Don't the American guys have to do the fitness, media and real driving test that we get in the EU??

Nope, I kinda wish they threw in a little bit of all of that in there. It was half and half on who had real car experience and not. Would've benefited me greatly. We only had the racing on GT5 to deal with sadly. Throwing those in would definitely make for a more well rounded group of drivers who would be in contention for the top spot at Silverstone and not just who was good at sim racing or were able to catch some good luck on the way through the competition. From Mike in marketing for GT Academy that I talked to they may hold next year's final at Indy so we may see something a little different and a lot more interest at the event.

👍 totally agree.

Well I just got my Silverstone E-mail.

Who told us it was going to be two weeks at Nationals?
In the E-mail it says we're staying a week, not two.

I replied to it just now asking Tim what's up.

Do you US guys go silverstone with the EU winners?? Or is it separate??

There was a guy who said Aug 22- Sept 8, but I think that may have been for the TV production crew and setup crew, since they have to set up and tear down. I'd believe this guy saying a week, but we can always hope :P Let us know what he say.

Like King said man be ready you never know you only need one person to be ineligible for you to make it.

I know, I'm going to prepare for Silverstone just in case. I had my last cigarette today, and my goal is to drop 20 lbs by next month. I'm also going to try to get in some real life seat time. Probably try some of that autox stuff that everyones so keen about. My car is pretty much built for it already...

2004 RSX Type-S
KSport Pro Damper Coilover System
KSport Rear Lower Control Arms
KSport Rear Camber Kit
Hotchkis Competition Sway Bars F&R
Strut King Lower Tie Bar
ClubRSX Header
A'Pexi Noir Cat Back Exhaust
Injen Cold Air Intake
Innovative Motor Mounts (Complete Set)

...guess its time I did more than just race ppl at stop lights.

sounds fun, just checked my region and the 1/2 mile track here in town holds autox events http://www.hawkeyedownsspeedway.com also iowa speedway is about a 1 and a half hr drive which holds some events and they also got events up in waterloo which is like 40 mins north from me. definitely gonna look into finding somebody to co drive with till I can get my own stuff going.

heres a vid of the speedway. I can walk there within 10 mins, love hear the cars roar around the track from my house.

I agree also. They should do something like this in the US GTA. 👍 Increase the challenge.

And congrats to the top 16 going to Silverstone, and to Wardez, TRC and everyone else here on GTP who partipicate in the 16, make GTPlanet proud!!! :D:tup:gtpflag:

And to the others who didn't make it, you all gave it your best this year. Keep practicing you guys, one day you guys will be living the dream.

Even though I'm in the 400,000 and I was I'm the group using my DS3 , I gave it my best, even one of my PSN friends was laying down some cold hard times, and he did both wheel and DS3 ;). Just keep you heads up. Though I didn't get a chance to go and meet you guys this year. I'll try to do my best to do it next year.

But I'll still have the memories of this year regardless.

Well it says we're arriving on the 26th or so. If it crew time that was 2 weeks as we heard in SD, then they would need to come in before us to prepare. So it doesn't make sense atm.

We're you guys able to use left foot breaking at the finals?

Yeah of course. No reason why not. Only thing that threw me a bit off at first was that the pedals were centered. I have my pedal set a bit offset to the left so that the brake and gas are pretty much centered to the wheel to make for even leg work. Left foot braking at the finals I had to lean on my right leg a bit.

Congrats to the 2012 finalists, you all put in amazing times at Twin Ring Motegi to get to San Diego and I saw a lot of great driving at the event when I wasn't being interviewed or having a conversation. It was great to meet you guys and share stories of our respective national finals. I had a great time just watching and being there. Like I was telling just about everyone - I enjoyed seeing the event from the "other side" without all the pressure to perform. :)

Well done to everyone, and to the top 16 going to Silverstone: you are in for a memorable adventure!

I'll have a few cell photos on my facebook soon. http://www.facebook.com/bryan.heitkotter

Rich told me it was two weeks, starting on Aug 22nd. Congrats and good luck!

