1st round: two races with three laps to Indy and Tokyo. 4 groups with 5 and 6 people and 2 go to the next round.

1st: 6 points, 2nd: 3 points, 3rd: 1 point and 4th: 0 points in each race

In first race I let the second pass me with the ****ing slipstream in the last straight (I know: I am an idiot) and in the second I oversteered in the fast chicane at half the circuit while going in parallel with other driver in fight for first position. End of the final for me :(

Second round, the same ponts for the three races of this round. Three laps to Nurburgring, Indy and Daytona. From 8 to 4 finalists.

Final: 8 laps to Daytona. In my opinion, the worst circuit for a final.

Daytona road course or oval?

If the Oval was used for the final thats a disgrace, you may aswell just draw names out of a hat with the exaggerated slipstream.

Even if it included the infield course that still poses no overtaking outside of the oval. Poor decision.

It was the road course, but anyway, the slipstream made MakaayX win in the last oval, although rootbe was clearly the fastest driver.

Commiserations to Timpaq - that s**t was harsh!

Also commiserations to anyone who had to race on Daytona - lame excuse for a racetrack!

The fact that PD helped organize this event, and still kept the unrealistic slipstream to me it's the worst sign of all for GT5.

I mean, they thought about this event and yet belived that the unrealistic system designed to make "everyrace fun and close" was the way to go:tdown:

We have to complain like we did back in the DLC GT HD days if we want to get rid of this stupidity for GT5.

At least with the second place he made it to Silverstone right?

I knew it was going to be poorly organised and unfair, hence why I stayed out of the top 100 in the time trial. Cough.

I would like to put in my 0.02$ to Timppaq case.

We all seem to not see the main problem in the situation - it doesn't really matter whose fault was that - whether was it Timppaq being to hard on the wheel or organizers not checking it before the race - the point is - it is a game, a virtual race - if a player has a technical problem race must be restarted in that kind of situation - period.
I bet there was nothing in the papers you had to sign and send back, saying that you can not drive using too much strength...
If it was real life race Timppaq would simply be unlucky but it wasn't...
Considering there will be some online GT5 championships between for example GTP and GTRO or team GTRP team etc - wouldn't we stop the race if one of the players informed us (ie via headset) that he has a technical problem?
Personally I'm waiting for Timppaq to say something - no worries man, don't guilt yourself...(you surely don't)

Nonetheless I would like to congratulate all drivers who won so far.
Taking Finland as an example - player who won was in TT only 0,3s slower than Timppaq - we could have some really nice and tight race between both them...

Unusual situation in The Netherlands - hope you will be ok SolarSystem and good luck to your brother :) - which one of you is elder/younger ? just asking to know who was faster - younger or elder ?:)

I would propose creating new topic for UK "final of the finals".

Any news from Republic of Ireland ?

Yeah they all had to ride a bicycle on a treadmill, unfortunately one of the treadmills broke but the judge didn't notice so the guy in 10th place won because he arrived at the event first. Fair enough.

Managed to read all the posts now... there's no excuse for not restarting the final after the incident with Timppaq. Ocer had nothing to do with the problems, but that was just:tdown:

Fixing it during the race?:yuck:

I was thinking on how many generations we are still waiting until the game can have it's own stewards (effective penalty system). I thought maybe GT8 or 9, but problems like what happened with Timppaq and the use of Prologue... that kind of joke has no excuses.

Everybody should copy Sony/Nissan Australia.

Great pics Dan:drool::drool::drool:

Thats unfair Dan, you´re driving through sunny australia with a 370Z and i nearly can´t get my car out the garage because of snow. :grumpy:

;)

pfft :P, hardly sunny the last few days here. been a couple of big downpours in the last 48 hours or so.

In Ireland, 4 groups by 5, track Fuji, 3 practice race laps and then 4 race laps, I won my group, start 2 from the grid, overtaken by third but in first corner keep to inside line and went first to the rest of race.
2 were qualifying.
next stage 2 groups by 4, track unfortunately for me Daytona with infield track which i played 2 years ago only few times( didn't liked), so I go there without stress on loost position, finish 3 and that was game over for me.

