GT Racing - GT1, GT3, Blancpain Endurance Series & National GT SeriesSports Cars

From their Facebook fan page, I'm tickled pink seeing the Gainsco Racing McLaren 650S GT3. It will be great to see Dallas-based Gainsco Racing take on the Pirelli World Challenge series with that beautiful GT3 car. Then too, I'm always fascinated by the cars that enter World Challenge throughout the history of the series.

A quick shout to the GT Open series. I don't think it was that bad this year. It attracted some decent drivers like Peter Kox and Gianmaria Bruni, Pasin Lauthouras (who I both rate as Ferrari drivers) and Alvaro Parente. I think we saw great battles between teams like Team Nova Driver, AF Corse and Theo Martin Motorsport. It may be overshadowed by the Blancpain GT Series and even perhaps by the British GT's but it does OK.

I think we could see a similar level of decent racing in 2016.

They seem to have the most marquees out there.
Such a great selection of automobiles.
I'm so glad they're (PWC) at Lime Rock on Memorial Day weekend this year.
I have my ticket for Lime Rock as a birthday gift already.

Then I'll be at the IMSA races July 4th weekend at Watkins Glen and back to Lime Rock on the 22nd.
Oh, and the Ferrari's in September at Lime Rock.

Here's a few shots from years back.

Its a shame that there will be no more development tires permitted, but understandable. With any luck this opens the door for more level competition and allows more outside entries to be competitive in the 24.

Hopefully another home can be found for tire competition.

Interesting news coming out of British GT.

Team hard racing a Ginetta

With triple 8 being sold to BMR The Z4s are now being run by AMD

Factory BMW driver Alex Sims running a lambo with Liam griffin

Beachdean Howard running with Ross gunn and Jonny Adam defending his total with tfsport

Ecurie Ecosse to race a British car from a company they have been previously associated with.

Yeah, even little old Adelaide has a decent amount of McLarens on the streets regularly. There absolutely is a market for their cars down here.

Even the GT Open is getting in on the new wave of cars coming in to GT's. Theo Martin will run two M6's. Can't wait to see it all liveried up in black/grey with Vodafone sponsorship. Would look nice. Sometimes I think customer cars will look better than factory cars in terms of livery because theirs greater choice of colours. RLL just run in the BMW colours. No doubt Suderia Villorba Corsa will like AF Corsa run the 488.

Shocked that Triple Eight has been sold to BMR. Didn't expect that. I wonder what it will be like between the two teams in the BTCC.

Regarding Alex Sims, Marco Attard must have retired? Anyway he has some decent team-mates now and possibly a better car. Alex, Liam Griffin and Fabio Babini have the possibility of working well as a team.

Could Ecurie Ecosse run an Aston Martin Vantage?

Big fan of Beachdean. I am surprised at the move by Jonny Adam to TFSport. Even though if memory serves TF is a sister team to Beachdean.

Don't think marco has retired haven't had that confirmed yet but he is the big sponsor behind Ecurie Ecosse (he owns the Calais wine store)

You can still expect Jonny to turn up in a beechdean car at some point this year.

The teams aren't related. Tom Ferrier used to manage Scuderia Vittoria before setting up TF Sport in 2014 whereas Beechdean have been going since 2001 and are sort of the de-facto factory Aston team in British GT. Aston are keen to push on with the driver academy program and it makes sense to keep them with a team they already know, hence why Ross has been promoted to the GT3 seat. Adam will go wherever Aston tell him to go.

Actually not entirely true, Adam wanted a new challenge and wanted to try and win the championship with another team hence his swap to TF Sport, also there was 2 teams that were run out of prodrive in British GT, one is beechdean the second was PGF kinfaun which was partly run by some guy called John Gaw who is the team principal of Aston Martin Racing and the managing director of Prodrive.

That car chassis 001 was sold at the start of last year though to a guy in a America who used it for 1 race(PWC iirc) then it's now back up for sale.

The original owner Phil also owned an F430 GT2 but has just sold that aswell and bought a 458 GT3 with a Michelotto built engine making 700bhp without restrictors which he's planning to use for the 24h series and is looking for another car for British GT more than likely another Aston as John contract states he can only drive Aston which is why they told the Porsche GT3 they had in 2010 but then what do I know...
