After putting over 25 hours on PC2, it's hard to take any journalist serious that says GTS doesn't look good graphically compared to it's competitors and subsequently nicks points for it.
Depends on what you mean by graphically, I would imagine. What I took is that they mean in terms of how the tone and saturation looks, rather than how pretty everything looks. I do agree to an extent, some tracks did have some added visual flare that, while looking nice, took away from the realism in comparison to how it actually looks rather than graphical fidelity.

Expected reviews. Some people will embrace the change and some won't regarding SP.

I would deduct 2 Points straightaway even before review coz of that Stupid Save Online only thing. That is just simply a sick move which needs to be brought up and highlighted like Crazy in every review to be bashed from all corners.

Do you have specifics from individual game reviews to give it some context?

I can a big difference in gfx between GTS and other games and I do not have even HDR set. Color, saturation etc can be adjusted. I expect reviews to be around 80's and it will not make any difference IMO.

What does that change from what I've said? Like I said, specifically talking about the way the colors flow, and the tone, some tracks have a visual flare added to it which takes away from the realism just a bit compared to how others have captured it. It's not a bad thing, it's just that PD is taking on some more of that "cartoony' saturation that most GT fans would get on the case of other games about.

In the past reviewers have tended to either praise GT for the graphical and lighting quality, or slate it for offering sterile environments compared to the competition.

PD are wizards when it comes to lighting models, that's for sure, but it's also about the objects you shine that pretty lighting model on, of course. Cars and tracks.

Not sure what you are talking about  Something like S8 which IMO takes more beautiful pics than real life. May be it is due to OELD screen or something but even that can be adjusted. Though it definitely captures more light and IQ than some older phones from my observation.

I'm not talking about differences you'd see between TV's, I'm talking about gameplay that is uploaded the sameway regardless of which TV you're using. So, I'm not sure what you're talking about.

I remember doing a thread on GAF about how racing game reviews were useless from most publishers and I still stand by that fact. The average joe will say oh it's a pretty game with slick menus, but I want much more in depth stuff. GTP, ISR, etc are where it's at. Only names that people recommended to me were Eurogamer, Aussie dude at IGN, and Easy Allies.

What are your first impressions gents @SlipZtrEm @Famine

If you don't mind waiting until tomorrow mid-day, you can have a lot more than just our first ones...

All I'll say is that it's very much a Gran Turismo game. Despite being a very big departure from what's come before in many ways, it still has that unique feel.

I've already started playing it obsessively...

Nice excerpt from DarkStation's review:

In its need to please as large demographic as possible, GT Sport is unmistakably deep but oddly sparse compared to its illustrious predecessors. The game feels more like a prologue to the inevitable Gran Turismo 7, hopefully including everything that was left out here. To best summarize the experience that is Gran Turismo Sport is as if Ferrari made a sport model of Ferrari 458. It would be stripped of the passenger seat, electronics and comforts like radio, heated seat and power windows, and the suspension would be harder too. It still would be Ferrari, beautiful to look at and beast to drive, but you’d wish it had more to it.

Prologue shipped with less than 40 cars and 4 tracks, so not sure how GTS feels anything close to that. It has less content in previous games but Prologue comparisons I find are laughable.

Because it's considerably less on content and features in comparison to itself, making it seem like a ramp up to much bigger game in the future. Kind of like a prologue pans out. It's easy to connect the dots on the opinion.

Feel like it's such a lazy and inaccurate comparison though. It's a $60 game as well with lots more features than we would find in a Prologue title.

I am disappointed that the reviews do not include much substance regarding the VR and Sport modes. PD should have turned on the servers earlier so that the early press releases would be more thorough.

Seems like such a lazy and inaccurate way to post a counter point. It being $60 doesn't change anything nor is there any exact definition of what a prologue is supposed to entail. It seems like one, and it makes sense why. You don't like the view, that's fine, but it's not exactly far-fetched.

Lol.. :)
Either side..

I don't think they mean prologue in the sense of a Prologue Gran Turismo game. I think they mean as if it feels empty or half baked. Like a prequel to a game that isn't out.

I just dislike the notion that less cars/tracks than the PS3 era GTs = Prologue comparison and I do think it is far fetched.

@calvins48 does it feel empty though? that's my objection.

I don't think that it's a big deal. It's not the first game, nor the last one to go that route, and even more will follow. And I'm not talking about just games here. Soon you won't be able to take a piss without Signing in, and flushing the toillet will require some sort of microtransaction..
It's the way of the future kid.

I just can't understand how any reviewer could possibly put the graphics of GT Sport in the negatives/cons of the game. Did they review it on an old CRT TV or what? On a 4k HDR screen this is possibly the best and most realistic looking car/racing game so far. Have they not seen Dragon Trail at dusk? That's just pure magic right there with the lighting and all. :)