If the steering wheel comes loose during a race it is basically your own fault...

Gran Turismo logic at it's best. :dunce:

That's the same crap like they think it would be cool to have ultra weird catch-up system in their game... they just don't get it!

BTW I have never heard about this dlc GT HD thing before a few weeks ago, but I actually think they should have done this, then we had the game by now, always with newest cars and tracks AND they could still fix the flaws the community doesn't like 💡 but oh well, now we probably get GT4.5 HD and everybody is happy...
hail PD and sorry for the rant.

Not sure whether this HR video from the french final was posted before. It is from one of the poul matches with a great battle between Stik and Learner Driver. The other two drivers, well, look for yourselves....

Well, yesterday was the Spanish final, and the winners are MacaayX and GTro rootbe :dopey:, congratulations and good luck for Silverstone.

The semi-final was crazy :scared:, 3 laps on nurburgrin, 3 laps on Indy and other 3 laps in Daytona, too long semifinals, but it was a great day

.Cheers.

After watching alot of videos from gt academy finals last days, I must say I am not impressed by some of you guys clean driving skills.. to be fast isnt everything, to being able to race a clean race with many fast cars around you is much more important, beacause with the STUPID slipstream system in gt you can fight for the win even if your TT time is 1 sec slower.

So how did everyone else do?

Warren was 2nd according to a message on his profile. I'm guessing only one goes through to Silverstone from Ireland?

Whether or not this is the case, 2nd is a fantastic showing. Well done mate. 👍

I thought 370's didn't have clutches like the GT-R
You thought wrong.

They do have Auto 370z's with flappy paddles, but the GTR is a manual gearbox but without manual clutch.

The manual 370z's do have a system that rev-matches on down shifts though, which is absolutely fantastic IMO.

Be interested to hear Dans feedback on that too, as I really enjoyed it. No need to heel and toe ever again :D

How come Dan's driving around in a 370Z?

Part of the prize?
Test drive?
Bought it to celebrate?

Sorry if I should know - I must have missed something.

Unusual situation in The Netherlands - hope you will be ok SolarSystem and good luck to your brother :) - which one of you is elder/younger ? just asking to know who was faster - younger or elder ?:)

It was very unusual and I have thought about not going. But it started in December when I already had the problems physically but I can live with that so I didnt go to hospital to set an operaton but then suddenly there was the GT Academy. And me knowing I would win again, at least a big chance of winning it knew I could not compete in Silverstone with the problems I had. So I went to hospital but there was no room in the next 2 months...

Then there was space for the 11th of February but then was the national finals which I knew only on the 2nd of February so I couldnt believe it! Very unfortunate and pissed off that Sony was so late I went to hospital to chance the date but the earliest was 24th of February, I had no other option and decided to do the final knowing that I wouldnt go to Silverstone but keeping that a secret... Together with my brother (he wanted me to go!) and my parents we decided that...

And so it went, and I won without too much difficulty but to have my brother become 2nd was the best option I had in mind the day before I said to my brother: If I want somebody to go instead of me I only wish for you or Ralph Verberkt (GTHQ_raffels87, good friend of me, who became 3rd)... In the end I cant imagine a better way how it went and I can live with it although I should have went to Silverstone and get my deserved 2nd chance of course...

My brother is the older one, he is 26 and I am 23... He started a lot more early than me in Gran Turismo and I always had my doubts on Gran Turismo itself. Doing Grand Prix Legends and GTR on PC I thought GT4 feels really arcade-like. But since I bought a PS3 for other games I tried GT5 Prologue and I liked it (realistic enough for me), now with the new physics in the GT5 demo I was excited to try them on the new tracks... There Sony comes in to ruin the show...

Nissan gave it to him for a week.

I guess its so he is used to driving it when he gets to silverstone!

That's lousy timing for you, SS. :(
I hope you get your 2nd chance next year. 👍

Welcome to GTPlanet. It's good to see you here. 👍
