People keep praising GT7 on PS5 saying how it's so beautiful and amazing....but honestly I noticed right away that something wasn't right. This is just 1 comparison I took pictures of.

The track is Autodrome Lago Maggiore

GT Sport on PS5/PS4 Pro

Look at the detail and how full the forest is. The houses etc...

Than look at the same track on GT7 for PS5! It's missing so much of those little details.

GT Sport on PS5/PS4 Pro
Inside car, but focus more on the detail straight ahead in the distance. Once again the detail is more full.

pffffttt, hahahahahahaha  Oh my lord, the tree talk is BAAAACCCKKK!! YEEESS!!

I'm sorry, I'm terribly sorry for laughing, it's just I've heard this tree talk so often in the past regarding GT that I find it hilarious now whenever someone brings it up.

Alright, back to your concern. My only problem with your comparison in the first one is that you're using different times of day and the PS5 picture shows a shadow casted over the background. I mean, I can see the lack of trees, but the details like houses are harder to make out. Personally, I would've tried taking closer screenshots if I were you. Maybe pull up to the wall and use the screenshot function on your Playstations.

EDIT: I see more of the backgrounds, they did cut out a lot of the forests. It has been done before, I don't know why PD seems to always cut things out like that. Though, I eventually forget about it later because it's such a minor thing.

It's not just the environment or structures, though. It's more than that. Things like tire marks on the track, texture detail of the road and curbs on the track, the depth of certain backgrounds, and shadows.

Ah, I see how that changed. The GT7 version looks more like a fresh paved surface, but I still see tire marks on it. There's also now a parking lot on the side of the road that wasn't there before. Though, I don't know if that's enough of a concern.

I wonder what the tree lovers think of the cars magically changing their LOD quality right in front of me in GT Sport.
What machine are you on, base PS4 or Pro? I'm on the Pro and can't say I've noticed this happening.

GT Sport definitely looks better on PS4 Pro. The moment I was thrown in the Music Rally race I could see the difference. GT7 is clearly running at a lower resolution. It's blurrier and the sunlight reflections on the cars sort of twinkle in the low res. I don't really care cus I'm not one who cares so much about gfx, and I presumed it looked better on PS5, but going by the above screenshots GT Sport definitely looks sharper and more refined. I suspect though that it's because GT7 has dynamic time of day so they can't "bake in" the lighting like they could in GT Sport, in which case it's an acceptable trade off.

I wouldnt mind sacrificing a few trees for the faster load times, awesome dynamic weather and day changes right on track, the wet pavement, puddles, reflecting sunlight, frame rate, ray tracing and all the other things that are grand compared to the rendering of a tree off in the background... its a game, not the metaverse... its not real, hopefully when we get to the ps7 you can actually smell the rubber burning, gasoline, and get a broken leg when we crash... unfortunately we're not there just yet.

I'm confused. Are we comparing PS4 Pro vs PS5? Or PS4 Pro/PS5 versus regular PS4? The labels don't make sense to me.

GT Sport looks the same on both consoles hence it's labelled as PS4 Pro/PS5. The GT7 screenshots are from PS5.

PS5, so PS4 Pro version. And yes, it happens all the time, because the PS4 Pro just couldn't handle such details without compromise.

One thing I did notice though, was that you have to adjust your TV.... then go into the game video output options and adjust the EV and Saturation... If I was home I would sub a screen shot, my view of the game is amazing and nothing like in the above screenshots...its almost tooooo clear to me.

It isn’t, it’s running at native 4K on PS5. 1800p checkerboard on PS4 Pro, for both GT Sport and GT7.

7 also interpolates between bakes to create a dynamic time of day. This is why the lighting still looks as good as it does. It’s also why the PS4 version is still similar to Sport, visually (which is a good thing given the dynamic time of day).

Oh no they have removed some trees far away in the distance. When they have added more detail closer in to the track where it’s more important. Go look at trial mountain that track on PS4 has loads of empty space compared to PS5 version where it’s packed with trees right up to the trackside. Or go look at Mt panorama Bathurst where PS5 extends the LOD out even further and has grass and trees further away that sport.
