its a shame that alves was eliminated without ever getting a chance to ask em for a tps report

I lost my teammate way too early! D; He was the fastest in the karts and technically got 4th in the Quadrathalon. Pretty sure it was a huge shock to everyone. But the order of the slowest times for the first benchmark challenge was the same order they got eliminated, so they put a lot of priority in that it'd seem, sadly. =[ He would of surprised them later, no doubt.

Well, from the info I had gathered I had a little inside clue for what the winner did which ended up popping up on the third episode. Didn't have my full attention until something was said and I was like "Oh, wait a second! I was told blah blah did just that!" while I was watching it haha. I had it narrowed down to a few guys but that one sealed deal. Anyways, I won't spill the beans. Congrats Mr. Winner guy! You know who you are ;)

Hey guys, how did Sean Johnston get his drive in the IMSA GT3 Porsche? That is amazing! I had no idea he got a ride driving such an awesome car, then dominated the season. How did that all come about? Was it through his connections at GT Academy that he was able to build a racing career?

Sean knows better than most of us, but it was all pretty much done on his own.

I have no insider friends or anyone in the know. I have been following this just for fun but while watching the episode yesterday there was one moment when I felt the exact same thing about one particular line that was said by someone and I knew that was it. Your post seems to confirm my intuition if it was the same thing. I think I know him from another game...

I guess you'll find out if you're right or not then. I just want to see how it all went down since I only got a little info on what else happens.

I can't wait to see who won! :D

Episode 4 is on the Spike website now, but not on Youtube yet.

I've got to be honest. After the first episode, I was ready to lose hope for the "competition". After this last episode with the paintball guns, I'm disgusted at how they've gone and mistreated the purpose of the GT Academy. I KNOW I'm not the only one that sees it. If you do, please explain how you feel and see it so I don't have to be the lone ranger of reason and morality.

Just to point out, I didn't have a problem at all with Wolfgang winning the European? competition.

One more thing, the "competition" lasts a total of One or Two Weeks?

I think you are making too big of a deal about the paintball guns. First, it was simulating a stressful environment similar to a driver catching you towards the end of a race and second I think it was more in fun then a serious factor in eliminations. They realize you can't look solely at the times but more how the driver handled the pressure and even then I think it was a minor factor.

I agree, they've made a mockery of GT Academy. I understand why they did the paintball thing, to apply pressure. But only having one round was incredibly unfair to the people who went first. Boris has much more time to adapt to the car and the track. Which is evident by how quickly he tracked down his victims. They should've done 3 rounds and averaged the times.

👍

The instructors knew what they were doing and informed the judges of all possible factors that could have altered challenge results(changing conditions in the mud challenge, Boris getting quicker in the Juke, weight in the go karts etc). We did a lot more than what was shown on TV, i.e. in episode 4 you hear Boris ask how Eric performed in the 370z's on the South Circuit, that was a 100% off camera exercise and they still inquired about it to use in their critique/elimination decisions. The TV show is the only way that GT Academy can operate/make money; it needs to appeal to the masses which is most likely why they use the dramatic challenges. Just look at them as being a fun exercise for us because I can guarantee that they were indeed fun [: and support the show so that others in future years can have the same experience that we did!

I thought being chased by Boris/Dhani was a blast. Yeah, us early guys had an advantage, but listen to the judge/instructor brief. They never mention how quickly people were caught, just how they handled the situation. Much like in the trucks, where I qualified with the fastest time, but since it started raining it wasn't fair that I got to run a fairly dry track vs everyone after me. Also as pointed out above what you see on TV isn't everything we did.

I think you guys are being a little hypercritical of the show, at least you didn't get called a stereotypical American ;).

Thanks for that, I didn't know. I agree with...what can be agreed with? lol
Just read what my reply is for mcfizzle. Also, I'm really not only referencing the paintball challenge.

How long does the GT Academy go on for? One, Two weeks? That's my other point. It's so basic, for lack of a better word. There's a lot more that I can say, but I've spent more time than I wanted to on the computer as is, so "I'll be back".

haha stereotypical American. It was so strange when that guy said it.

As for the unfair bit, that's also what I'm talking about. Give the Competitors a week before eliminations start. The elimination process SEEMS so erratic.

I only said that so that I wouldn't give away who got eliminated. I'll talk aboiut that now that you mentioned it. They screwed that "one guy" over. Putting him last after that host got all that practice? They should have alternated shooters and drivers. Completely unfair how they did that.

👍 EX-ACT-LY

GT Academy basically put him on the motorsport industry radar.

Re: GTA 2012 Episode 4

In terms of the content it's probably the worst in terms of gimmicks I've seen so far. Hopefully the next couple of episodes are better than this one.

Also are there fans of how Dhani is presented in the show? He's probably a nice and great person to hang out with in real life but the production crew for Spike just makes him look like a complete tool 50% the time imho...

Aww mang, I was hoping someone would have partake in the discussion about the fidelity (there's another word for it) of the "competition" with me or others. Weak :(

Seen that Interview before and it's great. I cannot believe how "well-rounded" Johnston is. I was rooting for Heitkotter to win, but Johnston was the second "favorite" of mine.

As for Dhani, you're spot on about that. Sometimes the biggest pieces of crap are made to look like amazing persons. It's unfortunate to say the least.

Why did the judges rip into Nick so bad at the end there? Just because he hit the foam?

I'm more upset they stopped the episode before showing the result of the dogfight. :ouch: It's just my perspective, but I thought the judges spoke highly of Nick even at the end of the episode.

Props to Heikotter for winning the Tsukuba GT5 race even though one of the competitors was heard to say, "He probably doesn't even play the game anymore."

At the end they were saying he would have gone home if it weren't for Cressi getting such a low time. It doesn't matter, either way the next episode is gonna be awesome!
