I'm guessing there were some disqualifications and some problems with meeting the rules or something. My list has someone in 26th and 29th going so I'm guessing there were quite a few who weren't eligible. If you know you aren't qualified why compete. Some people would do anything for this oppertunity. Would love to hear the official story as I have a hunch about one of the contestants.

not true at all. the whole setup this year was a huge curve ball for everyone. it really threw everyone off and luck had a lot to do with it as well. some adapted better than others. some had better luck. thats about what it came down to. others just did their normal thing and killed it like usual!

all in all, an insane two days. never had experienced anything like that, ever.

I just wanted to congratulate everyone that made it to Silverstone, you raced your butts off and deserve every bit of it.

I also want to apologize to everyone for the way I was. I complained a lot about what happened to me, and that was wrong. It was just ignorant, and by no means was I trying to get more attention or people to feel sorry for me. What happened was my problem, and it should have stayed that way.

Finally, I want to give special congrats to Jett Racer, Sohnvonstig and Veloci2NR. You guys were just great, and I'll definitely be pulling for you while you're in Silverstone.

Have fun everyone, and work hard these next few weeks to prepare. Thanks for the racing, and thanks for the memories.

Was great meeting all the fellow finalists, wish i didn't have bad luck that first round. Gonna put some time in and get that t500 wheel and be down right ready for next year, that wheel is a different beast then my dfgt. Also special thanks to meeting new guys and old guys, wardez, king, reevos, stig, veloc, jett, joey and nick you guys were just awesome.and everybodyelse for that matter. All you that made it to the final 16 are gonna have a blast. Goodluck!!

Is there any possibility of getting information on the exact specs of the four rounds of racing and some timing (quali times / best lap times / etc.)? We do know the cars/tracks/tires, but were they all tuning prohibited (i.e. stock)? Anyone have records of the best laps and/or qualifying times from some of the drivers?

It would be fun to put together a mock-event replicating the setup... Of course you couldn't replicate the pressure or the fact that the actual GTA participants had no idea what was coming, but could still be a fun event to run online if we had the information. And then fun to compare times we could achieve to the competitors.

Also any information on the initial time trial used to whittle the field from 33 to 32? It was a track creator track? Any possibility for someone to get that online? Or see the timing results from that round?

What we did here was pretty close, with a few exceptions.

1. They used all GTA cars for the event. Not sure if there's any difference with the vehicle other than the logo. We did have a mixed race near the end with the Silvias and noticed they were running the same times.

2. The times on the sheet were with plenty of practice. We ended up cold Q runs + race in the final days, and immediately noticed some handled that better than others.

3. Just about everyone was using something other than a Thrustmaster. I'd be interested to know from anyone from the Academy about adjusting to it, since not everyone can buy one.

As for Academy times, I don't have something exact, but these are what I'd observed:

Tsukuba w/GTA Silvia: 1:06.3
Trial Mountain Reverse w/GTA Z34: 1:39.8
Cape Ring North Reverse w/GTA 370Z Tuned: 1:41.9
Spa w/GT-R Black Tuned: 2:23.6

The first three had sports hard. GT-R used soft tires.

TRC Scooty
Thumbs down? Epic pass was epic, talk about clutch.

It was great meeting everyone, lots of cool guys in this group and sucks to see anyone going home. Every race was absolutely brutal and for the most part a lot of fun. Such a bittersweet feeling to be in a tie breaker with my teammate :(, but such is life. Going to try and make him, the rest of my teammates and everyone that supports me proud in Silverstone!

Yeah for the passer not the passee (Wardez). :P

Thanks for all the kind words guys. Just wanted to point some thing out.

For some reason, the entire weekend I was always in my lucky color car. As some of you may know, if a car I'm going to race in a league is paintable, I'm gonna paint it Yellow.

And I had yellow cars for all three rounds! Good luck?

I'll be posting some write ups of my thoughts tomorrow after some good rest.

Thought that when I saw you in the yellow car at TMR.... Though don't depend too much on luck. I had your kart #11 and you beat me by .2 ;P

Well guys had a great time in San Diego with all of you finalists. (Well as good a time as i could have after being eliminated). Congrats to all 16 of you going to Silverstone i wish nothing but the best for all of you, it was a honor to have met you all and the entire 32 others. I met a bunch of great guys.

You can still be proud to have gotten there. I have heard very little about that first elimination. Any report on what was going on? Did you draw an early run? It was a custom track right? How much time did you have before your hot laps? Could you watch the other guys who ran after you or were results revealed at the end without having any idea?

