I know that @Zlork but this is PD's best take at showing it in non HDR so far. Of course it's impossible to notice HDR or 4K on a 1080p SDR screen.

And its a bloody terrible take if you ask me.

Like SDR would make everything look like 15 years old tv. All greyed out. Grey layer over the left side of the picture is what that is. Nothing more. Its like those picture enhancement demos they make for tvs.

Yes there is difference in color and brightness - HDR is able to burn through bright areas. Im just not convinced i prefer burned over detail as reflections and glare look fine in gts without hdr.

Theres huge differences between sdr fhd tvs and as big differences between a calibrated sdr fhd tv and one before calibration.

The new Samsung QLED was just tested as "terrible" without calibration.

Im not so sure about 4k either. Just look at good quality bluray in a good fhd tv and show me we need 4k HDR.. :)

Hello my friend, you need to check those links if you want to open a GT500 room like i am seing right now on your stream.
- How to Create a Room 1
- How to Create a Room 2
- How to Create a Room 3 here you will find the filters you need the most. category GT500 in this case.
・Car Filters
Filter the cars that can take part in the race according to manufacturer or category. When you select "Filter by Manufacturer", you must first specify a country. You will then be able to select up to five manufacturers from that country.

Thank you for this! I'm getting a little better at it. Horrible at checking gtplanet though...I like when everyone uses the same car, but it seems like they don't give you many options in that list.

I didn't say it was good. ;)

Yet, they need to try and sell it somehow, since they spent time developing the wider color range shenanigans.

How do you sell (not show) people the HDR on a SDR screen? You'll end up needing to use a grey layer over a picture with lots of highlights or a white layer over a picture with lots of darks and shadows.

Not as impossible to show as VR, but I reckon it is tricky.

I won't be buying a 4K HDR anytime soon either. My FHQ is good enough for now. :) Well, when I see GTS on a good HDR screen maybe I'll change my mind. But I'm good for now.

First of all, you're talking about Samsung. It's pretty much a normal thing already that their TVs are pretty bad, to not say anything worse. Almost every single Samsung TV I tried is color blind. ALMOST EVERY SINGLE ONE....
That being said, it is not about burning certain areas out, it's about the contrast and the level of detail that you can retain in both shadows and highlights. Some TVs are better, some TVs are worse.
In my opinion, Sony is leading this waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much, their TVs are just top notch.
You REALLY need to sit down and enjoy some movies in a proper place, I have a dedicated room in my house for movies and games, and let me tell you, seeing recent movies in 4K like The Martian, The Revenant, Mad Max Fury Road (this one has an incredible HDR) or Arrival (incredible) is just as incredible as it was the first moment when I saw a DVD after years of seeing HVS. Is that awesome. 4K alone is good, but 4K with HDR and a proper big TV with a good HT is just amazing.

I have a Samsung with DNIe, a pre-HDR feature. And when I put in Demo mode to compare with or without the DNIe,
my screen show the same effect, "grey layer". It's a huge difference.

And the HDR is much better than the DNIe...

For this you have the option to limit weight and power , also any parameter that will select the car you want to race at an certain level. You can also name the room with the specs and car you are racing, like this only interested racers will enter the room... I was looking at your room last week and i wanted to race too, i am a GT500 suzuka fanatic,,,,, but no PS3 anymore... :guilty:

AAAHHHH you can move the focus point! I've been dying for that functionality in GT5 and 6, I legitimately almost never use center-focus on my cameral IRL, I'm almost exclusively in one of the 3rds corners.

I wonder how much of the features and functions from the Scapes' camera will be present, it'd seem like they'd all be there but I don't think that's been confirmed. Either way I think photomode will be an absolute dream.

Where did you see him moving the focus point? What he did was moving the camera, but focus-recompose we could do already in previous games if you had lock-on AF selected.

Maybe I'm missing something?

Ah, damn. You're right. I thought he was adjusting where the focus point was but it was just indicating where the camera was focused after rotation/movement.

Still a useful addition, but ARGH would I like some focus point adjustment parameters.

The game is looking very polished. Need to different times of days though. Do not care much about rain would like dynamic TOD though. I can't believe that did not make into the game
I'm glad there are different times of day available to choose from. I thought it would be more restricted. It is too bad there will only be static weather.

I think it would be nice if there were two versions in one layout like some tracks in GT5 GT6.

high track quality/Fixed time and weather
middle track quality/time transitions & weather changes

I took these screenshots from the recent video on Scapes. There are so many options on this photo mode..masks, white balance adjustment 3-12k!, shadow correction, colour tone correction, endless filters and corrections. This is all the photo mode you will ever need!

and then the' Key switch option' which puts it in to just day time running lights...the things they have thought of!..

I can't quite remember the number but I think on some (not all) scapes if they fit you can add up to 12? Cars..Does anyone remember how many you can fit on one Scape?

This is so advanced compared to GT5/6

I really do understand not every one is in to photography or will use Scapes and the Photomode but a big community will use this new feature. The new 'Photo Travel' ~all around the world~:gtplanet: ..awesome 👍

Ooooh my god! I'm having a crisis!

Seriously, that is amazing. I'm so excited to get my hands on this.

If you as a photo pro say it is good, then IT IS GOOD. Convinced, no brainer. Sold!

Not sure but if we can really build teams, we could run seriously long endurance races.

do you have proof of this exactly? As a guy who loves endurance racing, this is something I really would like confirmation on.

well I'm sure somebody could find a proof of the team-creating :D

If GTS, an online focused game, won't allow people to create endurance type of races online like we could in previous titles, it will be a pretty stupid decision from PD. I mean, if you only offer online, at least let people race as much as possible and not only race 20 30 lap races max.

I don't know if it will be as fun in GTS as it was in GT5/6 to race for a few hours straight with the same time and weather conditions though.

We know there won't be dynamic weather but would be cool to have dynamic time/lighting at least...

This is essentially what I am hoping for. I am ok with a lack of dynamic weather, but if they allow dynamic time online, it'll make endurance races that much easier to organize. I want to do races longer than 4-6 hours

That is exactly what I want. Hope they allow us to create the races we want, no matter how they are...

Do we know if there will be any chance to compete different categories together at the same time? I mean, a lobby with 10 Gr1 Cars and 10 Gr3 Cars?

Cheers!

An online random weather/time of day, can be interesting...
