That is because the thread started as "When will we see the first trailer? (clickbait statements)".
...And we all ended up clicking it anyway.
I see I did my job well. I created a snowball that never really stopped. (If only I knew how to make likebait statements)

When will we see the first trailer speculation is kind of about trailers videos and screenshots? :P however it seems that the last 20 pages have been about, well idk.... lots of things. Including PSX, where we crashed into a wall at 185 in the hype train...

Theres a general discussion that many messages in here would fit better in. It would be nice if this thread got less post until we have new media releases.

I just cannot get over just how good the foliage looks.

Is it just me being paranoid or is PD planning on using the 2D paper cut-out trees again? Notice the tree nearest to the apex of the turn at :28 to :32. The camera pans from right to left but you still see the exact same side of the tree. It does not seem to be a 3D model.

I see the phenomenon you're talking about, but I do think the trees in the trailer have a certain depth to them that couldn't be done with simple 2D paper cutout trees. If I had to make a wild guess, I'd say they're doing it the Driveclub way; basically 3D trees that have groups of leaves represented by 2D sprites always facing the camera.

They look fantastic in photos and when you're driving past them at full speed, but things get weird when the camera is moving past slowly.

Ah yes, I see what you're saying. So only a small section of the tree rotates facing the camera leading to the oddness when panning. Thanks for bringing up Driveclub as an example.

I'd have no trouble with that comprimise if it helps with the framerate. Smart idea actually.

I don't either but that kind of things isn't really noticable at 65 mph.
Yeah, but remember that one of many points PD nailed it with Brand Hatchs's FIA certification was the similarities with the real-life track in 3d modelling terms, and that meant everything was exacly modeled just like the real one, even if it was for an old hardware. Maybe PD showed FIA a little improved Brand hatchs on the special build...

Well it was laser scanned recently. Maybe there are different LOD. That's a lot of HDD space though.

I think they are 2D, but with much more quality than PS3 GTs.
Do we have a 60fps racing with real 3D trees on consoles?

Yeah, I remember being confused because Forza 6 has them, but GT6 didn't, but now Assetto has them too, so I assume it's accurate. They probably couldn't make them on PS3 due to hardware constraints.
Maybe the owners remodeled druids after the certification, I don't know

How long has Paddock Hill had that thin, divoted kerb? It was still the car-width one last time I saw it, although admittedly that was the summer.