I think i was the second or third group to go. And yes it was a custom track. You started your hot laps immediately, they did the qualifying in practice mode so it started you a few turns before start finish line. And no, nobody was aloud to watch any other competitiors compete the entire time unless you were all ready eliminated. And times basically were a guessing game besides us guys telling each other how we did when we finished. I just blew it myself last 2 hot laps was on plenty a good enough lap to get me in, just wrecked last turn and next to last turn. Believe i was on pace for some where around 1:56 last two laps but what can you do no one elses fault but my own. Everyone had to deal with same circumstances everyone else just adapted to everthing better. So congrats to them.

Tough break, man. Asking someone to run a fast lap on a course they've never seen before with an unfamiliar setup is quite difficult.

Hell of a trip guys, i just want to say it was an honor racing with some of the best out there. Good luck to every single person going to Silverstone you guys did a phenomenal job! And for the rest of us who didn't make it hold your head up high guys top 32 out of 400,000 that's a amazing accomplishment.

Finally home. That was an awesome experience to be able to race with the best of the best. Congrats to the top 16! And for the bottom 16, I'll see you next year. =)

Definetly see you there, make sure you add me on psn and you keep your head remember you are 1 person ineligible from going to silverstone so be ready bro. :)

Like King said man be ready you never know you only need one person to be ineligible for you to make it.

I'll post the combos as I recall them along with the best times I *heard of*, not confirmed since they weren't telling us fastest laps of course. But the cars were probably stock with noi oil change I'd say. All of the rounds except the final round 4 had us on Sport Hard tires. For round 4 they gave us S3s.

Round 1 -
GT Academy Silvia S15s @ Tsukuba:
1:05.9xx

Round 2 -
GT Academy 370Zs @Trial Mountain Reverse:
1:39.5xx

Round 3 -
Tuned GT Academy 370Zs @ Cape Ring North:
1:39.8xx

Round 4 -
Tuned GT Academy Nissan GT-R (Sport Softs) @ Spa-Francorchamps:
2:21.5xx

Kyle did a 2:21.5 at Spa

Sounds like a great time, think I watched that race, he was gone. I don't know about the rest of the finalists, but I was pretty suprised when they set the grip reduction to low, maybe they did that to make for better looking racing for tv? who knows.

Did they just set grip reduction to low for Spa or for all tracks? Jordan mentioned that rain was a possibility (or rather an expected surprise) at Spa (see news article comments). I wonder if they set grip reduction to low for the rain. The weather would have been a mistake so a good call not using it.

Had a good time running with you guys! Made a lot of friends and hope to keep in touch with you guys. I definitely plan on getting more practice for next year and just plain kicking ass. Hopefully stuff is a little more organized next year, we get headphones, the judges stay true to their word on penalizing dirty driving and cutting corners, etc. cause there was a whole lot of chaos going on lol. Good luck to all the guys who made it though. As Hunk said, I'll see those who didn't make it this year for next year's GT Academy.

Oh, and I ran a 1:39.7 on Trial Mountain Reverse after a couple laps today just cause to see. I was running 40 flats or so in the race. Just had a damn quick group on that one especially with forcedinduckshn(Nick) in the race.

All tracks were set to low

.

Can totally agree, thought there should of been penalties in the first race i was in, guess not. And it was alot easier to hear the cars the second day then the first with the lessened crowd that was there, kind of inconsistant if you ask me. I know I wasn't the only one that got cut early, some bad non desicions for others too. Just watched the stream for kings qualifying, his last lap of 2013 where he went off didn't go red, he went off where he didn't gain any advantage, that pretty much happened to me on my lap just earlier in the lap where i ran a 157.3, but thats not the point, they didn't count his last lap as good as he would of been in and beaten the 201613 that he barely missed the lap before, I gotta tell you wow, alot of luck involved to the controversy it looked like.

Yeah i watched the stream now im actually very angry now. Even the announcers said i was in. And the judge behind me on my last lap afterwards said it counted because i didnt intentionally go off track to get an advantage if anything i lost the 2 second advantage i had on my ghost lol. I just cant believe this now. I really wish i would have never watched this video now. Too late to change it now have to look forward to next year it is what it is.

wow, sorry to hear that, really feel for ya. Hope the judges have they're stuff together next year, I mean everyone dealt with the no hearing and stuff, but i mean come on. in a real car you still can hear the sound of your engine and tires screeching way better then that was, and in the game when another car gets close to ya, it makes it harder for you to hear ur own car, the game does that for ya, dunno how they justify it the other way and not let us use head phones.

not trying to make excuses why some of the fastest guys were eliminated, just bad luck it seems like, congrats to those who made it and you can guarantee you'll see me next year, along with a few others i know of.

Was ther any kind of warm up/ practise lap??

One warmup, one qualifying. Same as last year, except for race 2 they set the grid by race 1 results and used the same track. Last year the track changed for race 2 and we qualified for both.
