It looks good?!!!

As usual graphics looks impressive, with the dust being thick and the environment are pleasant to look at. The surprise came from the sound that might be for the first time ever did sound good and also the engine growling become noticeable now, certainly heading into a good direction for the future sounds of GT franchise 👍

Also, I might put this video right here. It's not GT anyway but the latest version of Midnight Tune (or Wangan Midnight if you prefer to call that) arcade game, the 5DX Plus. It is featured some new cars, like the NSX featured in this video. I don't know much about this or that about Wangan Midnight, but it would be better to compare the track used in this video, which is Tokyo Expressway. Looks like this one is the full course of the track and it is a bit similiar with the PD rendition of the track.
So what do you all think? Is this how the track should look like in GT Sport?
Or the track should be a bit longer?
Maybe the track should have some alternate layout? Or some of you have different thought about it?

Let the discussion begin ;)

I'd say that a track like Tokyo Expressway has no place in an FIA sanctioned GT game. They should replace it with Apricot Hill, Deep Forest or Grand Valley given the nature of the game. Then they should have put the Tokyo track in the next GT game after Sport.

Where does it say that every track is going to be or have to be fia approved?

I would argue that PD have never really tried to simulate real life other than simply making the cars feel like they are real cars (or at least close too). Gran turismo's events havn't ever been barticularly realistic, environments not particularly realistic, tuning, upgrades, AI, cars the AI drive, anything really. Or at least I can think of. They clearly don't seem particularly devoted to realism like a game such as project cars would be.

I think they aim for realism, they're just not particularly good at it.

I think, being a racing game that plays up the angle of legal, sanctioned motorsport, Tokyo Expressway in GT Sport should have more trackside features and details that make it look like a full-on street circuit during a race weekend, like Rome or Seattle, etc. It kind of breaks the sense of realism when you see touring cars racing on a deserted highway with no indication they have any right to be there, or that there's some sort of formal event going on.

Thanks for the replies. Looking at what PD did with adding a street circuit such Tokyo Expressway somehow breaks the immersion for some people. I don't know what kind of legal track/ circuit based on city highway. Most of it was a public street though. Mountain road perhaps still make sense, but the Expressway is rather weird for legal races. In Wangan Midnight however it's okay because that was it based from an illegal run at the Tokyo motorway that is famous around 90's to early 00's, that doesn't need safety or race regulations, just blast your car down the highway.

However, I don't hate the track at all. In fact, city courses were my favorite kind of track, because of it narrow and tight corners in some area (like Monaco) makes racing even more challenging. The Tokyo Expressway is actually the same, it's impossible to easily overtake opponents at the track and it is a very tight course that you have to be careful and concentrate to not hit the barrier.

Because the track is already in the game, I think it will be better if they refined it with more details to make the surroundings more lively and have a touch of "weekend races", not just an empty highway (actually the current state of the track is a bit better compared to the first build with some detail added, but still looks empty). Actually, I also wondering if PD would added alternate layout of the Expressway, to compare which layout is the best. Or if it's not good enough, just added a real city tracks that already exist, such as Marina Bay, Macau, or the more recently Baku Circuit. Bring back the old track like Seattle or New York and do little changes to make it suitable with FIA regulations is a good idea too.

My main problem with the track stems from the fact that it looks very bland and FIA GT3 cars look very out of place on it's tarmac. I'd rather have the track be more well designed to cater to those kinds of cars like a more technical course rather than the pseudo-oval with a few tunnels we have now. At the very least they could at least add some grandstands and some trackside details that make it look more like an actual sanctioned race. Forza Horizon and Driveclub both do a great job making street tracks look like race cars belong on them. Maybe PD should be taking notes from T10 and Evo for trackside detailing on city courses.

They did fine with New York, Seoul, Hong Kong, the Special Stages from GT1 & GT2. Tokyo R246 has a good atmosphere and high speed. For Tokyo Epwy, it's almost what SS Route 5(?) would look like in daytime. A few air horns and a helicopter or two, should spruce things up.

...I agree with the high speed bit, but food?! Eating and driving at the same time is not kosher, dude.

Edit: darn it, the gaff has been fixed. Oh well.

I agree with @05XR8, it is not a big problem with PD when comes to trackside details. They always pulled out a good racing atmosphere, even in their fantasy track. They adding more trackside details for the Expressway is feasible because the game as it current state is WIP, so let's hope they make it right.

PD will forever baffle me with their seemingly random camera position choices. Some cars it's a bonnet view, like the first car in the video up the page (GTR?), others like the Subaru are on the roof. Why not one or the other consistently, or both? This issue plagued GT6, it's seemingly continuing into GTS. As someone with a strong preference for bonnet view in any game, it's frustrating.

Maybe it's just personal feel but I've spent hundreds of hours using that angle and I haven't had any issues with camera positioning before.

Well yes, it's personal preference. I use the roof cam in GT6 because it's still the best of the options for me but I'd much prefer a bonnet view. I just don't get the inconsistency with it. Why not one or the other, consistently? Or both? One car being roof, one being bonnet, as the same "view", is bizarre.

So, I just found this:

At first I thought it was fan made but after really examining it, I don't really see anything fan made about it. Seems vary legitimate, quite odd considering this is on a show floor demo and not a released copy.

Well made, yes. Legitimate in-game intro? Considering it's on some random dude's channel with less than 1000 subscribers and not on the official Sony Playstation channel as well, I'm calling major BS.

Its why at first I thought it was fan made. Thing though is that there is a lot of new intro footage not seen in any teaser or trailer before, something that never happens with a fan-made intro as I've seen many times. As odd as it is that it isn't on Sony's official channel, its hard to call it fan made when it features a lot of material not seen anywhere else.

Nitpicking here, but the transition between 1:08 and 1:09 is really choppy so I doubt it's an actual intro.

It s a fanmade, all recycle cut

Also to note, the sounds were all in-engine rather than dubbed which looks like further evidence its fan-made.
