@ ploosy

it doesn't matter if your time isn't top, hence why members from our community are trying to better themselves but i was trying to figure out why you were trolling the thread. but okay.

just a heads up so far the votes are in.

4 members agree to switch over to pro only.
1 member agrees to keep it out.

Members who are currently racing in challenge 2, you have 3 and a half hours left before the challenge ends. Please be sure to add your time with picture of proof before 11pm PST tonight!

update, 6 members are voting to keep it professional only and 1 has asked to keep it open to both. half and a half left, please send me your votes because this will be the deciding factor between making it professional start in C3 or keeping it open having people get discourage about members using standard physics which doesn't prove as much because of the huge difference in times members have been getting.

can we have a sneak peak at the next track? Im stuck with the current challenge and I cant wait for the next one.

sure since there's a hour left and I don't think anyone else will post any times.

Challenge 3's track is Costa di Amalfi / Forward. A few jumps, tight turns. Very fun track but hard to master. Good Luck to everyone!

Please note that starting Oct 14th, you guys have voted and times will only be counted towards each challenge if your running professional physics. Please note to re read the first page as I will be updating the picture needed for your challenges to come. Also welcoming new members to come and submit times and join us. Only 8 people running this at one time is fun but we want new faces to challenge the times members are setting.

I've tried out the Amuse S2000 Street Version at Costa di Amalfi and it keeps kicking out (TCS = 5). Do you guys have a suggestion on what else to adjust so it won't kick out as much?

Thanks!

Why not let some drivers use professional, and some use Standard. But not have both competing against each other, but 2 separate categories. Like an Amateur and Pro league. That will give amateurs a chance to compete, but also allow the pros to have more of a challenge.

This next challenge will be difficult... can't wait!

I left my PSP at home, so it may be later tonight or early tomorrow before I can post a time. Good luck guys!

@ cottees

to be honest with you, the vote was only for members who were actually submitting times. what makes no sense to be is this thread is well over 2000+ views and yet only a few are competing which still makes no sense to be what so ever. Driving with professional physics isn't even that hard to be really honest. If there is more interested by the end of this season then I will be up to have a Amateur and Professional League. But until more people are putting down numbers then it will stay Professional for the rest of the season.

@ psp88

I was driving on a few courses last night and I play without any assists, I can only score in 2'10'xxx range. It's gonna be really hard because the car is more sensitive then the Toyota Trueno from last challenge. I'm working on some secret settings right now but hopefully I can break into the 2'09 although by the time I get home later today, Glubags should be already doing that ;)

quick update.

Congrats to Yavy92 for placing first in Challenge 2. Please note that somethings have been changed on the first page and after reading all of your emails about the debate on which physics to use during C3 and above, sticking to professional only won 6 / 8 votes, 2/8 votes were to keep it open. Thanks to Psp88 for helping me format the first page, it should be a lot easier for you guys to read. Other then that make sure you check out C3's car and track. It's pretty damn hard so don't get frustrated, one thing I noticed is the Amuse S2000 Street Version is very bouncy on this course until you make some suspension adjustments. Running with a higher number reduced a lot of the suspension play at least for me while running the course last night. Anyways look forward to another great challenge and new members who are watching us but don't post. Come join us and Good Luck everyone!

I'm not at all sure what to expect in terms of how the car will handle here, but 2'09.XXX seems like a good motivational starting point. :)

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't slightly worried about wall-huggers on this track... but if the first two challenges have proved anything, it's that we're all rather skillful and competitive... hopefully no funny business will take place here. :P

you have to wall hug a lot of the tight corners, unless your talking about something else. plus if your hitting 2'09's then I envy you because im stuck at 2'10'6xx Glubags haha

so far I can only manage a 2:19 :yuck:.

also, can someone point me to a primer on spring rate, damper, toe, camber?
this is my second GT game (GT 1 being the first).

Thanks.

I was talking about people riding through the corners at much higher speeds by grinding along the outside walls. :sly:

I'm about to give this a shot... wish me luck!

@ psp88

You are open to any settings you wish but your time must be done with Professional Physics.

@ glubags

oh, hmm ill post my replay soon. I am currently at 2'09'9xx, but on some corners the damm car will slip even though I stay in 3rd to stable the car during braking then shift to 2nd to feather the accel.

oops mind you I find it a lot better to play with a ds3 instead of the small dpad and analog nub.

I got a time of 2'06.261 by wall hugging on a couple of tries but it is possible to get 2'05.XXX and got 2'09.760 without wall hugging.

And is wall hugging restricted? Because the whole point of time trial is to get the best time. :P

The whole point of a time trial is to get the best time without cheating. Wall-hugging is clearly cheating and takes any amount of skill out of this car/track combination.

After about 5 laps I managed a 2'11.397 without hugging walls, but I lost traction critically in a couple corners and had a terrible entry on the tight hairpin after the winding downhil section. This is with no assists whatsoever, so the turns are very demanding.

I drive an S2000 in real life, and the AP1s and early AP2s had no traction control. In fact, it wasn't until model year '06 that they got electronic stability management, so I don't use any assists with this '04 S2000 because it actually has none.

And just for the sake of saying it, Yavy, unless you post replays, it's going to be hard for me to believe you ran a 2'09 without wall-hugging when you could've hugged the walls the whole way around, then slowed down on the last straight to cross the line right at a "believable" time.

I think I may just sit out for round 3.

Looks like I will have to do another time because I overwrited my ghost data with the 2'06.261 time :ill:. I don't have a video camera on me now so I will post up another time with a video later on, and it will kinda suck if you sit out this challenge since your my only competition besides niigaki and andre_gp4. :P

honestly I don't even believe your time yavy, I sat there for an hour trying to go from 2'11 to 2'09

maybe I am cheating as well, since on most of the tight u turns. I have to hug the wall and feather the accel to keep the speed up. Even on the last 3 U turns to the final straightaway I have to hug the corners and stay in 1st so my exits are fast. I'll try to upload my 2'09 replay so you can check it out glubags.

I know the sound sucks, the video quality isn't that great, the picture is like a rollercoster because I had to hold up my go to my isight on my mac. but its still clear enough to see whether you guys consider this wall hugging.

Nope that was a perfect run, no wall hugging whatsoever. Wall hugging is when you smash into the wall on the outside at full speed which allows you to straighten up very quickly from the hit against the wall. This technique is used in all the of city courses.

I just got 2'09.132 and nearly got 2'08.XXX but spun out on the last turns :guilty:. Will post a video soon.

Also on that long turn near the middle-end 1:18 of your video, where you're just tapping on the accelerator and leaving on third gear, When you enter that turn you should drop from 4th to 2nd and keep on second when you exit the turn you can shave off .300 of a second.

oh thanks for clearing that up Vavy, sounds like what we had to do in Initial D Extreme Stage on certain courses to be in the top 5 worldwide. and thanks for the advice, ill try different things
