Fan render of the new AMG GT3

After the goodbye of the gorgeous Z4, I think I'll be fan of the new Mercedes. It looks so good, even from the teaser, and it doesn't look an heavy bomb like Nissan, Bentley and the new M6 BMW (don't get me wrong I like them, but I think they're a bit ungraceful, I like more exotic supercars like Z4, Viper, Gallardo and, why not, the previous SLS AMG)

Agreed, this fills the Z4's void (when it's phased out) nicely. Perfect GT racer proportions (obviously that second render is fan made but it is probably not that far off).

GT3 just keeps getting crazier. :D

Thankfully the Cadillac GT3 leans more towards like an M3 Coupe in size. The Bentley, GT-R and M6 are kinda....fat. :P

I'm way out from the blue on this one, but with this AMG GT, a coupe Panamera(*ahem* 928, *cough* Porsche *cough*) would be an awesome GT3 machine. If just purpose built for GT racing. :sly:

It doesn't have the same zing as the Z4 though. Yes I understand that the Z4 GT3 is not "completely within regs" but it's still a very dramatic car with a great engine. The M6 just has another Twin Turbo engine and isn't as...special. The Lexus is much better than the M6. Besides the M6 is actually about the size of a Bentley.

For me the NA engines (just using cars for the 2016/17 seasons here) of the Audi, Lambo, Aston, Lexus, Callaway Corvette (supercharged is as good as NA...the current one is NA but the new one may be supercharged), and Reiter Camaro are so much better than the turbos. Only exception for turbos is the Mclaren 12C GT3...the 650S is quieter than the 12C by a skosh.

I believe that "specialness" lies in those bigger coupes to be classed with those MR and two-seat exotics. The more upright GT-R. That Luxoboat Continental. The sleek coupe from Bavaria. I feel they're quite special because they can perform as good as GT3 cars. All do impart to BoP.

The RCF road car looks quite compact in the flesh. Seems like it'll be a touch smaller than the GT-R(any specs for length of each car?).

No absolutely it's great that GT3 has such a broad spectrum of racers. But the Bentley is quite fat for a GT racer (size wise) and the BMW M6 is quite...vast. When watching the Top Gear episode with the M6, GT-R and Continental they were all about roughly the same size.

As for the RC-F...I believe it's BMW M4 sized.

And with how dark its getting early the last 20 laps will be almost if not night racing, sounds heavenly,

Is there anything saying that the Australian GT is going to Bathurst with the V8SC again?

I remember them saying a while back with the Carrera cup going to Bathurst for V8SC that the GT cars wont be, which is a shame, id rather watch the GT cars then 5 decent drivers and 15 gentlemen

It's gonna be a great weekend! I'm almost as excited for the GT races as I am for the V8s this weekend. It's a shame Maranello Motorsports couldn't get their cars repaired in time, though, I was really looking forward to seeing the Bentley in person. Still get to see that beautiful 650S close up though, so it's all good!

No Bentley?

Enge has raced in Australia only once – at Eastern Creek’s A1GP meeting in 2006 – and had his first look at the iconic Adelaide street circuit on Wednesday.

“From what I have seen of the Australian GT Championship, of all the circuits the series races on, this one is best suited to the Camaro, and best suited to my driving style,” he said.

“Like all street circuits, it rewards commitment and precision, and there’s no margin for error. I like that.

“I’m also a fan of the V8 Supercars and I usually watch the Clipsal round, so I feel a little in awe of the circuit on my first visit, because I’m so used to seeing it on TV.”
