Found very nice video of Japanese guy thrashing an F40 at Nürburgring in VR Mode. Skip to 7:03 for the onboard lap :

Myself really enjoying this. Idk whether he turned off all the driving assists or not, but it is a pleasure to see an F40 driven hard and fast. Also, the video is well edited in my opinion by having cut to cut scenes between cockpit cam and replay footage. Feels like watching Best Motoring footage though...

Agreed, those edits are fantastic 👍

The improvement on the AI is HUGE compared to the last GT games. It's still extremely slow and on career races it uses the strongest ¿impulse? (what makes you faster if you are going behind the leader and makes you slower if you are the leader) effect so at the end is not the best, but it probably behaves the "most human" of all racing games on PS4

I think "Rubberbanding" is the term you're looking for.

Can't say the same about the droids...

Yep, that is the word I was looking for. Thanks!

I think the AI has received a massive update in the last patch. At the beginning it was very dull, but now they battle much better for position, respect your car much better, overtake with an easiness I dont think I've seen in other game on PS4, they let you pass when racing on ovals if you are lapping them, loose the rear of the car and catch it, they make several mistakes (sometimes too many), they make a lot of 2/3 wides...

Problem is, it's too slow and you cant see all this goodness because you hardly interact with it. Until, like in the video I posted, you reach the leader and it has the same quickness as yourself.

Man I never thought I would love a photo mode so much. Love this pic

And I put together some advice for how to drive Mount Panorama fast since I've picked up a few things over the huge number of laps I've put in on this track recently.

He holds a record in fuji speedway.(in a
Roadster Cup category.)So,no wonder his driving is smooth.

When you race the AI in custom race mode at professional with boost disabled the AI is really pretty competitive depending on which track you drive and what car you use.

Everyone should really try this out, i mostly do custom races when i play GT Sport and i am pretty much always satisfied with the AIs performance!

Keep in mind that the AI always uses the standard tires (sh for n300 etc)

I know the rubberbanding effect is huge in most of the career races. But the performance of the AI without it, in terms of speed, is very bad compared to Assetto or PCars2.

One example: in the oval track with 3 corners (Blue moon bay) I can lap the AI in less than 14 laps with the GR1 cars on proffesional, no rubberbanding effect and not a single change on the setup of the car (included standard tires).

With that said, I'm getting more convinced it's the best on behaviour...

Well, i have never done a gr1 race, i mostly drive with n300/n400 or gr4/gr3 cars and maybe the AI gets slower the faster the cars are. But i have to say i drive rather passive or lets say cautious which definitly helps getting plausible fast AI cars.

I have done a 3 lap GR3 race at the nordschleife and got from 16th to 8th place (or so) without making any mistakes. To me atleast thats fast enough to have good offline races!

what do you guys think about the crash between me and gtr in the first corner?

He accidentally hit Snow, than i hit him, than the guy behind me Marko hits me making my car goes forward again, so i gained a bit of momentum and hit gtr again, making him spin. I don't think it was my fault, i tried to avoid the crash but it was too fast, unfortunately he spun.

IMO you, the FT1 and the car behind you dont leave enough distance between your car and the car in front.

But there are some points to be made:
-It's clear that the FT1 doesn't leave enough space between his car and the car in front.
-I'm not sure you would crash with the FT1 if this one would have braked properly (meaning is possible you did left enough space between your car and the FT1) and Im pretty sure you couldn't do much more to avoid hitting the FT1 and making him spin.
-The car behind you is a prick. Sorry to say. Clearly didnt leave enough space and then pushes you out.

The one big problem with the AI is that they break or slow down mid corner or even on exits for no apparent reason. I have stopped counting how often I rearended AI-drivers due to this problem. If they'd stop doing this they'd be really competitive and an actual challenge to beat I think 💡

The car that pushes me off the track is not the same that hits me in the back at the hairpin. The one that pushes me off i know it's at fault, that's why i didn't even mention him in my post.

I have no issues with the car behind me hitting me there in the hairpin cause he cannot avoid it after the domino effect hits.
