Apologies in advance if I missed the answer to this but.....

is this confirmed? No Orlando finalists are eligible this year?

It was a mistake on their part. They have since fixed the rules sheet. Silverstone finalists are the only ones not eligible.

Five times today I've been on the verge of a 31.2 and then choke in the second esses :banghead: My revenge? Run over the longest stretch of cones I can find :)

I finally ran a good clean lap except last corner could of been better. But either way im happy as could be right now. I ran a 1:31.313 for 4th in US, 3rd if you dont include let_canada_in.:dopey:

Having a controller sucks. This car is completely impossible to drive fast with a controller it's just too twitchy especially with the throttle I can't get back on the gas ever just watch the ghost slowly pull away.:banghead:
It helps a little if you switch gas and brakes to r2 and l2, you get better throttle control around turns

Dude you have no idea how many times i've been on a .1 .2 time and hit those damn cones. I have a new found hatred for blue cones.

I hope PD pays for all the therapy everyone's going to need after they start having nightmares about these cones :nervous:

lmao im lucky my wheel isnt broke yet :). Im taking a break from it for a while, just have to watch rankings to make sure i dont drop to far down.

At this point, I'm 99.9999% certain you are locked in with that 3rd place time. It may drop, but certainly not going to drop out of the top 32 I can assure you that.

I hope so i was shaking when i saw that time pop up lmao. I was like finally put a lap together. I'll keep my fingers crossed. :sly:

I think anyone with a .3xx or lower can start their countdown to Orlando :dopey:

1'32.6 is my best so far.

That only puts me in the top 250 though, which is better than my previous GT Academy attempt when I was still learning with the wheel.

Great job! I'm still stuck at 31.520 ... Taking a break before I have a mental breakdown as I'm seeing blue cones flying thru the air - even when I'm not playing GT5!

Good job to the guys getting into the .3s. I was just on pace for a high 1 or a 2 only to screw the last turn. I did improve on my best time that lap. I went from a .477 to a .476. Lol that was the ultimate slap in the face.

I did that a couple days ago. Knocked off .002.

First question, how much time do you think you guys have spent on 8-5? Since Im not an alien driver, Ive had to put some real effort to get where Im at. Ive sat down for 5 or 6 play sessions lasting from 1-2 hours each, sometimes up to 3. If I were to guess Id say Ive driven this car/track combo for about 10 hours. I was just kinda curious to see who the aliens are who spent 1 or 2 hours total to get into the top 10, or if there were more people like myself who drive for hours and hours to take those precious tenths off.

Second question, for the people that made it to the national finals last year, did they tell you what cars/tracks were going to be used for the finals? The reason Im asking is because, should I make it, Id have a real tough time racing on a new track with a new car. Id be flying off every corner. It usually takes me about 3 or 4 laps just to get braking zones down. Not to mention Id be racing other cars, so Im worried that Id ruin not only my own race but someone elses.

I will say that they keep the track/car combos secret, until after the first group goes and then those players will obviously tell you what that round is that they just completed. Don't really want to say anything else.

My advice: If you make it for sure, I would spend as much time online in practice rooms until you go. I'm sure someone will be starting some up. (like Forcednduckshn) Try all different combos of cars & tracks so that some things are not a surprise. This includes weird tracks like Deep Forest Reverse. ;)

I have spent countless hours doing this. A few nights I have fallen asleep in my playseat. I dare say there are few with my dedication to improve. I teally have no chance at advancing, but I'm not going down without a fight, lol. I only started seriously playing when the game game out unlike others who have many years of experience. Next year will be a different story hopefully. Those that know my story, know how much I am dedicated to this game and my undying determination to be the best.

Last year's event was only a week long, but I spent 3-4 hours a night after work and almost all of the Saturday before the competition ended. I had to have my final time posted on Saturday night though due to having to go out of town on Sunday.

As for the finals create a room or join up with a spec room like Forced promotes. We had many nights with epic battles leading up to the finals. Heck, many of us felt like we knew each other pretty well from the online rooms by the time we got to Orlando.

I've tried that at least 5 or six times and end up with slower laps everytime. I guess x for gas and square for brake are just ingrained in my head from all the years of playing( since gt2 anyways). I'll have to give it a try again maybe this time I can get it to stick.

I personally spent some time to achieve my lap. 2 or 3 hrs a day at least. But i tried to keep it to 45 minutes a session cuz anymore than that i just start screwing up every corner then.

Yeah if you watch my ghost i messed up last turn a little or i would of had a shot at .1 or .2. Was upset exiting last turn was yelling at myself "I messed up dayum last turn again" lol. But i got decent exit speed luckily, and when i saw my time it was a BIG sigh of relief lol.

Nice, thanks for passing me :P That's always frustrating though when you do beat your time, but you know you screwed up in at least one of the turns, and then spend the next two days just trying to improve on that turn only to screw up another one.
