Just doing round 2-5, the nurb. one, it's not too hard but getting that first corner just right to gain enough speed for the rest of the course is pretty tough.

I'm currently at 39.3xx, I am trying to get into the 38's to get me into the leaderboards, I just have to get that first corner just right. :dopey:

I would say that 1st and last corner are the secret...(considering that you pass the red car in the right moment).

I get to the red car to fast as do a lot of people. At one point I actually caught and passed the red car without even needing to clip the grass, but for some reason you just won't carry as much speed as if you were to catch him slower..lol it's a conundrum

Yep... I did that a few times (passing the red car just before the curb) but my times dropped somehow or i ended on the grass on the other side of the track xD

You can say —in this case— that drive faster its not the best way to reach better times ^^

Definitely downshift to 3rd for the first turn so you can use that shift to rotate the car rather than trail braking because if you trail brake in 4th gear odds are you'll lose too much momentum.

Yep. Little brake before the first corner and downshift to keep the grip inside. Than you reach red line in the middle of the 2nd apex and go 4th gear to pass the yellow car. Go wide to the curb on the right and follow the draft of the red car. Once you feel you have pace to pass him push hard to your right without touch is bumper (or you'll be DQ) but be careful with the grass too. You have to pass him with 2 wheels on the grass and the other 2 just on the curb ^^

After that make sure you don't crash ^^ (sometimes the red car touch you back and you can loose control of the car).

Brake and reduce to 4th and let the car go with the flow (i dont use 3th gear in this corner) and make sure you can stay on the right side of the track to attack the last apex. Brake, 3th gear and then accel till youre finish (use the curb on the right).

I'm not used to write in english so... hope you understand ^^

To maximize your speed (in 2-5) you want to ease off of the brake. don't hard brake when you see a corner, just try to ease off the throttle of brake lightly to maximize speed whilst paying attention to gear change. turning is a piece of cake for me.

So do any really fast guys use cockpit view? Coming from iRacing it's just my 'home'. I'm using the first zoom as it replicates about the same view as iRacing, which with how close I am to the screen seems to be fairly to scale, which I like...but I wonder how much I'm sacrificing in visibility and being able to perfectly place the car where I need it. On 2-4 I'm down to a 31.604 and on the entry to the S curve I basically have to guess where the cones are until I'm on top of them due to the a pillar being in the way :P.

I found that you have to hold 5th gear for a long time. Like, the instant before it bounces off the limiter.

I'll have to give that a try then.

I think I'm getting to the point where I'm chasing hundredths from here on out... until it becomes thousandths.

I'm a bumper cam driver, and I'm pretty much guessing as to where the corners of the car are at any given time :P I imagine roof cam works rather well, TURBO uses roof cam....

Try switdh off all the info in the screen. I like it. :) Not pressure from the clock, ghosts or anything to distract with. And of course, very realistic.

That was the first thing I did, I hate a screen full of clutter.

I may try switching to hood cam, but the way it distorts the image is ridiculous, whereas cockpit + zoom looks very natural. Eh, I guess for now I'll just stick with what I got and if I find I can't keep pace then I'll start grasping at straws :P.

I think that the top camera on silvia its the best for 2-3 and 2-5 events ^^ At least for me. It looks like we're seeing the front of the car like we see when we're inside it and not from the top.

I usually use all cameras except inside view depending on the challenge / race. I dont use the inside camera because my TV its really small... but i love it.

I am a bumper cam guy, I may try the roof cam to see if it help's any.

I also improved my time on the Nurburgring event, I'm at 39.023 now ...so close to the 38's! But at least I am on the leaderboards hehe.

:D

btw, what force feedback setting's are you guys using?

I have mine set to 10, do you suppose it will help improve times if I lowered it?

At least for me, I had mine at 7 for the last GT Academy. Struggling for time, I went all the way down to 2. I've kept it there since, because I'm usually faster. Why? I either want instant response, or I have really weak arm muscles. Take your pick.

I have mine at 10, but then again my miata has no power steering IRL so it feels natural for it to be that heavy :)

^^yep, speaking of miata, na6 or na8? :D

And to not stray off topic, I attempted the "s curves" event with roof cam view and it seemed to help in avoiding the cones.

Na6 :) I've got a stack of parts started for a bit of a heart transplant though :P

On topic :P I tried roof cam as well :P It worked, but all my braking points were confusing :P

na8 FTW ;).

On the G27 I'm using 3 at the moment. Started with 7 and it was too much. Not as in it was too much force for me so much as the wheel, it felt like it was clipping, which is when the forces the wheel is supposed to be transmitting are to great for it to even reproduce. Running lower FFB allows you to feel everything you're supposed to...although in GT5 it doesn't seem like too big of a deal as the FFB doesn't really 'talk' well any ways.

What about the steering, mine is currently set to amateur, does the professional make any difference? I havent really tried any silvia courses yet, just enough to gold them, been workin with the leaf. This week I plan to belt out some silvia times

I don't know if it makes a difference or not, but I set it to simulation and run ABS1 as the only assist. Everything else off.

do you know it its possible to reduce de brake force to 1/3 or 2/3 in the DFGT? I know that some fast drivers race without ABS because they config their pedals like that but i dont know which steering wheels they use (g27, t500, fanatec, or others).
