The last line still rings as the saddest and worst part for me.

It is very sad, but it's an emotional response, not a pragmatic one - in my humble opinion I still think it's a massive double standard... Anyone lamenting the lack of prior action at the 'ring should be actively campaigning against Things Like This

40ft gap, tyre wall and catchfence vs 3ft gap, a warm summer breeze and few blades of long grass.

Sadly, that's just how motorsports is really, not news at this point. (well, not just motorsports)

And I don't get all the hot air spewing back and forth about the temporary rules. In the end, you as a spectator won't notice a thing. And the only difference in the end is slower lap times. Who cares...

Dion Von Moltke isn't impressed by GT3 cars returning. He wants them gone at the 'Ring.

Who would like it if I could nab the views of a factory Porsche driver?

I'm really surprised that Bathurst hasn't been neutered like this yet

I think that track is safe enough, minus visibility problems across the mountain that are unavoidable. Haven't seen cars get air over the hill down Mountain Straight yet, thankfully.

Spectators died at Bathurst, and the track was altered twice to prevent it, ultimately the kink in Con Rod straight was added to slow the cars down before they took off over the crest.

Kind of old new by now.:P

Anyways, I've been debating going to that race or saving and doing the WEC/TUSCC race at COTA instead. Either way I'm planning on going there at some point next year (F1 race is way out of the question).

Kinda off topic but what's wrong with Motorsports.com? I use it and haven't seen any problem.
It's like the motorsport equivalent of the Daily Mail, except worse. Most of their stories are grossly exaggerated, a lot of their "scoops" and stories are works of pure fiction.

You forgot to mention their terrible English. The photo section of the site is great but the 'news' is just the opinion of the editor and recycled press releases.

Not sure if anyone is aware but Nissan is streaming the Blancpain Endurance series at Monza this weekend. Qualifying is on as I type this, but it's almost over. Q3 left to go.

I did promise this little write-up after British GT, so I thought I could get it out the way now.

In the last 10+ years of watching it, I think it was the worst driving standards all round. We had one particular sham in the form of Salih Yoluc, a Pro ranked driver for VonRyan, showing sheer disregard for any other car on track. After tagging an Aston round at Cascades on lap 1, he proceeded to form a bottleneck (and a rather erratic one at that), resulting in him straight-lining Knickerbrook and causing what can only be described as a slow-motion mini pile-up. Unsurprisingly, he was excluded from the race, and the car itself was excluded from the entire weekend.

The main problem came from lapping. There was a time when GT4 and GT3 cars were able to run fairly well with each other on track, but the closing rate of modern GT3 cars, and their aggression when it comes to overtaking, made it a bit edgy to say the very least. The Nordschleife shares many similarities with Oulton Park, in track width and crests/undulations, so you can draw comparisons with that. I think they need a split next year, since running cars with such a big performance gap on such a tight track results in a disaster zone.

There was also the issue of "gentleman" drivers in GT3 being quite a bit slower than other GT3s - the current breed of GT3 car are so far removed from the original concept. It caused a few clumsy crashes - I really do believe we are at a pivotal point where the future of the class must be decided. The class will die one day, obviously, but I don't want it to do so out of poor racing and spiraling costs.

Man the Huracan has completely dominated once it got into the lead, that might end up getting some BoP adjustment me thinks.

edit: massive crash with the Mclaren Safety car will bunch the field.

Definitely driver error. Just moved over slightly and got caught out out by the brakes.
