently doing is come sharply off throttle at braking marker (choose your own) then turn in on full lock then a small dab of brake hen back on balanced throttle until exit and then it's full power. This isn't best technique I am sure but I try to be consistent until I find something better. This way you can tune bits in or out of technique depending on what is helping and what isn't.

and within an hour of using the stick instead of directional buttons i've trimmed over 4 tenths off my time

now sitting on a 1:19.5 (ranked 181 in region - uk)

You are 13 thousandths behind me so don't get any faster :-)

I had a really bad lesson today. My observations of hazards around me is really quite bad. I remember in December that my instructor was telling me if all things go normal, I should have my test around March... well that's not gonna happen. Looks like I will be ineligible for the next round if I make the top 20. Improved almost 4tenths earlier today to post a 2:18.191.

The beginning of sector 3 is killing my time, in-fact all of sector 3 is killing my time. I have been .4 up on my best of 2:18.6 and lose it all in the last sector

Is there any way of telling how many people have attempted round 1 of GT academy in eu so far?

I did a 3:40 lap with another account and it placed 8500th in UK/IRE
So, Im guessing there has been about 50,000 people tried it in Europe.
Probably about 9 or 10 thousand in UK/IRE

If you can get in top 500 in europe you are doing pretty well thats the top 1%
