Channel 7 are once again proving why they're the worst broadcaster in the country - the winner of the Bathurst 12 Hour is "My Kitchen Rules" (the most confusing competitive reality show ever invented and the home of the most spiteful and obnoxious media personalities). Because all that I have learned in the past hour is that "My Kitchen Rules" is back on.

What are you talking about? You mean to tell me you don't want to use Vortex fuel in your car?!!!

I can't even imagine how awesome a 24hr GT3 race would be here. I'm picturing a Spa sized field...it would be brutal but so awesome at the same time.

It died because it was poorly advertised and televised by 7, and was kind awful

They used to run 24hr races about a decade ago. There was the odd Mosler 900R or Porsche GT3 entered, but the races were dominated by these monsters, the Holden Monaro 427s:

They were purpose-built for the race by Garry Rogers Motorsport and were armed with a seven-litre engine. A road-going version was planned, but later cancelled (which caused quite the furore).

The race was cancelled after two years when it struggled to get entries. Most people didn't want to race the 427s because they were just so dominant.

I heard them talking about the old 24hr race, that's what got me thinking about it.

It may have not worked in the past for whatever reasons, but I'm picturing a new race with these new GT3 cars, with all the advances in streaming video and other things like that which weren't very common 10+ years ago, I think it could work.

Edit: Could Audi pull a sneaky one on the field??

The international appeal is what could make it work. I think the original 24hr race was envisioned as being similar to what you have in mind, but I think the 12hr would be better-suited branching out to be a part of a wider international series rather than a stand-alone event as it has been in the past.

I'd definitely love to see a 24H. I remember Greg Murphy raced a Corvette in the 12H.

With the AMG GT3 and M6 GT3, it would be a great event to have these cars run through the night.

Oooh that looks like a nasty hit...lots of fluid coming out from under the car.

Erebus needs to nail this stop! New pads for the big Merc...much much faster to change than the McLaren

It's a challenging 2minute lap. If Prototypes can work at Daytona, I think they can work here for 24 hours. I'd be careful of shying away the GT cars, like how Production car teams felt they could no longer go for the outright win when GT cars came in.

What on earth was Strauss doing in that GT-R? He was a lap down, he doesn't need to block Reynolds that much.

I wonder if it's not worth trying to get it to be part of the World Endurance Championship, although it's probably not the best circuit for prototypes.
Considering how few Prototypes finished at Daytona, I can't see any of them making it 24 hours at the much less forgiving Mount Panorama.
