Yeah it's a great track, one of my favourites. I wonder if PDi get a reduced cost for the licence with being a Japanese dev. I've heard a couple of devs complaining that the licence was too expensive to include it in their game.

Maybe. Or it could be that PD thinks that it's worth the cost, since it's a Japanese track. That might also explain why relatively many of GT Sport's tracks are fictional, since "free" tracks like that can compensate for some expensive real life tracks.

But again, it could also be that PD simply likes to design tracks.

Artistically speaking, must be a very boring job to recreate the same tracks over and over again.
Imagination it's a very important thing.

Kaz should just make a second smaller Polyphony studio that focuses on creating the Tourist Trophy series and release that in between each GT. Now you have two dev teams creating track content / assets, R&D tech research, which can be used for both series. They can still take 4 years to make the games but the alternate releases means it'll only be a two year wait between a TT and a GT.

Brilliant idea I must say, should've eased the waiting period between sequels
I think that PDI has Tokyo and Fukuoka development studios, wonder if they should turn the Explore studios that located abroad into full-fledged dev studios?

So basically they invited Kaz for a surprise birthday party... which is fine I guess :D. Hope I would be there though...

Btw anyone knows when Gamescom and TGS is going to held this year? Both as we already know is a biggest gaming event then imo it will surely have something new for GTS and if we also looking back through GT history there is always new trailers showed up on these event besides E3.

WTF with audio? It ruined EVERYTHING.
my God - if it's even were so hard to setup all this properly...

I think Gamescom hasn't been a big event for PS eversince PSX arrived. TGS is definitely something I would expect to see new GTS stuff in but at this point all thats left to see is Weather and a couple of tracks/cars.

Hopefully there's a launch trailer planned.

If PS hold a conference than expect a big GT presence. Jim Ryan said they're thinking about coming back but I'm not sure if they did confirm anything.

PSX @ KL was a disaster event. My friend was there queueing and end up going home beforw going in. Its like queueing 2 hour to reach entrance, then another 2 hour to go up the stairs, then another 2hour to reach the hall and finally. another 2hour queue for GT sport slot. Audio is messed up and the venue is too freakin small.

I also heard that through social media as well, the queueing is crazy and some people become impatient waiting for hours there. Plus, the live stream is messed up with broken audio (they even played "Happy Birthday" in the middle of GTS presentation lol).

Anyway this is the first time Southeast Asia got an event like this, so this would be a good lesson for event organizers to evaluate and avoid mistakes for future event.

Summary for non-German speaking people:
  • Great graphics, smooth frame-rates.
  • Sim-cade game; no hard-core sim.
  • No damage model (at least not in the preview demo they had available).
  • Rally force-feedback feels very bland compared to Dirt Rally. On tarmac, FFB feels great.
  • No real SP campaign besides driving school/challenges.
  • Online racing feels smooth; no technical problems.

Oh, thank you!

My German is very beginner-y level, but it sounded like he doesn't like the collision physics either.

Yeah, he said the collision system and damage model is basically the same as in every other GT game, "as if the cars were covered in invisible bubble wrap". :(

The current version the media is currently testing doesn't seem to have any damage at all, although the beta version did. Let's hope the final game will improve on the damage model that was present in the beta. It's a must-have feature, in my opinion.

Where did he said that?
He said if you want to go full sim you can do it and turn off all assists

They said: "Game-play-wise it's what you would expect from GT: a sim-focused game, but not a pure-breed simulation which would scare away the target audience. ... Those who like a pure simulation can turn off all assists, and will then have to work hard to keep the fast cars on-track"

OK, maybe the term "sim-cade" is not quite appropriate. Maybe "soft-core sim" is better? :)

Or a beginner's sim, if you like. :)
