48. A late starter to the GT series (or any gaming really). Got a PS3 for my son originally but came across a pre-loved version of GT5 in the cheap bins at the local gaming store in mid 2014. Moved on to GT6 in May 2015 and haven't looked back.

Thought I was one of the elders here when I saw the upper limit on your age choices stopped at 50. I'm 63 and after seeing others with a few years on me no longer ashamed to admit my immature faults. Hey, I'm retired. What else have I got to do besides change my hearing aid batteries?

Isn't it annoying when the batteries fail in the middle of a session - I've taken to keeping a pack of batteries near the PS3 now!

He only started a couple of years ago and already he is Alien fast! I remember a couple of years ago his son asked if it would be alright if his Dad started racing with us - very soon he went from novice to the fastest in the group!

I also fit into the oldest category - I started soon after GT5 came out - I bought a pre-owned copy to use with a PS3 which my wife got free with a mobile phone contract - bought my first wheel, a DFGT from Argos and was hooked. My wife and kids don't understand my hobby, but they tolerate it!

Not sure why the poll stops at 50+ as there are many older members on GT Planet and the "Geezer Club" is just for racers aged over 60.

This thread is a bit of spoiler because one thing I love in GT is that you can have great online battles with persons you dont know nothing about. I just use my imagination, and thats a plus in gaming experience.

Im 34 and I've been playing Gran Turismo since GT3 with GT4 being my all time favourite. I'll buy a PS4 just for GT Sport as I've done with every other Gran Turismo game I've played.

Its great to see so many people in the 50 plus bracket.

How did you start?

I waited until I was rather ancient before I got into car racing games

Xbox 360 and PGR3 were the first ones, then Forzas 1 - 4, all triple screen, followed by GT5 and 6. Some less memorable titles along the way as well

My first home racing games were Pole Position on Atari 2600 and Rad Racer II for NES.

My first racing game: a monster truck game on a Atari. It was in a box in my basement and thanks to its thread I can put names on the console and the game : Motorodeo on the Atari 2600. My only memory of it: the joystick was awful!

This is my first ever racing game and luckily it was quite a simulator! From 1983 and so much ahead of its time that I haven't found anything close to it until Nigel Mansell's GP.
At 12:55 you can see short list of its features - but you could overheat engine, blow tires, leak oil, skid on puddles - young boys heaven! 👍

I've just bought my 5th PS4, a super cheap pre-owned one off facebay too cheap to ignore.
HOWEVER I do want a "Pro" for GT Sport at some time so that'll be number 6
