Some more videos of yesterday, the last day of the beta.
It just feels weird not racing right now.
The day started for me with the Blue Moon Bay fuel economy races which I showed already yesterday. But I also still wanted to show my fastest qualifying lap there. Beating all the Volkswagen GTI VGT's (assumed to be the fastest car around that track) with the Renault RS01 felt really good.
It also turned out to be the best car to use during the race. Really like that car so I was happy I could finally use it for something good, rather than driving around in the mid-field somewhere.
And while I also showed the races of Tokyo Expressway already, I also managed to get the fastest lap there at the time. Though not for long I believe, saw in a screenshot + video later on that
@Saidur_Ali and
@zzz_pt still beat it.
But I'm still happy with my time, given the short time I had between all of the races. As you can see it wasn't even a clean lap so I could've definately taken it into the 1:31 without any mistakes. Really enjoyed my time on this track though, wish they used it earlier and more often in the beta.
Then later on with the last 3 races of the beta I still had a pretty nice Dragon Trail race with the Nissan GT-R together with
@turnupdaheat and some others. Made a mistake in the chicane which costed me a few places but made a nice comeback. In the end still fighting for 3rd position after another little mistake and did the perfect cross back in the last corner to keep that 3rd position.
I really love doing that kind of defending/overtaking, especially if it's for a position at the finish line.
Then at Brands Hatch GP with the Nissan GT-R Gr3 I still had a very good fuel economy race. Bit of a mess in the first few corners but luckily I managed to get out of them without any contact. Following Marcolah from the end of lap 1 all the way untill lap 9. Had some very good fuel management while staying close to him. Short shifting turned out to be a very important thing to finish this race, as without it you'd run out of fuel before the end, even on the leanest fuel map. In the last few laps I managed to close the gap a bit more and make use of his slipstream to save even more fuel. Then in lap 9 I think he had to slow down a lot to be able to make it to the end and I was able to pass him and drive it home, crossing the line 1st with a massive lead to 2nd place. Looks like many of them had fuel problems in the last lap. For me, this was pretty much the closing race of the beta, very exciting not knowing what fuel strategy Marcolah was using and getting the best result in the end.
And then sadly the last race of GT Sport Closed Beta. Some just wanted to race, some wanted to have fun cruising with eachother around the track. I didn't mind, but I still wanted to try to win the race.
Unfortunately a small accident where I was unable to avoid ApexMagnet in time turned into a bigger accident when I was hit from behind by Marcolah. Saw the video of him as well and he tried all he could to avoid me so I don't blame him for that, he also had both fronts damaged and a 10 sec penalty so it wasn't easy for him either. It did set me back quite a few positions and had damage to both sides on the rear. With some good fuel management and fast pace I did still manage to close the gap and eventually ended up 2nd which after all that happened in this race was still quite a good result.
The wait till October will be very long now, going to miss all these races untill then.
Some more video's of earlier races I had might still come, but I'm not sure. I might just end it with this final race and make a highlight video of all the leftover races I still have saved instead.
