PD have nailed what I wanted from the sound engine (like I wrote in my article), it's not just about engine notes, but the noises from the suspension, gears engaging, gear whine, turbo flutter, etc it's all there. Credit where it's due Forza audio man.
Posts like yours make me really sad.. how is such wonderful team like PD not able to sort this problem on their own... it was a good move to hire whoever they hired... anyway, good to hear all those things you wrote down in the game the way they should

Can we stop calling him a Forza guy,?? ok, you can't change the past, but you can do the future, and he's doing the future on PD and not T10!! So now let's just call him "Cazaviel-san"!! :D

Sounds are still bad and I don't get why you guys hype it so much.
The backfire noises, suspension noises and stuff like audible shifting are nice, but the engine samples are still very thin, unrealistic and synthetic. Yes, it's an improvement, but far from ideal.

I dunno, it's more than I expected but still disappointing.

EDIT: And the opponent cars are way too loud, you'd never hear them even remotely like that in a roadcar.

For GT definitely a huge improvement, for the industries standart nowadays? still very average.

Yeah, that's what I mean. Improving GT's sounds is something I could do on my own when you give me the tools.
GT was the industry standard once and it's just really sad they still cannot achieve anything close.
Hardware is definitely not the issue.

When was GT the industry standard in sounds?

Well, I think that's the purpose of a Beta test: to hear people's voice after testing the game. So, if we're asking for sound tweakings they should hear us. If we find the game still a little too arcade, they should try to fix this aspect. Let's hope PD will listen to the many feedbacks they'll eventually receive when the Beta testing period ends.

Honestly it's a huge step up from what we had before isn't? Thats what I care about and it's also a beta so things could get better in the future. I am definitely impressed from what I seen so far, and yes are there things that could be better absolutely, however that can be said about all the racing games I have.

I doubt we'll see many technical changes. The Beta is likely more a testbed for the Balance Of Performance, servers and overall performance. I'd love to be proven wrong though.
What "whole package"? All we can really judge right now is the sounds and graphics, from just these videos.
Graphics, audio, car selection, track selection and overall gameplay features.
Graphics okay, no doubt about it, the game is gorgeous but the car and track selection are extremely reduced and not too impressive anymore. The game will also have much less features than what's typical for GT and similar games, while focusing on e-sports. So there's not a lot left where it could be a "benchmark".
Physics: We'll see, but while it's supposed to be good, it won't be comparable to AC or rF2.
Sounds: Yeah... see my posts above.

The issue is, and that happens every time before a new GT is released, people are pleased at first and hype it as the next best thing ever, including the audio, and once they played it for two weeks, they realize how wrong they were.

I still remember how amar (and I respect and love that guy a lot) said something like "The Ford GT LM (in GT5: P, pre-release) rumbles like AC/DC live on my home cinema system." In the end, its sound sucked, just like in all the other cars.

It's no wonder PD only takes baby steps, when everyone in the community is pleased with this.

I don't think it is necessarily fair to judge car, or especially track selection, where we haven't even seen half of the latter revealed as of now. And we still have such vague description of the offline features of the game that its kind of difficult for me to judge them too.

I think it's funny that some folks are so bothered by the the mention of Forza that they don't even like it when it's brought up in relation to a person's previous employment.

Really impressed by the updates in the sounds I've heard so far. Good job to not only Caviezel, but all the folks at Polyphony that work in the sound department. The sound engine was always good: now it seems the samples are at a matching quality, and there's a lot more of them to cover the many different sounds of a modern race car.

There are still improvements needed, in terms of gearshifts and that silly bonking noise when there's contact, but this is easily the best-sounding GT game so far. I'm looking forward to hearing things myself instead of through a stream.

The graphics are obviously fantastic, but honestly, that's pretty much expected from a company that's brought up accurate Ferrari reds at numerous events. Out of every single aspect of the game, that is the one area I'm least concerned. When hasn't GT looked great?*

* - Not counting PS3-era Standards, of course.

We know the game will feature ~150 cars, which is not even half the amount of Premium cars in GT6.
Track count was already announced too and they also talked in-depth about the features of the game.
Don't expect more than what was announced already.

Yes, but, whilst it may be less than previous GT games, is slightly more than average for games in this category (at least at launch).

I think they sit below project cars and higher than Assetto Corsa on track count.

I don't remember anything beyond a basic explanation of each feature. Maybe I am wrong?

PD Sound Team: "what do you people want from us?!"

I'm pretty much content with the sounds. They're not "bad" by any means from what I can hear from the game itself. The only problem I have with them is the transmission whine being too loud in some cars and surrounding cars overwhelming the player's, even in cockpit view.

But this is coming from someone with pretty low standards; I just want the cars to sound like real-life cars, which is something PD had always struggled with.

Is that a CPU game? Does it sound like that from the box or did people mod out the game like they normally do with the CPU racing games? Thats sounds Amazing! With PC its really hard for me to get into them though it so much stuff i feel like you have to do to really get the best out the games.

Also I can relate to what your saying about GT @Eager Snake. I play many racing games, and have played many a game that technically are better than Gran Turismo in various aspects. But every time I find myself coming back to GT no matter what.

It's best exemplified when I've played Forza, having played Forza's 2-5, they're great games don't get me wrong, and there's certain aspects GT could learn from (and are doing so), namely car customisation and sometimes the sound. But I've just never been able to properly get into them and enjoy them. I think it's because GT has been very special to me, what with GT2 being the first game I ever played (and have many a good memory as a result), thus forming the bond that has stood ever since.

Anyway I'll stop blabbering with my soppy rose-tinted glasses nonsense, as I could go on forever .

Exactly. I don't know, with previous games I ended up using the cars that sounded good in my opinion and I was really happy with them, even if those were only 4 cars jajajaja, but, anyway, I always come back to GT.
It's the elegance of it, the matter that they have a proper photomode that mimics a real camera, and being a photographer myself is like a blessing for me :)
So, I enjoy the series for a whole lot of different reasons. I can breathe in it, and it sounds silly to many other players, but I can enjoy it massively.
