It was kind of funny watching the number of total player retires rapidly increasing

 I have never hit a 'like' button in my life, not about to start with that now.

This made me think of this man

Yea,
I'm 9th in US :scared:

I hope the higher challenges are hard, with good rewards, like a suit, helmet, special designed car.

Got all my golds with ease, not gonna bother for ranking, the events were so dry and dull. Really I only enjoyed the last Nurburgring event.

You're missing the point..

This will be fun... I did get worried for a second because I'll be out of country June 9-19 and thought I might get caught out of completing round 7. However I see all rounds open until the 24th, and they'll be up in pairs anyways.

I'll see how I stack up but don't expect to be in contention, though I do wonder if missing a solid week and a half from the final round would put me impossibly behind anyways... Anyone ever set a fastest time within the first few days of running an event?

You're missing the point..

Which is? The only part of this thing worth putting any time into is the very last event in June which actually dictates who go's to the finals, until then what's the point?

Care to guide me to it? I knew the first/second round would be boring, I'm only stating my opinion of it. Nissan Leaf right hander, such excitement!

Not to answer for Mac but the point is to see how close you can get to the top of the leaderboard.... when you have a top 10 time in each round then you can say how boring it is. If you're waiting until last event to post a real time then good luck.

These first challenges are so simple though, the final rounds I assume are going to be hot laps of complete circuits. I don't see how repeating these simple tests over and over to go a few hundredths faster is going to help me in the later events.

Then fire it up June 24th and have at it.

We can't, you have to Bronze each event to get through to the last one. That's why it's boring and a waste of time to many. Easy qualification just so PD can get more people involved.

Thank you for explaining how a timed event works - gee I didn't know. I don't need to have a top finish to declare something boring. Thank you for the good luck charm too. Aiming for a top finish in any of the events won't really do much for me either way come the 8th round. Perhaps improve my driving slightly but nothing more, so if I find something to be dull, I won't try it more than once or twice. I might go back to the Schleife portion a few times, since I actually enjoyed it.

^ All my opinion, You may agree/disagree.

It's to allow new players a feel of the car, and game so they can get to the finals too.

Maybe but let's be honest, the chances of someone who doesn't own GT5 having a) the desire and b) the skill to get to the finals is very slim. It would take someone not interested enough in cars to buy GT but who is interested in being a real racing driver and having the skills to do so.

Work couldnt end any faster for me. I finally fired up gt5 on saturday, but it required a patch, so I said eff that and turned off my ps3. I'll just download this demo and try to learn the physics of the game off the demo

The demo has a patch.

What I'm gonna do is I'm gonna go through with it until I get my wheel on my normal account. Then I'm going to do it on the GTP account when my DFGT comes in

Will people with a clutch peddle on their wheel have an advantage when it comes down to the final two rounds?

Doubt it. My question, which will tick some people off, but why are controllers even allowed? Not like you drive a car with a controller

Okay so they added the Silvia. What cars are on which tracks? Can someone post the car/track list please. it could help people practice before going into the Academy App itself.

High Speed Ring, SSR5, Tokyo R246 and London. These are just speculation based on released pics. My question is, will the rankings be viewable from some online website, or can we only see them in the game demo? Dessy on the EU thread already claimin first

Off the top of my head, not in order:

Leaf:

Curva Grande at Monza from standing start
The long sweeping uphil left hander at Cape Ring from standing start
Custom track, sweeping left/right corners
Last two turns at Eiger
High speed ring turns 3,4,5 with two AI cars

Silvia:

First 3 turns at Tokyo
One of the banks at Route X
custom right/left/right/left eifel track
Pflanzgarten II to just before mini carousel at the ring
Turn 1/2 at rome

It will tick some people off because it's a stupid question. Wheels are expensive, PD don't want to exclude anyone from the competition.
