Spectator mode? Hell yeah, sign me up.
I'm really not sure if anyone touched on this, but I'm hoping they can have announcers for this. For people who want to take commentating seriously - think GTP's online racing series - it would be fantastic this can somehow become a "thing". It's just my opinion. I have odd taste.

...I've completely forgotten about that post. :dopey:

You say "they". They who? PDI? I don't think they would do that.

Since PDI made it known their ambition for GTS into the ranks of e-sport, I'm fairly sure pro announcers will do the job, like how it is in EVO.

I haven't checked this thread since the announcement. I'm going through the pages from around page 38.

But yes, "they" as in PD. If they do go the professional commentator route, so be it lol. Really all I mean is that I'm excited for this feature. I've been wanting to watch races setup internally to look legitimate the way GTP has them for the longest time now. I haven't been able to watch those online races consistently. Hopefully that'll change with the advent of this "spectator mode."

It would seem that people are resolute about hyping themselves up, even though we know that Polyphony bull:censored:s a lot in their trailers.

I'm out. Y'all can wind yourselves up all you want. In a couple of weeks hopefully we'll have some actual in-game stuff to look at, and then people can sensibly start making comparisons.

This 🤬 right here is like seeing a hamburger commercial and getting excited about how delicious it looks, when you know damn well that while it will look similar there's no way on God's green earth that it's going to be the same.
You're overreacting. Just take a chill pill dude.

If PD are serious about GTS being an E-Sport then they REALLY need to improve their online net-code. I don't know if it's just me but there is no way I can ever watch any of the live GT Planet streams of races because of the un-natural way cars move around the track, due to the laggy/slow net-code. Completely ruins it.

It would be incredibly inefficient if PD have upped the poly count "4 to 8 times" the existing half-million Premiums are. They're already at the point of diminishing returns – look at how well DriveClub models look at half that amount – and with adaptive tessellation, it just doesn't make sense (although the effects of it are probably what we're seeing). We're looking at improved texture and lighting treatments, two things PD have always been pretty stellar at, really.

Models that were borderline overkill for the PS3 were part of the reason GT6 has frame rate issues. I'd certainly hope PD didn't see fit to repeat that problem.

That is why I don't consistently watch GTP's online races. It looks like the cars are being played around with by children, like little RC cars even. It's a damn shame indeed.

Edit -

I'll be watching Suzuka though.

iRacing has been doing this for some time and they do a fine job. For any kind of legitimacy, GTSport live events need to be at this level or preferably better.
