GT Series track accuracy

People have been complaining for years about GT (and also F1 series) for having inaccuracies within their real life tracks.

What are some examples? I know there are multiple issues with Spa, for one. Any video or threads on here detailing all the inaccuracies?

At the end of the day, we're "driving" a car on a controller. I play to have fun, but I'm still curious about what exactly is wrong with various tracks in the series. Most of us have never raced on 99% of these tracks. Laser scanning can only do so much.

I know some GT tracks are laser scanned, Bathurst for example, so I never understand this. It feels pretty good to me, the only track I've drive in real life that is in the game is the Nordschleife. If you take off elevation (because you never really get elevation change in game like it is in real life), it looks accurate, I wasnt suprised by any corner or a place that was different.

Really? The accuracy of the tracks in the Codemasters F1 game is terrible, but the accuracy of the tracks in the GT series is one of the best in racing games.

Imagine starting a thread with a sweeping statement (people complaining about real circuits in GT being inaccurate), trying to present it as a fact and then providing absolutely no evidence or source of it in order to show it's a fact...

Also, please define "people", that could mean anything, and the conversations between you and your friends don't really account for the larger audience you're insinuating here.

Well I've no idea if it's what OP is referring to but some GT versions of tracks feel less bumpy than the real world versions, like they intentionally flatten out the laser scan data. But that could also be down to their less than stellar tyre and suspension modelling. Other than that though, I can't recall seeing too many complaints.

Yeah, probably the latter.

I don’t know how many times this video needs to posted, but here we go again:

The only other issue you notice is that tracks aren't quite grubby enough, they look too clean. But it's nitpicking, and has nothing to do with the actual geometry which is fine.