The reason I asked is because I know that most of you guys use the G27 which seems to make left foot braking difficult. I was wondering if at the finals the rig is set up similar to the G27.

I just wanted to congratulate everyone that made it to Silverstone, you raced your butts off and deserve every bit of it.

I also want to apologize to everyone for the way I was. I complained a lot about what happened to me, and that was wrong. It was just ignorant, and by no means was I trying to get more attention or people to feel sorry for me. What happened was my problem, and it should have stayed that way.

Finally, I want to give special congrats to Jett Racer, Sohnvonstig and Veloci2NR. You guys were just great, and I'll definitely be pulling for you while you're in Silverstone.

Have fun everyone, and work hard these next few weeks to prepare. Thanks for the racing, and thanks for the memories.

Brett, I really think you need to work on your car control and racecraft. It looks as though you were penalized in 3 of your 4 races. It's one thing to lose a race by one's own doing - it's not ok to have my dreams shattered by another driver that is trying too hard, driving beyond their abilities and not respecting their fellow competitors.

Thanks Bryan, looking forward to jumping into this thing head first. Glad to see my passport has another year on it to avoid that cluster (and $$). Again, had a great time meeting everyone, wish we could all go, but that's not the case. Definitely a lot of cool guys in this group. Hopefully I don't have to play the underdog card all through Silverstone, that was nerve racking.

I'm sorry for the spin, but I disagree. I saw an opening on the inside and tried to take it. You didn't know I was there and came down on me and we collided. The wreck could've been avoided by both of us; on one hand I could have been more patient, but you could've have also held your outside line. I did not dive bomb, nor cut the corner. When we collided I immediately let off the throttle, hence why you pulled ahead, my continuing to the outside was simply caused by my fighting my own car to keep from spinning.

I do everything I can to race clean, and have nothing but respect for everyone else who made the top 32. I always tried as hard as possible to avoid contact in the lobbies, and there are other finalists who can attest to that. I apologized for the spin in person to you, and by no means was it intentional.

Also, I received only one other penalty, which in my mind was a very stupid judgement. I very slightly cut a corner to avoid wardez sliding from a collision in front of me through the first chicane at Trial Mountain. I asked the judges for the reason behind the call and they said, and I quote "There might have been enough room for you to avoid it while staying on the track". To me that's stupid. In real life drivers do whatever it takes to avoid wrecks, and I did no more than what it took.

I also remember you bumping me during our first race at Tsukuba, and advancing your position, but then sliding off the track, but I chalked that up to nerves and a lack of experience with the setup/wheel. I'm slightly offended that you chose to bring this up here, rather than in person. Like I said, I have nothing but respect for everyone who was there, and I always strive to provide a clean race. I'll admit I was nervous and made my mistakes, but my weekend and my own dreams were taken away by someone else twice in round two. I have no interest in mentioning who it was, or confronting that person, but I'll get over what happened eventually.

I sincerely apologize for what happened Daryl. It was by no means intentional, and if I could change it I would. I'm sorry for our incident being the cause of your departure, especially since I know how you feel, and I hope we can move past this and return to the respectful, competitive racing be both desire.

Congrats Austin. It was a pleasure getting to meet you in San Diego. I really think you have a chance of doing quite well at Silverstone and will look forward to watching how this plays out. Cheers and good luck.

That would be awesome. They would probably save a lot on travel and setup expenses as well.

Brett, when you spun me in turn two at Tsukuba - I was already two-wide with Stephen Diem. There isn't room there for three-wide.

If you can make some friends at a local event try to get some seat time in a rwd. Also karting wouldn't be a bad idea. Not that I hope anyone gets knocked out from ineligibility, but it would be nice to see you make it man.

It never was three wide, nor did I attempt to make it as such. And if you look at the video, our initial contact occurred while half of my car was over the curb, leaving you plenty of room.

Obviously the race officials saw it differently than your view - as you were penalized. I was not warned or penalized for any contact during any of my races.

I was penalized because they thought the spin was enough to warrant a penalty, I assure you it was anything but intentional. And seeing that you still are continuing to argue, even after I gave my apology (both in person and on here), I think says more about you than anything.
