It would be really great if someone could put the names to nicknames. Raced with quite a few of the guys, but only know a few of their real names. Grafpt, I know you are probably super busy trying to cover all of this, but it would be super cool if you could ask each competitor their screen name and real name.

Thanks again for the coverage today, will keep following this tonight, in case there is any more info.

Carl Posey was the winner of last years academy, his gtp tag is gtp_carlpicky or something close. A shame to see him go out :(

Wow, really surprised to see Blindside and Potato(Glad I'm wrong :) ) out. Some of the groups drawn together were fierce. Can't wait to see results from group 5. And that last video cut out right before they announced tomorrow's groups! Frustration!

But it's looking real good so far. Proud of everyone's effort, amazing level of determination present there. and damn, Specmiata's a giant xD

I think you have the wrong people being out.

I updated post #39 (page 2). It shows all the competitors, along with who got knocked out.

Also, the announcer stated, that one of these guys could get back in as an alternate. This would occur if someone was to sick to start the competition tomorrow, or any other unforseen reason why one of the competitors couldn't compete tomorrow. Hopefully, nothing like this would occur, but there is still a chance for those who didn't qualify for tomorrow.

Definitely exciting stuff. I can't even imagine how shaky I would be getting to race in this event. I get a bit fidgety just in our Lexus IS-F series qualifiers and races.
 
z06, are they penalizing dive bombing? One of the links in the OP is you I'm pretty sure, and you got dive bombed twice and finished 3rd.

The GTA Facebook post shows that z06(Christopher Morton) is in the lead after day 1. So, I would think it was either punished, or it was someone else that got dive bombed. I know there were multiple races, but that was a 3rd place finish.

Sorry to answer the question for z06.. Just don't know if the competitors are allowed to post about rulings. Also not sure when the reply will come. I would also like to hear from z06 or whomever that happened to, to find out how they are officiating this event. (not trying to cause any controversy, just curious.)
