i think if there's one thing we can all take away from this it's a newfound hatred for the 370Z

I don't think it's the 370Z as much as the :boggled:KAZ tune:boggled:. Take the 370Z GT Academy car in GT5 and tune it and it's way better than this one.

wow frig...I think I finally figured out a way to drive this track. It just hit me and I could've sworn I got my test times in succession. I hit a 31.8xx then immediately a 31.7xx and that's where I stand. It's that last turn that kills me..I still can't figure it out and is usually a case of "come on hit it, come on hit it...don't mess up, don't mess up"...and I end either overshooting the apex or I go in way too slow. I'm sure i'm losing AT LEAST 2 to 3 tents there.

Well, we just figured out where the bulk of my problems are. Not just for this, but for hotlapping and driving in general. I had one of my friends come over that races in iRACING's top leagues and observe me while I ran laps. Right away, he noticed the problem. Due to my disability and the sparatic numbness in my legs, I rest my foot on my brake pedal and during braking, I am holding the brake far too long out of the corners. Kinda of like my leg/foot doesn't do what I need it to do when I want it to, if you can understand that. It gets lazy more or less. His suggestion was to keep my foot totally off the pedal when not braking. I have to consciously train myself to do this as in normal people, its like automatic and you don't think about it, its like second nature. Maybe not explaining it the best, guess you just have to be me to understand. Anyway, after 3 hours of practicing, my lap times are now very consistant with alot smoother cornering. I'm really gonna have to work at this but I can see improvement.

I just ran my fastest lap for the whole day and it was exactly the same as my time on the leaderboard... :banghead:

Well, I think this is how the progression goes...

Improvement, improvement, improvement, :banghead:, improvement, :banghead:, improvement, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, improvement, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, improvement, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, improvement, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:,:banghead:,:banghead:, tie, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:,:banghead:, :banghead:,:banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, :banghead:, improvement....

so.... your next improvement is coming shortly... after banging your head a couple more times. (I think)

Someone please double check my calculations.

I'd say thats pretty much correct, im giving up for tonight, i just slammed into the divider by the pit entrance by the last corner and somehow managed to flip the car over.

on the bright side though, it looks like the us.granturismo.com site is down for maintanence, i wouldve been pissed if i made a better time and couldnt upload it.

Congratulations on improving. Keep at it.

You can upload times from granturismo.com? How or what does that mean?

I'm starting to wonder if they installed the wing upside down on this car. I seem to get more lift than downforce at the back!

I don't think I've ever managed to spin another car at 65 mph in 4th gear.
Frustrated? Me?

I believe the 370Z Tuned Car '08 was specifically tuned in a way which forces the driver to maintain positive control of the throttle at any speed. Rather genius, given the context.

Actually I think thats the poor tire model. The tires don't seem to pick up grip when weight is added to them. This is also why the car doesn't become more stable when you go from full lift to any partial throttle. Sad thing is the physics had the same problems in the 2010 TT used for that academy (before GT5 was out) and they haven't improved it.

But your right, the car being very hard to drive helps separate people.

I'm sure they got exactly what they wanted. Doesn't make it any less frustrating when I'm half a second up on my ghost and I lose the back end coming out of turn 8 :banghead:

At least they didn't return to the comfort medium tires from the Tsukuba test in round 1 from last time.

I didn't know they would actually FLIP... Looks like I've just found something to work towards while still :banghead: to get into the 31's, or at LEAST low 32's

^ This!

This TT is going to be very tight by next Sunday night. Having only one short track is going to make things very interesting!

Agreed as well with Z06 and SpecJsw. It's both funny and frustrating learning to adapt your driving style to a car that is quite literally an abomination in terms of proper balance. It's like last year at Cape Ring and Indy Road Course except this year I was ready for it. It feels like the car has a 2" thick sway bar in the back and shocks completed cranked up creating a riciulous super twitchy condition. Yet the front has a significant and sometimes terminal steady state understeer if you put even 1 wheel more than 6" off line. So you have no choice but to epic trailbrake the car. Once you learn to do it it is actually kind of fun, but makes every corner you do an excersize in patience (and a bit of luck) as you walk the car right at the knife edge of rotation and set yourself up to get on the throttle early. It's an abomination of a car, but like these guys say, it will help to seperate the drivers (and I think that was their intent, for better or for worse.)

I love hitting low .3's all night, being a solid 2 tenths up on my ghost who knows how many times and ending up with a *barely* .2. Haha, such a PITA. I hate it when all of my time is at the very beginning of the track, then I need to nail the rest of the run to make it count, bleh.

Got a present from by cable provider. Internet was down all night yesterday and this morning. No ETA on the fix either. Given that yesterday and today were my only remaining chances to improve, my hopes of hitting my target and hopefully ending-up in the top100 US are almost gone.
Have fun, guys.

Having a controller sucks. This car is completely impossible to drive fast with a controller it's just too twitchy especially with the throttle I can't get back on the gas ever just watch the ghost slowly pull away.:banghead:

Have you seen Samurai_405's replay? he's a master with the DS3.

Samurai_405 is an alien from outer space who used hi tech gadgets to precisely control the car with ease :lol::lol:, in seriousness though, Samurai's analog stick might have been modified, maybe some sort of motion range limiter ... I've seen some guys put rubber band directly underneath the analog stick to limit it's full left/right motion :sly:

I did mine ... modified the face buttons sensitivity for throttle and brake, and they do work flawlessly.

Here is how it's done, the number and type/ thickness of rubber band determine how much strength needed to steer/more resistance to movement, with this mod, a driver can steer so much smoother :)

Personally I don't like the heavy steering of the analog stick with this mod, but others might find this useful to limit excessive steering angle in corner entry and exit. Good luck

I feel the pain, I've ran .4s a million times now while just stomping my old time and always one of last 2 corners I just f'ing flop.:yuck: One of these times imma nail it and it's gonna be nice. Practice makes perfect.
