Back in the day, I bought a PS2 when GT3 was released. I bought a PS3 when GT5 was released. And it's very likely that I will buy a PS4 ONLY when a full GT game is released for that console. So far, the prologue-type games haven't had enough content for my value-minded toy purchases. These are luxuries, not necessities. At this point it looks like a full GT game might not arrive on the PS4 anytime soon, but we will see.
To answer the question, I review each individual title and make a decision about whether it's got enough content for my dollar, and if I am likely to enjoy the game. As much as I love playing GT, I don't buy a game just because it's called "Gran Turismo." I buy a game because of its content.
Also, the only games I buy new are GT. With every other game, I wait a year or more until the price has come down to around $30-ish.
